I was recently looking for some instruments in reFX Nexus 2, and I stumbled upon the exact instrument Dan seems to have used for both the "hover.ogg" and "select.ogg" sound effects used in DDLC!

The instrument is "Hands Up Bells 4", part of Nexus's default Plucked selection. For both of these sound effects, the Delay and Reverb seem to be toggled off.

For "hover," the only note played is a single G6.

For "select," the sound is comprised of a G6 and a C7. Both of these notes are held for a slightly longer duration than "hover's" G6 is held for.

I haven't figured out the specifics of EXACTLY how long each note is held for in both of these sound effects, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone document this information. So for anyone who would find this useful, here ya go!

So first of all, I really want to thank you all for downloading A Life with You a total of 1,000 times! I know that might not seem like such a big number, but when you really think about it, that's kind of impressive, especially for a novice like myself. You guys are all awesome, and I'm really glad you enjoyed the first chapter of ALWY. Seriously, thank you all for the support, I cannot stress it enough.

But to commemorate this occasion, not only did I draw this simple Monika doodle, but I'd also like to update everyone on Chapter 2. First off, it is being worked on (I will do Monika mods justice), and it is going to be released. As of when... I'm not entirely sure. BUT...! In addition to Chapter 2 being released, Chapter 1 is also going to received what I've dubbed a "soft rewrite." In all honesty, Chapter 1 turned out less than perfect, so I wanted to go back and fix a lot of the problems that I had and that were pointed out. It won't be anything too drastic, but enough will be changed that I'd recommend replaying it when it comes out.

But more on Chapter 2. As much as I'd like to give you all a name, that's kind of hard to do when it's constantly changing. I think I've settled on something, but I'm going to wait until its release to tell you all it. But just so you guys do have a general outline of what's to come, I've whipped out this short little synopsis of Chapter 2 (albeit, it isn't the best, since not a lot of Chapter 2 is done, but it still captures the main points well enough). Enjoy!

After discovering his new resolve, MC now has a new goal in attempting courting Monika. However, that isn't as easy a task as it may seem. Riding the thin line between close friends and something more, MC has to face many obstacles on the road along a romantic relationship. Doubt and hardships show up in and between both himself and those closest to him, and he must come to understand how much everyone really means to him. Love doesn't get any easier. You just got to go for it.

I’m currently developing a crossover mod that absolutely nobody asked for, but everybody needs: Dayshift At Freddy's: Doki Location.

Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like. The absolute brainrot, eggplant-colored humor of DSAF meets the Literature Club. Will you write poems? Probably. Will you get fired by Phoney or accidentally delete the universe? Highly likely.

(Quick heads-up: You might have seen my previous post where I was looking for artists to join the team. Thanks for the (sadly small (u/UstaGamerA) reach on that! Just to clarify, this is a completely separate post focused purely on the game itself and showing off what’s done so far!)

Hi everybody!

I wanted to follow up one more time to do one simple thing, and that's to express my gratitude.

My mod, Doki Doki Before The Bell! released this past Friday, and in its first weekend has surpassed 150 downloads, is averaging 5 stars, and has an ongoing Let's Play taking place on YouTube via KaneMonger. None of this would be possible without you all in the community, and I did not expect such an amazing reaction.

Before The Bell was written during a very personal time in my life when I was about 2 years out of college. Having a degree in theatre/screenwriting, as well as working on one in computer science, and being uncertain of how to use either of these degrees professionally had caused a lot of self-doubt. Around that time, I also played the original DDLC, and it completely changed the way I look at game narratives and my perception of how games & fiction can emotionally reach players. Before The Bell is a months-long culmination of hard work in writing, arranging music, and coding, born out of love for the original DDLC, and a creative rebirth in my personal life, and I am so thankful to have shared something that the community has been enjoying.

As a heads up, a 1.0.1 patch will be released later this week to fix a few typos and clean up the code a little bit more. No new story content will be added to Before The Bell at the current time, so if you're already playing 1.0, no need to rush to get the new patch.

Thank you for making this such a special weekend for me. Reading your comments & DM's after playing has been so lovely, and I would love to keep hearing everybody's thoughts upon finishing their playthroughs. This will probably be my last main follow-up for a while, but I look forward to reading, and possibly chiming in on discussions that are held about the game's story.

I'm currently in early concept with a few new mod ideas, and hope to become a long-standing member of the community with new story-based projects to come. Please know that your appreciation of my work is, and always will be, deeply valued. What a fantastic community!

It has been 4 months since the original release date of the mod, however there were reported issues when trying to run the game. This felt like Deja Vu, especially since a problem we experienced when fixing this mod is the lack of DejavuSans.ttf (or something like that). Thankfully, however, we were able to gain a new member to the Doki Doki Projects Team and was responsible for fixing a lot of the problems of the mod!

This mod still has approximately 30 minutes of content!
