Lost dog

My dog, Magnus slipped his collar last night around 9 pm, scared by fireworks. He is 170 pounds, around 2-3 feet tall and a giant baby. He has missed 2 meals and his meds so he likely is laying somewhere near Landry Lane or FM-1484 as he has bad hips. If found or seen he is extremely friendly and will likely come up if called. Please contact 24 pet connect if you find him

Affordable dental care

Hello all, does anyone have affordable recommendations for dental care in the Houston Area? Preferably near Conroe/spring/woodlands. I don’t have dental insurance so I would be paying out of pocket, looking to get my wisdom teeth removed 😭😭😭

Questions about foreworks

Anyone know of a good spot to take a young family to watch some fireworks? I'd prefer to be a little farther out rather than being "at the show" so we can dip if we need to.

Husky mix needs a home

I found a young adult female husky mix several weeks ago.  She has been to the vet and unfortunately does not have a chip.  We got her shots updated and had scheduled to have her spayed but had to cancel.  We are a large family in a small house (my older daughter moved back in with 2 kids) and as the dog relaxed it became very apparent she is not a good or safe fit with a baby.  She has not been aggressive at all, but she needs a lot of training, is very high energy and has no concept of personal space.  She is currently living outside except in extreme weather.  She has access to a covered porch with fans and clean water but I feel badly for her.  She could be a great dog for someone that has the time and space to train her.

This 1-year old boy has been waiting at the shelter for over s year… could he be the one for you?

Sweet Clyde is one of the shelter's longest residents - he has been waiting for a family since July 2025!

😢
This handsome boy is shy, but thanks to loving staff and volunteers, and a friendly kennelmate, he has made so much progress! He would benefit from a confident dog friend to bring him out of his shell, and a patient, loving family to build trust.
Clyde recently went on a foster day out with his kennelmate and he did GREAT! They loved walking at Jones state forest and having lunch on a restaurant patio. He is gentle on leash and has the sweetest little smile. And he is heartworm negative!
Can we find Clyde the home he deserves before his 1 year anniversary?

Fishing Lake App Updated

Hey y'all, thanks for all the feedback on the Fishing app that I created. It was my first foray into hobby app development. This is a HOBBY and I make no money off this. It's not a business, just something I've been trying out to learn.

A new update is out, version 1.5. Here's Whats Inside now:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/the-woodlands-fishing-guide/id6773332173

Please give it a try and I'd love to hear more feedback. And NO, there isn't a Google/Android version available yet.

A focused guide to fishing in and around The Woodlands, Texas.

Find 81+ verified spots — from Township-managed ponds like Lake Paloma and Bear Branch Reservoir, to Spring Creek bank access at Pundt Park, to Lake Conroe public boat ramps and Harris County's stocked Community Fishing Lakes — each with the permit rules, species notes, current weather, and one-tap directions you actually need.

NEW IN v1.5

• Current weather at every spot — air temp, conditions, and wind direction in a compact card right on the spot detail. Check before you head out.

• Cleaner map at every zoom — nearby pins now cluster into a single marker with a count, so 81+ spots stay readable even when zoomed out.

• Suggest a missing spot — found a lake I don't have? The About screen has a quick form to send me the name, coordinates, and notes. Live updates flow to every user without an app update.

• 7 new spots — Wendtwoods, Smooth Stream, Tupelo, Timarron (all in Creekside Park), Dennis Johnston Park, Hart Pundt Lake, and the Spring Creek Greenway Nature Center's Bluegill Pond.

• Lake Conroe Park is now Lake Conroe Beach Park, reopened in May 2025 under a private operator — listing updated to reflect new access semantics.

WHAT'S INSIDE

• Live map with every spot color-coded by access type (public, limited, private)

• Distance-sorted list with one-tap Apple Maps directions

• Permits & rules tab covering Texas freshwater license, Township pond rules, Lake Conroe regulations, and W.G. Jones State Forest

• Filters: public-only, catch-and-keep allowed, bank access, boat access, favorites, and species (bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie, white bass)

• Per-spot favorites (heart icon) and trip log (date + notes, stays on your device)

• Source links on every spot — verify rules with the official authority before you fish

• Spot data updates automatically — new lakes and corrections appear without needing an app update

WHO IT'S FOR

Whether you're a Woodlands resident scouting your village ponds, a visitor heading to Lake Conroe, or new to the area and wondering where you can legally drop a line — this app gives you a clean answer without the guesswork.

WHAT'S NOT INSIDE

No social feed. No leaderboards. No subscriptions. No accounts. Your favorites and trip log stay on your device. A small banner ad helps keep the app free, and you can also tip via Ko-fi from the About screen — both fully optional.

A NOTE ON PERMITS

Fishing rules change. Each spot links directly to the authoritative source (Texas Parks & Wildlife, The Woodlands Township, San Jacinto River Authority, Harris County Pct 4, etc.) so you can verify before fishing. Anyone 17 or older needs a TPWD freshwater license to fish public Texas waters.

SPOTS COVERED

• Lake Woodlands (Northshore and Southshore Park access)

• Lake Paloma at Creekside Park

• Bear Branch Reservoir

• Bedias Lake (George Mitchell Nature Preserve hike-in)

• 40+ Township greenbelt ponds across every village

• Spring Creek public access at Pundt Park, Jesse H. Jones Park, and Collins Park

• Harris County Community Fishing Lakes (Dennis Johnston Park, Hart Pundt Lake) — TPWD-stocked, free with state license

• Spring Creek Greenway Nature Center's Bluegill Pond — kid-friendly boardwalk access

• Lake Conroe Beach Park, Scott's Ridge, FM 830 ramp, Stubblefield

• W.G. Jones State Forest ponds

• Major private community lakes (Benders Landing, Auburn Lakes, Lake Holcomb, Harmony) labeled for awareness so you don't waste a trip

Built by a Woodlands local. Feedback, missing spots, or coordinate corrections always welcome — contact link in the About screen, or use the new "Suggest a spot" form to send them in directly.

Any bluegrass musicians/fans on here?

We host a local bluegrass jam on the second Saturday of every month at Excalibur Brewing in Old Town Spring. If you pick, strum, or even just like to listen to bluegrass, come hang and enjoy some great beer and connect with some fellow bluegrass weirdos.

(Hopefully this post is allowed since OTS is so near, but if not I'll remove it. Also, this is a free community event.)

The Brits are coming… on July 4th weekend

2 friends and I, all English guys (you guys won 250 years ago, accepted!), are visiting Lake Conroe on July 3/4/5 next weekend. Actually this will be the first stop on our World Cup trip ending in New York. Very excited.

I assume it’s a good idea to introduce ourselves to the USA with a July 4th weekend at a lake in Texas, right? We’ll be staying not too far from the town of Montgomery.

We have nothing planned, so I’m basically writing this to ask for the best things for us to do over those 3 days. We do love a beer and happy vibes! I assume that won’t be too hard to find next weekend.

Thanks in advance for your response!

Hello everyone. It is with a heavy heart that I am here to say I need to rehome my dog...

Chewbacca is an 8 y/o German shepherd mix (golden retriever and black lab). He loves children, other animals, and has never had issues with food aggression or possessiveness.

A sudden change in career requirements is necessitating my family's relocation, and we are unable to bring him with us. I am trying everything I can think of to find him a new home.

He is neutered, chipped, and up to date on all vaccines.

If you or anyone you can think of may want him, I am begging for help...

Friends

Heyo everyone, kinda going through it today, looking for maybe a group of friends in their mid 20's to late 30's that I can go out and have fun with? Kinda in a rut right now and don't really want to be alone.
