Grate shadows
Just an interesting shadow through a grate
Castles from Rhine River Germany (2/3)
Again, some are better than others. Most of these are taken cha-cha from a moving boat, so ... The ones that obviously aren't were also cha-cha, but they came out much better.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - Geo-11 + DXVK - Windows 10 & SteamOS - cross view on top, parallel view on bottom
This one is weird. MGSV crashes if you apply Geo-11. I found this post while looking for solutions were someone suggested running it through DXVK to enable Reshade. With Geo-11 you have to chain it because both use d3d11.dll but it works! You have to do that on Steam Deck too even though that is already using DXVK within Proton...
Instructions:
- DXVK
- get the latest version of DXVK: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases
- copy the x64 files into the MGSV folder
- rename d3d11.dll to d3d11_dxvk.dll
- Geo-11
- get Geo-11: https://bo3b.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/geo-11_v0.6.196.zip
- copy all files in x64 into the MGSV folder
- Fix
- now get DarkStarSword's fix for MGSV: https://helixmod.blogspot.com/2016/01/metal-gear-solid-v-phantom-pain.html
- copy d3dx.ini and the ShaderFixes folder into the MGSV folder
- open d3dx.ini:
- under [System] uncomment and set
proxy_d3d11=d3d11_dxvk.dll - delete/comment out the line with
hook=recommended skip_dxgi_factory skip_dxgi_device - under [Device] set
force_stereo=2 - delete everything below line 930 (the one saying
[Resource3DVision2SBSBackupTexture])
- under [System] uncomment and set
The recording was made on the Steam Deck because on Windows with AMD the game crashed at some point. Maybe someone can share their experience with Nvidia. Have fun!
Just curious, why mismatched activity levels/user counts on r/crossview and r/parallelview?
According to the stats I can see (as of today), the two subs stack up like this:
| SUB | weekly visitors | weekly submissions | members |
|---|---|---|---|
| r/crossview | 6.9k | 115 | 75,632 |
| r/parallelview | 3.9k | 244 | 37,916 |
TL;DR: why don’t crossviewers post more?
Why does r/crossview have about twice the "people" of r/parallelview but about half the submissions? The data itself could be misleading or out of date or dirty or whatever, but just speaking anecdotally, I noticed once I got u/StereomancerBot working reliably that there are a lot more r/parallelview posts than r/crossview posts. It also kind of feels like posting (aside from the bot) has slowed down in r/crossview in the past few months. Is that because of the bot for some reason? Are r/crossview users shy? Does the sub feel toxic to contribute to or something? Does r/crossview have a bunch of dead accounts that left Reddit when they shut down third party apps?
I know the two viewing methods have some natural difference in popularity just because of different people's preferences and how screens and tech have changed things over time, but I'm just more puzzled by the ratios expressed above rather than comparing the actual sub counts. Why do parallel view users seem to be far more eager to make their own contributions than cross view users?
Or is this type of question meaningless because the subs are so small and dominated by a few accounts that there isn't really any pattern here?
Edit: I realized a little later that dead accounts aren’t an explanation, because dead accounts wouldn’t show up in the weekly visitor counts. So r/crossview users are either much more likely to be lurkers/bots for some reason or there is something else going on.
Castles from Rhine River Germany (1/3)
Some better than others. There are so many castles along the Rhine river because it was a major shipping lane that every warlord in reach could dip into taxing the river traffic.
We’ve arrived, please get off the bus (converted from r/parallelview)
Hey iOS users, I made a shortcut that allows you to easily make stereo images with two photos in your camera roll
Here’s the link: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/19e729c5cd5a45d6a5d13efea5d6bb1d. You can add this to your Home Screen and use it whenever. The cool thing too is that if you want a parallel view but it gives you a crossview, you can just swap them simply.
While this won’t well work for more complicated photos that need to be cropped differently to match, it should cover at least 75% of attempts, especially if you have a steady hand when taking them.
