Be Aware of Using Top Humble Movers LLC

Worst moving experience of my life. Water damage, price gouging, and threats. Full story below.

So we just went through what I can only describe as a nightmare move, and I need to warn as many people as possible.

The night before the move, they tried to push our start time from the agreed schedule to 7am the next morning. Less than 12 hours' notice. No response when we tried to call and sort it out.

Move day comes. They don't show up on time. Apparently they have the wrong number and didn't update me about anything. When I called the office so many times, nobody bothered to correct the number and fix the issue. When they finally arrive, the truck is way too small for the job. We wait TWO MORE HOURS for a replacement truck to arrive. That two-hour wait? We'll come back to that.

The replacement truck was also not big enough. Multiple items had to be left behind. And then we noticed it: the truck was leaking from the top. Everything loaded inside got wet and muddy. I refused to put my TVs and suits in there once I saw the state of it, so those had to stay behind too. We are still unpacking and keep finding more damage. Most of our bedding was soaked. Every box we open is another surprise.

Now here's where it gets truly infuriating.

The original quote was $125 per hour. Fine. But once they swapped out the small truck for the larger one, they said they were sending another person to help. We thought this was to sort out their mess-up. The owner unilaterally raised the rate to $155 per hour. Fine, let's just get it over with.

Towards the end of the unloading, the owner wanted to upcharge even more by adding an extra hour despite the job being done in less. The original agreement was two hours minimum, and they finished in two. He insisted the third man means three hours minimum, even though we didn't ask for the third person. When I disputed that, he changed tactics entirely, and instead of dropping the rate hike, he added the two-hour wait for the replacement truck to the total bill. Bringing it up to somewhere near $800. So we got charged for sitting around waiting for their mistake to be fixed.

The added charges came out to about $500 extra at the end. When I pushed back, the owner threatened to take all the unloaded belongings to a storage facility and hold them there for a fee until we paid up. He threatens his staff to be fired if they unload anything.

Let that sink in. A baby was waiting. My family was sitting there exhausted, just trying to get to a crib, bedding, and basic essentials. And this man is standing there threatening to hold our stuff hostage over a bill he inflated twice in one day.

On top of everything, he collects payment through Zelle and has it sent to other people. Not exactly a confidence inspiring billing setup. Shady practices all over this terrible business.

The owner operates like a bully, and this business has serious red flags all over it. Please do your research before booking any movers and avoid this place entirely. The stress, the damage, and the threats are not worth it.

Be aware people. Google reviews can be fake and inflated. People who post low reviews are being threatened with lawsuits; that itself shows the business ethics.

Still unpacking. Still finding wet items. Would not wish this on anyone.

Reducing air conditioning bills in the summer: is it worth upgrading attic insulation? Need advice.

My air conditioner is running non-stop, and my electric bills are draining my budget this summer. I need a permanent solution to heat my home.

The cold air comes out as soon as the system shuts off, and it feels pretty crappy... considering how much I pay for electricity :(. The upstairs floor traps heat and stays completely clogged.

Have you noticed a noticeable drop in your monthly energy bills after replacing your attic insulation and sealing your ducts, if you have? What would you do if you were me?

Tried two self-pay PT clinics back to back — one finally connected something 30 years of PT never did

I’ve dealt with chronic, “out of whack” issues since a car accident almost 30 years ago. I’ve been through plenty of PT over the years, so when I started looking at self-pay/cash-based clinics (no insurance billing, so treatment isn’t limited by what a payer approves), I decided to try two different ones within a day of each other to compare.

Both did thorough evaluations and landed on pretty similar findings about my body. But the approach was completely different:

**•**	The first clinic down in Katy, I believe gave me the same type of PT and exercises I’ve been given for years — competent, but nothing new.
**•**	At PhysioVictory (Dr. Lindsay Kennedy in Conroe), she picked up on something I hadn’t even told her — that my system has essentially been stuck in fight-or-flight since the accident. No PT in nearly 30 years had framed it that way. Her take was that the actual work is getting my nervous system to trust movement again, not just doing more corrective exercises.

That’s the reason I chose her over the other self-pay option, even though both were similarly priced and structured. It was the first time in decades a provider connected the dots on why things have stayed “off” for so long, not just what was off.

Curious if anyone else has had a PT identify a nervous-system/fight-or-flight component to a long-standing injury — did it actually change your outcomes?

Dive Bar

I'm looking for a nice hole in the wall bar around the Conroe/Woodlands area that is busy enough to not drink by myself but not full of regulars that don't want you there. I used to run a dive bar and I kinda miss the times I had in that place.

Short-Term Lease for Cancer Treatment

Does anyone know of anyone who might offer a short-term lease for cancer patients? I currently live in Livingston, and I am starting a new remote job in 2 weeks. I just got diagnosed, and the treatment plan is coming together, but I need to live near the Woodlands Hospital on 242. I have been searching online and trying different places, and I am waiting for some responses from Open Arms Foundation.

I really just need this for a few months, and I just need internet to be able to work and be within 10 or so minutes of the hospital (because I have to do this treatment on my lunch hour). I don't qualify for FMLA or short-term disability yet, and it is not logistically possible to drive from Livingston to The Woodlands every day, do treatment, and work.

Any insight, direction, or anything would be very helpful.

Is Montgomery ISD a good school district?

Does Montgomery ISD provide a good learning environment with high levels of parental involvement?

I am looking at homes in the part of Woodforest that is zoned to Montgomery ISD and Two Step Farm.

I know boundaries can change but as of right it is: Lone Star/Keenan, Oak Hills JH, and Lake Creek HS.

As a lifelong Houstonian who has never lived north of I-10, I know absolutely nothing about Montgomery ISD other than Lake Creek High School is the newer high school that covers the southern part of the district, and Montgomery High School is the older high school that covers the northern part of the district. The local news mainly talks about stories/happenings from the super large suburban districts: Conroe, Cy-Fair, Katy ISD, Fort Bend, and Klein. Never heard them bring up a story about Montgomery ISD.

Thank you for your guidance.
