Experiences at Resculpt or Moksha Aesthetic? Or other recs for Daxxify?

Hi folks, I’m new to the area and looking for an injector, specifically someone who specializes in full face Daxxify. I had a great person for the last few years but before that, no matter where I went, I always ended up with a super heavy (vs lifted) brow that I hated since I already have hooded lids.

I got a rec from a coworker (who looks amazing and natural but is also quite a bit younger than me) to see Erika Barry at either of these locations but after checking out her IG (injectorbunny) I have some reservations. She seems like a nice person but holy Mar-a-Lago face 😬 I don’t want to be upsold into a face full of filler and think that look is kind of dated and aging.

Does anyone here have positive experiences there? Looking for more real life reviews in the hopes that some of this look is just IG filters?

If you get full face Daxxi somewhere else and love it, please give me your recs as well. Also curious what folks are paying.

Favorite solo restaurants and/or cocktail bars?

What are everyone's favorite restaurants for solo dining? Would love to have a few options for when I want to treat myself to a solo meal. Would welcome a range of price points from cheap eats to something fancy. Bar recommendations also welcome, especially if the bar has small bites!

I love a restaurant with bar seating for solo dining, so you can chat with the bartender if the mood strikes. A good patio for people watching is also a favorite.

Do you leave negative reviews for small businesses?

Hi! I have had a bad streak of luck recently with small businesses in DC it seems. One with a photographer for engagement photos and another for a tailor, both local and found on TikTok.

For the photographer, I’m trying to resolve that privately but not really getting anywhere. I still haven’t received our full photos and it’s been over a month and a half. We had a bad experience (they showed up an hour late and we couldn’t get all the photos we wanted) but I plan to ask for a partial refund once I received the photos. Still haven’t… but I’ll wait a bit longer.

For the tailor, they absolutely ruined a piece of clothing as they didn’t know how to do the service we asked for, but wanted to try anyways…? They did refund us thankfully.

In both situations, my friends say I should leave a negative but honest review explaining the situations to warn others, but I feel awful because they’re small local businesses! The tailor was very sweet just seemed way over her head. On the other hand, if I saw a negative review for this particular service, then maybe I wouldn’t have gone forward with it?

What say the bitches? I’m frustrated but I don’t want to hurt a business. At the same time, are reviews only supposed to be glowing?

Where are the Pilates studios with good music in this city?

So tired of the Taylor swift and wacky pop music. Like not even good stuff like zara larsson or pink pantheress it’s like old navy music. I want bad bunny themed classes and more Latin music. Or rap. So annoyed!!!
Any good studios that do this???

DC Prenup Rec?

Has anyone created a prenup in DC and have a lawyer recommendation, or roughly how much it cost (per person)?

My fiancé and I are getting married in DC in the fall and started to look at options but it's been a bit confusing to navigate and the online ones do not seem legitimate.

Relocating to DC. HELP

Hi everyone, I’m an incoming PhD student and I’m relocating to DC next week. I’m currently stuck between two buildings, and I need to make a decision by the end of the day.

They are both in the Noma area. I’m between the Florian and the Hale. I’m a single woman with a dog and would love some insight. The unit at the Florian is bigger, but I think I prefer the location of the Hale. Thoughts?

Thank you!

Places I can weigh myself / get my weight for free?

Please hear me out!

Hi everybody, I am currently on a wellness journey, where one part of my well includes weight loss. I find that not having a scale and obsessively weighing myself is very helpful for my mental health, but having the weight data every couple months is still useful. I've done the last two measures at my doctor's office, but with a high deductible plan that adds up $$$$.

I was wondering if anybody knows of any place where I could get my weight taken (e.g., kiosks, public health screenings), that would get me the data while still give me that distance from the scale.

The only thing I'd hope for is I don't have to give out too much personally identifying information.

Looking for a MAT Pilates private instructor

Hi everyone! I’m looking to get back into mat Pilates. I used to do it years ago but school went a little crazy and have been out of the game for a while.

I am very injury-averse so I prefer to have 1-2 sessions with a personal instructor who is heavy on checking form, alignment specifically for the classical sequence and making sure every move is exactly right before jumping into group classes with a little less focus. I really want someone who is impeccable about form and minimizing injury.

I am looking for someone who is body positive and is not looking to Pilates as a form of weight loss but body movement.

If anyone has recommendations let me know. It can be in a studio or outdoors or even someone’s apartment/home gym I’m not picky. Preferably someone in DC, MD, or VA that is in a location that is metro accessible.

Are we scaring the good ones into not approaching us?

TL;DR: Are we scaring men off by making complaints like this? There must be another way…

- - - - - -

I’ll preface by saying this might be unpopular opinion, while acknowledging that I don’t think anyone is obligated to entertain unwanted advances and that there is a huge difference between respectful flirting and someone being obnoxious.

I can’t help but wonder what went down here… Like, would this woman be using the same tone if she found the person hitting on her attractive? (And yes, I’m aware that even an objectively attractive person can be objectively UNattractive due to their behavior.)

But I also think this is a reason well-meaning and interested men DON’T approach women at bars, Whole Foods, while walking by, etc. They’re afraid of being lambasted on Reddit. Like, are we conditioning men to believe the safest move is to never approach us at all?

And I know all some you are going to say, “THEY JUST SHOULDN’T BE CREEPY,” but I think all of our complaining (and I LOVE complaining), is working against us because we’re scaring these men. And then it’s the ones that don’t give AF or who possess ample self-confidence (or the truly creepy ones; I know they are prolific) who do approach, and they’re the marginalized few.

I don’t know what the solution is, but I also think we should be a little more mindful when we complain about men approaching us and then turn around and complain about men not approaching us.

Anyway, I just think there are other ways to make our point… I just don’t know what’s effective. We can complain on Reddit (acknowledging this post in itself harbors multiple complaints), or… what?

Like, I’m genuinely asking: How do we encourage interactions (respectful ones) without scaring people into never approaching at all?

Do we start leading by example? Or take to the streets? I ask this with a problem-solving lens… but also welcome comical ideas.

Thank you friends

Just wanted to take a second to thank you amazing people who recommended in-home end of life care for my dog. I was able to connect with Laps of Love and start planning for palliative care in the meantime to ensure my dog is comfortable with support until the time comes for the next step.

Your words were all so kind, loving, and helpful, and it was really encouraging to hear from those who have lost pets and are on the other side.

Thank you, bitches, you made one of the most heartbreaking, daunting tasks much easier to navigate and we feel so at peace with our next steps and the care plan in place.

Dog tax as a thank you, and another chance to share my baby with the world.

medical focused dermatology recs

Hi all,

I need to switch dermatologists, and I'm specifically looking for someone in DC, focused on medical dermatology who does good mole mapping, but is not trying to scaremonger either.

Had a bad experience with 19th St Dermatology, so please no recs for there. I'm in the process of filing a complaint.

Trying to find a psychiatrist that is comfortable with benzos?

I am not drug seeking - I have severe anxiety and C-PTSD from abuse up until the age of 18, and a series of unfortunate events that followed. When I moved here, I was prescribed 1 mg of clonazepam (Klonopin) to be taken 2x daily (morning/night).

However, when trying to find a psychiatrist here, I was turned away from some practices altogether that did not prescribe benzos. I've seen 3 psychiatrists here, and they have gotten me down to 0.25 mg clonazepam as needed (which is still daily). This wasn't my choice. They have all been adamantly against the usage.

I'm not functioning as well, and I'm on a lot more medication for anxiety. Most recently, my psychiatrist suggested beta blockers as an alternative. I know all of the risks, but I have daily panic attacks. It takes a lot to sedate me.

Does anyone know of a psychiatrist who is comfortable prescribing benzodiazepines?

Looking to reset my social life/ advice needed

Hey everyone, I’m (28F) newly separated and ready to put myself back out there to meet new people and eventually start dating again. I have an elementary aged child, so my time is valuable, and I really want to avoid the Tinder/casual swipe scene entirely. I am also very nervous about dating as a mother.

For those who made a fresh start here, how did you meet people? Are there meet ups or groups that put you in situations to strike up a conversation? Open to Bumble BFF for friends or other apps if the vibe is right, but mostly looking for organic ways to connect. Thanks for the help!

Recommendations for private group dining?

I'm starting to plan my 30th birthday and I love good food, and I love dinners with lots of wine and all my friends. I think a private group dinner (probably 20 guests max) would be my ideal situation, but I want the food to be really good and a worthwhile experience for the group. Think wine pairing with an elevated set menu as opposed to a private room at somewhere like Founding Farmers. Would appreciate any recs y'all have!

Where to buy original art?

Hey friends, where are we finding unique art? I’d love to support local artists or buy secondhand— art fairs, coffee shops that display/sell wall art, thrift stores with a good selection of paintings, etc.

EDIT: Thank you all!! This is so helpful
