My latest DHgate Purchase - I’m Pretty Disappointed
I bought this double flap bag from the seller moomoo888. From the trusted seller list. The seller was friendly, answered my questions, and sent me pictures of the bag before I made the purchase. Shipping was relatively fast.
I went to pick up the package and excitedly opened it. The package had arrived in perfect condition. Inside, there was a black box with decorative ribbons and other details, along with certificates of authenticity and even a receipt. The bag was beautifully packaged. But… the black box was also wrapped in plastic, and when I opened the plastic, an absolutely horrible moldy smell hit me. 😒
In my opinion, the bag isn’t particularly high quality. For example, I don’t think the zipper pull looks authentic. I’m not entirely sure what it’s supposed to look like, but this one looks cheap to me.
I specifically asked the seller whether the bag was made of leather, and they said it was. I’m not sure if it actually is leather. I’m especially suspicious of the red “leather” on the inside, as it feels exactly like PU leather. I can usually tell if a bag is made of real leather by its smell, but this one doesn’t really smell like leather at all. Maybe it isn’t real leather? I’m not entirely sure.
The moldy smell. I’ve tried spraying the bag with an odor eliminator, letting it air out, and even putting some eucalyptus-scented deodorizing baking soda inside it. Nothing seems to help. Who wants to carry around a moldy-smelling bag? Is there any way to save it? Has anyone else had a similar experience?
I contacted the seller about the issue. They said the smell was caused by the packaging materials and shipping. It’s strange, though, because the outer cardboard box (the one the bag was shipped in) didn’t smell moldy at all. I only noticed the moldy smell after opening the plastic wrapping…
The seller advised me to let the bag air out and said the smell would eventually go away. I’m not so sure about that.
