I’ve generally felt safe but kept vigilance on the metro but the other week a guy in a red coat/hoodie followed me on the metro from the platform on the blue/orange/silver line and kept on commenting on how pretty and young I looked (ew).

I had to play train jenga to lose him and switched lines a few times to make sure I was good so I ended up arriving home a full hour later than usual.

I’m going to have dinner with friends who are staying in DC for the month while a work fellowship. They’ve never been to DC before. I was planning to bring a small hostess gift, like chocolates or a dessert, but thought it would be fun to bring something locally produced or DC-esque. Where are we buying our cute hostess gifts these days?

I used to love Capital Candy Jar’s treats for this type of occasion, but I just don’t find their products in stores that often anymore. I feel like there were a lot of shops selling DC themed products in 2014-2019 but not much since Covid?

Anyway, would love recommendations so I don’t show up with the usual bottle of wine.

I love Sorso, it's not crowded, it's woman owned and the lychee spritz is always a hit. If you have another suggestion for place or time and date I am totally open!!
