Question - I hope it's not silly
Cross-view and parallel-view are methods of eye adjustment for merging a pair of images into a single stereoscopic image as when in normal sight a slightly different image is formed on the retina of each eye.
Parallel-viewing is similar to ordinary vision because the left-hand image is directed to the left eye and vice versa for the right eye. A camera-pair with lens' separated horizontally at average human eye separation takes pairs of photos which can be viewed by the parallel technique. Image combination may be aided by the simple optical device known as a stereoscope.
In cross-viewing the left and right photos are directed respectively to the right and left eyes.
Using the wrong viewing technique reverse the impression of depth.
Questions
Cross-view photographic pairs are presented in r/CrossView. Were they originally parallel-view images converted by image-processing techniques, or were they constructed from photographic apparatus which literally is cross-eye? If the second, what is the motivation for using such apparatus?
