Around a week ago I posted asking about where the largest crocodiles lived NOW, not where they used to live. I was seeking the responses of the people on this sub who actually work with crocodilians, and someone said the largest confirmed was from the Philippines. This is wrong. The largest confirmed specimen was from Papua New Guinea. I stated that fact and a whole group of people started downvoting my comment, calling me names and saying I was wrong, just for correcting them. So, I ask of you, why are you like this?
This girl (Kileigh.Rose) on tiktok is going viral and getting followers after her and her little brunette friend went to SILVER RIVER (Ocala, FL) and harassed multiple large alligators. In the wake of MULTIPLE alligator deaths this year and at the end of mating season is actually insane. The alligators these girls are harassing are large and they will retaliate eventually. I’m still flabbergasted that I even witnessed them rowing up alongside gators and petting them. I have reported this to the FWC (as I’m sure others have as well) and it’s fairly simple to fill out their online reporting form.
What are you guys’ thoughts? As a Floridian, born and raised, NOPE. I do want to pet the cute swamp puppies, but I do not for everyone’s safety.
There's been some people on the net out there that confuses some other large crocodiles as Gustave, and Henry is one of them. For the starter, what is the main differences between these two?
Is this area dangerous? Which crocodiles inhabit this location? I read in some news reports that the crocodile was also captured; what is the procedure?
Hello,
I have been looking through information regarding black caimans, but there seems to be problems or inconsistencies about their average and max size, bite force, and how they compare to american alligators? I would appreciate the clarification. However, I came across a 2022 work by conservation international with scientist involved claiming they recorded a 18.7 ft (5.7 m) black caiman from a population survey they conducted in Colombia and this threw me for a loop becuase I never heard of this size for this species before that was supposedly "scientifically verified". I emailed them if they had evidence of this specimen and waiting for an answer, but I wanted to know yalls thoughts.
The image is mine, it's slightly edited to improve quality, but I took it when I was in Ecuador. The guide said it was a 2 to 3m black caiman. Just wanted to share it.
Crocodiles are not entirely aquatic but they still are good swimmers and can be seen in the open sea near coastlines. But I wonder if evolution had gotten them more webbed feet like ducks and they had webbed tails as well. Would they then be able to be out in the open sea like sea turtles?
So there are these two crocs, one lives in Makassar, South Sulawesi
and the other (pictured)in Asam Kumbang Crocodile farm. Please reach out to animal sanctuaries like vantara about these guy. I already tried a few, no responses.
Unrelated photo of Sobek the nile crocodile and his mate.
