Hi guys, I'm quite new to the Android custom ROM scene. I want to ask, is it actually safe or even useful to use apps like CCleaner to clean cache and optimize performance on a Custom ROM? Or does a Custom ROM already handle system optimization well enough without third-party cleaners? I would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

I was just gifted a kindle fire HD 8 (8th generation) and based on what I can seem to find it seems to have a custom ROM installed. There’s no Amazon AppStore or the preloaded apps. It says it’s running android version 7.1.2, and several factory resets have done nothing.
The problem is the person that gifted it to me didn’t mess with it, and I didn’t, and every answer I found on the internet said you have to know what was changed to be able to put it back.
How can I fix this?

After installation the phone reached Welcome screen fine. But now: selecting a language and tapping Next freezes the screen completely (no animation, unresponsive), then the phone reboots on its own. Happens every time, same step.
What could be the cause? Help!
