Weird ash covering grain

top half of the bag is like this, bottom half has semi healthy mycelium. the metabolites at the bottom seem to indicate there’s contam of some kind in the bag. is the “ashy” grain just straight contamination and if so, what kind

Question about Jack frost and spores

I know Jack frost doesn’t drop spores, but i saw that spore syringes are online, so i tried making a spore swab by rubbing the gills, and they turned blue. Are these the spores? Or something else? My spores with regular cubes are black basically so the color is throwing me off

I keep getting this white fuzzy growth after I dunk after the first flush

Is this really contamination im looking at? I use distilled water and dunk for 24 hours. I just pour the water right into the mono tub. Between the trash bag and the cake until it floats. Drain off all excess after roughly 24 hours. Maybe like 22 or 20 hours, definitely not over 24. Plz help! Id like to get more than one flush! Thank you! O the one cake broke when I was tipping it over to drain the water out. Its not dried out. Thanks again!

Does This Mycelium Look Contaminated?

Title: Does This Mycelium Look Contaminated?

Hey everyone,

I’m not trying to identify mushroom species (Copelandia) or anything like that — I just want to know whether this mycelium looks healthy or contaminated.

Some people told me it could be cobweb mold, while others think it just looks like fluffy mycelium with fuzzy feet caused by high humidity / low fresh air exchange.

During the first flush, a lot of spores dropped from the caps and the mushrooms turned dark/black afterwards, so I’m wondering if the grayish appearance could simply be spore staining instead of contamination.

Does this look contaminated to you or still healthy?

Monotub Produced Pins! But what the hell is this ring? [contamination]

Hello all!

This is my Monotub set up.

54QT Sterilite

https://imgur.com/a/x052w0C

After several days I finally got my first pins to appear. I have counted 10 in total and finding more each day.

https://imgur.com/a/SqOiGWl

Heres the thing. I've had this weird circle growing in my tub. I dont believe it is Trich, as I have had it before and it doubled and turned green in color very fast. This has been an extremely slow growth. I also did a Q Tip test and no sporulation on the Q tip. Now, being curious about the texture, I used a sterile glove and touched the circle and it kind of feels like a marshmallow and has a very faint yellow tint to it. Could it just be overlay? Coincidently, after the first week or so, I had so much water pooled on the lid suspiciously in that particular area. So much that I had to dry it off with a paper towel. Room temp lingers around 70-75 with an air purifier circulating the air. Tub smells earthy, no sour or funky smells. Obvious blue bruising on some of the surface due to the excess water drip. 6lb popcorn grain with 10lb substrate.

The pins appear to be growing fine despite this irregularity.
What do you all think?

TrichContam grow update

Before then after pic :D

Was told to throw out the grow. Instead i qarantined the bin in an area i dont grow in, and went fot a burn protocol. Took a butane lighter to all aparrent trich and their common spots daily for a week+

The bin pinned and by that point trich made one small return that was eaaily burned away.

Once the bin went to full fruiting no trich made an appearance

Full harvest 730 wet grams 😍

Super early trich?

Only my second time growing. Doing two tubs this time. This was put into its substrate from a fully colonized grain bag ~60 hours ago. This circle popped up over night and doesn’t looked like the rest of the mycelium that’s broken the substrate.

Update on possible contam

I posted these Shamrocks and was advised by our friends. Was told the cakes looked ok. I harvested and dehydrated some, but still feel a little uneasy about consuming. What do you think?

Fuzzy corners?

Second ever attempt at this. I’ve noticed this fuzziness in all of the corners over the last few days. Is this contam or mycelium?

Update: contaminated spawn, or bruising?

Hey everyone, the day before yesterday I noticed these bluish green spots in my jar of rice. When I asked the community here a couple people said that it could be bruising and not contamination. I am a newbie so I was surprised. Here’s where things stand now. What do you think? TIA.

How we looking

First time grower transferred to sub a week and a half ago and started fruiting my B+.

Is my shit fucked I do not think it is besides a grayish hue but I also don’t know how to identify mold or infection very well?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Hillbilly pumpkin

Fuzz seems to be overtaking the pins. Is it a FAE issue or contam?

Contam?

Hello! I struggle with blue and green differentiation. Is this contam or blue mycelium? Nothing was on my q-tip. This started after my first flush and rehydration.

Thanks in advance!

Question about mycelium and contam

So i PC’d some brown rice a little while ago, and got a few jars okay but a-lot got what i think is wet rot. (Which I’ve read that brown rice this is common)
But one jar seemed to have the mycelium continue growing over it all and Im wondering has anyone had experience getting at least one flush from a grain jar with contam like wet rot and still had the mycelium beat it/get something out of it? I was gonna send it just to see what happens

This is Hillbilly pumpkin for reference.
