Modified 6 qt dub tub with a casing layer I made too thick. It’s pinning aggressively now, but a few of the earliest pins/blobs have dark blue-gray caps.

Trying to figure out if they’re just bruised from pushing through the casing or if they’re aborting. I don’t want to open too early and disturb the new pinset, but I also don’t want aborts sitting long enough to rot.

No obvious slime, wet black/brown goo, fuzzy mold, or bad signs from what I can see. More pins are still popping up.

Would you leave them until harvest or pull suspected aborts early?

At what point is abort removal worth opening the tub?

Hey everyone,

Wondering why this jar colonized so light and wispy and not thick and white. It's king trumpet. I think it's been somewhere between 10-14 days. Anyone have any potential explanations? I'm using whole oats. I used the same liquid culture on uncle bens bags and then grew really thick white mycelium. Any info would be helpful :)

Is this contaminated? The bag colonized quickly, which made the break and shake difficult for me to break up evenly, which is why I think it’s uneven? The bag smells like earthy mushrooms, not sour or foul at all. The bag is cut the entire length of the bag in the front for FAE, and is in a grow tent. I haven’t misted the bag at all as there are humidity droplets on the bag. The temp is 75 degrees and they are getting 12-hours of indirect sunlight daily. It almost appears as if pins grew on the right side of the bag and quickly died off before I could notice them? I don’t see any obvious signs of mold, but again I’m a newbie. My first time growing went perfectly, so this is my first time trouble shooting. Is this salvageable? What can I do? Please help! I’m at a total standstill.

i dropped a little too much spore water from the syringe on this so it got all over the plate. Now I'm seeing growth all over the plate. The syringe I made was definitely not sterile. So now I'm confused as to what's growing on my plate. This is upside down because there's condensation pooling on the other side.

First time with a Martha setup. Just saw this a few minutes ago. All the totes in the tent are open. Am I screwed????

Do any of these look contaminated? 2 weeks grow as of today

Its been frustrating, but my last 9 jars have been continously infected either by trichey or by black mold (mostly black mold). I tried different grains (millet and brown rice) and I even tried different methods such as adding chalk powder to the jars. I need help figuring out what mistake am I making?! I usually put half plate of agar into 250 gms of grains(I have 550ml jars), and i think that's the culprit as it all starts to deteriorate either from the agar or the grains near the agar which have turned soggy or have swollen. For the first 3-4 days I usually see the mycelium taking over the top layer making a thin fluffy layer, and suddenly on the 4th of 5th day I notice greyish spots which spread quickly in 24 hours :(( What can I do next time, not put the agar pieces but just scrap the myc on top and inoculate that?

TLDR: need help with black mold or whatever contam im getting.

Be “wet bubble” and to my eyes it almost looks identical to these. Which I’m not sure if it’s wet bubble or Dino eggs.

So i was on vacation for a few days and my partner forgot to air out the bin while i was gone. It got way too humid. I came home to this. There was no mushrooms before. I’m concerned about the little oozing thing on the bottom. I’ve had a few successful grows before this. Can this be saved? 🥲

so ive been growing this batch of APEs for about 3 months now,
around one month in a gain bag
then transfered it to a tub and its been a month and a half since then

the tub is fully colonized and ive put in the micro pore tape for FAE and i have been misting every 2-3 days

is there anything im missing? its been about a 2 weeks since ive done this and i was hoping for pins

Hey guys/gals. I’m new to this and have no clue if these plates are clean. Any and all advice welcome. Thx in advance.

3 different looking growths in my tub. One is very white and dense, the other fluffy and the third not quite a green color, looks more tan thru the walls but still a bit concerning. Thoughts? I'm 3 weeks in since mixing spawn with coco coir following day tripper tek. Thanks fam

It's hard to see in the picture, but on the top side of the bin it has a greyish greenish hue. It was never white, and hasnt been spreading at all over the last couple days, but it smells slightly off. I have it isolated for now.

One of my contaminated bags of milky mushroom what all contaminations are here ?

I ordered this from magicfly.com, and just open the bag. I got another bag with a different strain that I have had and those looked fine, but these are giving me the creeps. I’m not a super experienced user, and this is a hybrid of thrasher and hillbilly. The one that I broke in half and took an extra picture of looks like it’s covered in bacteria, and it’s just shaped weird. I think some of the darkness is from the mushrooms, releasing their spores, but I wanna be more certain before I consume, or let my friends consume. But I like to hear other thoughts on it.

The fruiting block started out healthy and sexy then they started looking dry and ashy. How come?
