Learning CFOP

Learning full CFOP, any advice on how to get better at remembering algorithms? I'm starting with F2L then doing OLL and PLL, although I already know a bit of all of them. any ways to do this faster?

Thx!

Are you a solver or a collector?

What do you think is the ratio between how much you are a solver and how much you are a collector. In what days are you a solver or a collector? In what days do you not cube? why? What makes you think that being a solver/collector is better? Do you find collectors annoying? What are your speedcuber behaviors that not many think are speedcuber behaviors? If you can make a website that connects cubing and 1 seemly unrelated idea together, what would it be like in detail? If you are sub-10 for 1 day, what would you do? What seemly unrelated stuff do you think it helps a cuber get faster? Would you sacrifice your cubing skills completely for 1 million dollars?

Some pretty neat patterns I just did

I love the effect on the 4x4 and 5x5 on the right when it seems to be a 1 cube smaller cube inside with the dot pattern, very cool !

My first big cube - almost done!

My kids got me a 9x9 and an 11x11 for Mother’s Day (the 11x11 hasn’t arrived yet). Anyhow, I thought I’d give it a whirl, thinking ‘how hard can it be?’! Turns out, harder than it looks, that’s for certain. And longer! Took me near 4 hours to get this far!!!! I applied principles I knew from the 4x4 and 5x5 (the two biggest cubes I know how to solve). Anyhow, that’s all I have left to do but my brain is mush… I’m sure (well, pretty sure) I’ll figure it out but it’ll have to be completed another day but I’m pretty proud of myself to have gotten this far without help.

EDITED: All solved! Took near 6 hours over 3 days of fun(!) but I got it done!!! Onto the 11x11 next (once it gets here of course).

Looking for cubes (US, TX)

I'm looking for:

X-Man Tornado V2 M,

GAN 356 X or 356 XS, preferably the XS,

The Valk 2 M,

I would like the original versions for all of these cubes, meaning no special editions.

Also, for the GAN's, I'd prefer if the cubes come with their adjustment tools.

I'm especially looking for the Tornado V2.

I live in Houston, TX, USA.

I built an amazing cubing tutorial app!

As a cuber myself, I built the kind of tutorial app that caters to understanding the solve.

If you are an iPhone or iPad user, the app named Cube-O-Pedia has a library of 50 different cube tutorials that walk you through the entire solve process with helpful user-friendly, step-by-step detail. Designed for beginners! Newly updated!

Download the app here exclusively from the Apple App Store:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/cube-o-pedia/id6471312947

Best wishes on your cubing journey, and share this with your friends!

First time going to a cubing competition

Hi, in about 3 days from now im about to get to my first competition. I signed up to 5 events and have already watched vids about judging and some wca regulations (the vid cubehead made lol). Is there anything im missing to learn about?

I built a free smart cube web app and need help testing more cube models

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on a browser-based smart cube app called Cubyqo:

https://cubyqo.app

It’s basically a free smart-cube-focused cubing site with no account needed. Your data is stored locally on your device.

Important note: Cubyqo is currently desktop-only and smart cube connection works only on Chrome / Chromium-based desktop browsers for now, because of the Bluetooth library/API used for the cube connection. I haven’t worked on mobile support yet.

I built it because I wanted one place where smart cube solves, stats, alg training, reconstruction, BLD tools, and some weird experimental stuff could all live together.

Right now it has:

  • Smart cube connection and solve tracking
  • Solve history
  • Solve reconstruction
  • Solve recording and sharing
  • Deep stats and analysis
  • Algorithm training
  • Custom algorithms
  • Customizable themes
  • Algorithm libraries for advanced F2L, OLL, PLL, COLL, and ZBLL
  • Some cube-controlled games, mostly experimental/gimmicky for now
  • A very gimmicky music section where cube moves trigger sounds
  • A full BLD solve analysis tool focused on Old Pochmann

The site is free and I intend to keep it free. No account is needed, and the data stays on your device.

The main reason I’m posting here is that I need feedback and compatibility testing.

At the moment I can personally verify it mainly with the X-Man Tornado V4 smart cube, so I would really appreciate feedback from people using other smart cubes, especially GAN, MoYu, Giiker, Monster Go, or any other Bluetooth cube.

I’d love to know things like:

  • Does your cube connect?
  • Are moves detected correctly?
  • Does solve tracking feel reliable?
  • Is the reconstruction useful?
  • Are the stats clear?
  • Does alg training feel good?
  • Is the BLD tool useful or confusing?
  • What features feel unnecessary?
  • What would you want from a smart cube training site?

There is a feedback button inside the app, so you can send bugs or suggestions directly from there, but comments here are also super useful.

There is also an optional donation link, mainly so I can buy more smart cubes and test/support more models, but the app itself is free and I intend to keep it that way.

I’ve attached some screenshots so you can see what it looks like.

Thanks to anyone who tries it. I’m very open to criticism, bug reports, cube compatibility reports, and feature ideas.

Does anyone know the dimensions of the moyu maglev kit magnets?

So I found a good deal for the moyu super weilong V2, but it comes with springs instead of maglev and I wanted to find suitable conversion kit. I know there is one on cubicle, but the shipping is more expensive than the magnets themselves. If someone could measure their magnets and maybe even tell their grade (N35, N50, etc.), that would be a huge time saver!

I think Teodor should be able to vote

the Teodor I’m talking about is the Teodor who got a 2.76 second solve on the 3x3 officially. He should be able to vote even when he’s young because non cuber adults are already able to vote, so why not Teodor? it’s not like he’s too stupid to vote. he is the first person ever to get a sub-3 officially on the 3x3. What about you sub-10 cubers? Should Teodor be able to vote?

I thought of a cubing idea

I just thought of an idea of cubing, and it’s not what you think. The idea i thought of is a website where cubers can take a DNA test and get the results of cubing. Have you ever had that time where you thought you can’t get any faster? ya, i had. But i want to help cubers. The secret of getting faster is in your DNA. And the website’s name is CubersDNA. CubersDNA is 23andMe for cubers. And when you get the results, you get your TPS potential, your lookahead potential, and your efficency potential, there is also a schedule of the ideal day of life to get faster, including improtant but out of cubing stuff like sleep, diet, and exercise. So, you can just buy a kit and spit into a tube and mail it back to scientists and after some time, you get your results. And since you’re DNA don’t change, you don’t have to take the test again. You can enter your average for further accuracy. To be clear, this website isn’t a thing when I posted it, and i don’t make websites. It’s just my idea, but i believe some cubers can make the idea to reality. Ya, the logo should be a blue strip and an yellow strip, and a orage stripe, with a DNA on top of it. You might think that the idea is crazy, but there are athlets taking DNA tests to get better, and there are studies on DNA of chess players, so why not cubing? Are any sub-10 cubers willing to make a website for that? Then, what are you waiting for? Let’s go!

Longer way to do the checkerboard

M2 U2 M2 U2 Z M2 U2 M2 U2 (x6) or you can do M2 U2 M2 U2 Z M2 U2 M2 U2 (x4) to do a checkerboard that looks like the checkerboard from an even numbered cube.

How did y'all first get into cubing?

I asked my parents for my first cube because it was a carbon fiber sticker cube and I thought it looked really cool. That was when I was 11 years old. Now I am almost 17 and I've been cubing ever since with 2-3 long breaks in between.

"Watch This” Speed Boost Is Real

This is way too real 😭
I’ll keep messing up easy algorithms when I’m alone, but the second someone starts watching, suddenly I’m turning smoothly like I actually know what I’m doing 💀🧩
