I’m still keeping my hopes up🤞

This is the real 2025 animated streaming release i want to see in the collection. I made two posts related to it but never made a real cover.

Bob Dylan: No Direction Home

Bob dylan is probably my favorite musician period. And this is probably my favorite documentary. So I decided this would be the perfect thing to make in my free time.

Artwork: Larry Butterworth

Which Dylan Doc do you prefer? No direction home or dont look back,

Chasing Amy [DVD Cover]

i've personally owned a copy of this, and while I do like the original cover, I made a cover that could (???) match up with the modern Criterion releases with the design and stuff (and also this is the first time I've made a cover of this type, this is prob low effort compared to other people's work due to the fact that I can't draw for sh** I just ran a screencap through filters lol)

It looks really smeary because Reddit compresses the hell out of it, I had some half-tone effect on it that did not reflect on the compressed ver. here on Reddit lol

and also every info here is lifted beat-for-beat from the actual Criterion release (minus the barcode)

Made some Criterion covers with my own art

The artworks are originally much taller so some of the crops look awkward, but I made some adjustments to better fit the shorter composition. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

The Complete Kubrick - Individual Covers

I've been reading the concerns regarding the packaging of the box, I know the sleeves are not the most ideal way to save the discs, so I decided to make these individual covers for the films.

I tried to recreate as closely as possible the brilliant artwork done by Drusilla Adeline (Sister Hyde Design), art director Eric Skillman, and producer Michael Chaiken.

I tried to gather the as much of the original artwork and photographs by Saul Bass, Bert Stern, Tomi Ungerer, Robert McCall, Philip Castle, Guy Jouineau, Guy Bourduge, Katharina Kubrick, and Christiane Kubrick.

I also made the inner covers by choosing frames of the films, you can find them in the PDFs:

Killer's Kiss (2 Discs)
The Killing (2 Discs)
Paths Of Glory (2 Discs)
Spartacus (2 Discs)
Lolita (2 Discs)
Dr. Strangelove, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (2 Discs)
2001: A Space Odyssey (3 Discs)
A Clockwork Orange (2 Discs)
Barry Lyndon (3 Discs)
The Shining (4 Discs)
Full Metal Jacket (2 Discs)
Eyes Wide Shut (3 Discs)
The Complete Kubrick (Bonus single Disc)

Lastly, I would like to add that having Stanley Kubrick's complete filmography in one single box is a treat. I consider myself lucky because somehow I didn't buy any of his films on Blu-ray or 4K, I only have some old DVDs of 2001, A Clockwork Orange and The Shining. I'm beyond excited and I cannot wait to get my hands on this collection, as I know many of you do.

I might do an updated version once all the special features have been revealed, but please let me know what do you think of these in the meantime.

Fear Of A Black Hat (1993)

Dear Criterion,
Please make this happen. Fear Of A Black Hat is an S-Tier mockumentary that is still stuck on DVD/VHS. It deserves a remastering & release in HD. I know a 4k might not make sense for a film shot on 16mm. But…I’ll happily take a blu-ray only release. And, this film makes sense considering it has already been featured on the Criterion Channel before.

So…please add this forgotten gem to the collection. 🙏🏻

I built a free app to track my physical Criterion Collection — My CC Closet (iOS)

With the B&N/Amazon Criterion sale, and being sick of streaming, I picked up a copy of Wall-E on a whim. I fell in love with it and just kept going. I'm up to about 12 movies now, and can't stop thinking of getting more.

I feel like, as my collection grows, I will have trouble knowing what I have, want and seen. Hence, why I built this — I see so many posts here of people accidentally rebuying a movie they already had, just because there's no easy way to check before you're standing in a store or scrolling a sale. So I made myself a simple, private way to look it up, and figured other people probably want the same thing.

My CC Closet on the App Store — free, no ads, no account, no login and available worldwide.

How it works

  • Browse the full spine-numbered Criterion catalog, searchable and sortable
  • Mark each title Owned, Wishlist, or neither
  • Criterion won't allow me to download all the cover art, and I get it, its their IP, so I added a feature where you can manually add every cover or bulk add them in a zip (more of this feature at the end)
  • Everything syncs across your devices automatically through iCloud, no server of mine involved

Features

  • Grid or list view, with adjustable tile sizes for phone and iPad
  • Mark titles as Watched, separate from Owned
  • Track official Criterion box sets — marking a set owned marks all its included spines, with a badge showing it came from a set rather than individually
  • An Overview dashboard: how many you own, how many are on your wishlist, how many you've watched, and a growth chart over time

This is a small passion project built for a pretty niche audience, so if you use it and hit something annoying or want a feature, I'd genuinely like to hear it. Also curious how other people here track their collections currently — spreadsheet, memory, or something else — since that's basically the problem I was trying to solve for myself.

ZIP file upload

Like I said before, we can't preload or pull the images, but I come here asking for your help. I added a feature in settings (top right gear icon) where we can import a zip like this one I made of all movies in the Wes Anderson Archive https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1sxEBzVv0Z4E-jfWtH5dsvLCPO7svR7Dh?usp=sharing, feel free to download it and test it on your device. I wanted to see if you guys are willing to help me out by trying the app, and using it. If you like it we can create a big zip file of all the covers, so when people use the app they can just get this file and get it working and looking beautiful.

To have the zip un compress by itself and add all the images accordingly, we need to named them their spine number.

Thank you so much!
