Best/closest DMB connection to your life moment?

A high school “girlfriend” cheated on me the same week Busted Stuff came out and I’ll never not connect the BS song itself with that time in my life. I remember listening to it in my car 100 times that month thinking “holy shit this is my life right now.”

Any other good/bad/crazy connections?

Chatted with some mid 20’s kids at the Atlanta show last week…

At some point we’re talk and they comment, “Yeah bro, my Dad grew up listening to Dave!”

I’m 41 and couldn’t help but smile, dropped off my first grader today jamming to Dave in the car as well.

Crazy to see Dave’s staying power all these years, planning on taking my kids (7 & 4) to their first show next year!

My Dave Matthews Band studio album rankings

  1. Tied between Crash and Under the Table and dreaming, both 9.9/10 albums, peak Dave Matthews Band the only miss in both of those albums is proudest monkey on Crash and all the other songs make up for it
  2. Before These Crowded Streets. Nearly fucking perfect album, just not as good as Crash and UTTAD. Has nearly no misses other than like 1 or 2 9.8/10
  3. Come Tomorrow, Very very close to being with Before These Crowded Streets, just had some songs that aren't as good as others whereas Before these crowded streets has less of those heavily overhated and underrated 9.75/10
  4. Busted Stuff, this album is peak. It has my 2 favorite songs by Dave Matthews Band in it (being Grace Is Gone and You Never Know) such an amazing and awesome album that deserves all the praise it gets 9.7/10
  5. Stand Up, it is also so neck and neck with Busted Stuff. It is such a good album and so overhated, I love how it is different from most albums and what they did on you might die trying and dreamgirl is amazing 9.5
  6. Big Whisky and the GrooGrux King and Away From the World, these two albums are tied because they are very similar and I intertwine them a lot. They have some very very good songs on them like "Shake Me Like a Monkey" and "How I Am," but most songs don't hit like the other albums 9/10
  7. Walk Around The Moon, This album is really good, it gets overshadowed and blindly hated sometimes. People see it as "unpolished" and one of their newer trashier albums but it has some really good songs on it
  8. Everyday, had the potential to be good, it's just really not that good. I don't like what they did in this album at all. Most of the songs have way too much guitar and just sound bad 6/10

How does Dave do it every.single.night?!

Have yall ever thought about the fact that DMB has been doing this every single year for over 30 years? And never or rarely miss a show. I find this astonishing and beyond impressive, especially with Dave. The songs require his character, vocals, playing every night and at a level most musicians don’t operate. I believe that they have lived through the stereotypical party years but it’s just crazy. I have a hard day at work or tough spot in life and thought
Imagine now going and playing 3 hours?! How? Medicine? Adderrall? Wine limits? Mandatory sleep hours? Just baffling if you think about it.. and to do it with a smile?

Where do people stay nowadays for the WPB shows?

I remember back in the day PGA National was awesome, with tons of AntsMarching.org folks, and one year there was even a DMB cover band playing after the show!

Looking to relive that vibe this year. Is it still PGA National, or has the crowd moved elsewhere?

Ticket prices have crashed....

You can easily get great/good seats under $200 for most shows, probably going to dip below $100 for certain shows.

Some shows are doing exceptionally well but the vast majority are middle of the road and this isn't a middle of the road band when it comes to putting meats in the seats.

The real pain for the concert industry is next year, they just trained the entire country not to buy tix when they go on sale outside a select few acts/markets.

All of this is sad, I feel ripped off, people will be sitting next to us who paid half price in likely one of the premier DMB tour stops, WPB. The Friday show likely is dead forever come next year.

If you are a fan but was priced out, go look at all the shows within a few hours drive, you can likely snag great seats on the cheap, find a cheap motel and jam out.

Official DMB Central Park Sign

I wanted to share my official Central Park sign on here from when DMB played in 2003. I got it on Facebook marketplace along with a lot of other really incredible concert signage from someone who worked for the production company that helped put on the show.

Supposedly this was one of the entrance signs to Central Park that Mayor Bloomberg had swapped out for the show. Now it lives in the wall in my home studio.

Merch Q’s

Hey guys! First post on here
Finally decided that this would be the year I catch my first DMB show, coming all the way from Glasgow for the Forest Hills show, beyond excited!!
I’m coming to you guys because I’ve been scouring the internet looking for a decent photo of the merch tables this year and I’ve found all but one. I was wondering if you guys would be able to help me out with what they have for sale this year? In particular, are they selling the Crash 30 stuff at every show? I’ve seen the shirt hung up but are they also selling the record slipmats? Firedancer stickers? Will I be able to get the white shirt with big Firedancer on the back? Any and all photos, eyewitness accounts are would be very much appreciated. I’m thinking if I just do a haul at the show, it would save me a ridiculous amount on shipping 😂
Thanks a lot and catch you guys there!

Sick after Houston/Dallas

Just checking the sub in case anyone else fell ill after attending the Houston/Dallas shows. I came down with the nastiest infection I’ve had since covid. Absolute mess. Anyway, if not a thing - good for yall, this has been the pits.

The Wharf

Pumped for the show. Bringing my son on a little graduation road trip. I worry about the set, though. It's Memorial Day, so I figure it'll have a special energy, but it's also Monday after a big rest before the next leg of the tour and there are lots of tickets left... what y'all think?

Any Kurt Vonnegut Fans Here???

Eat, Drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die! Discovered this quote in one of Kurt Vonnegut’s many masterpieces, Cat’s Cradle, not only a few days after hearing Tripling Billies for the 3rd or 4th time and finally having it click that time on my camping trip

Any other DMB fans into who I believe to be the greatest author of the 20th century?

Old School Warehouse Merch Order Form

Found a sealed copy of Live in Chicago at work for 2.99 and had to pick it up, turns out it had an untouched warehouse merch order form in addition to the regular booklet! Cool stuff! Physical media supremacy!

Edwin Starr’s anthem

Would love to hear DMB cover Edwin Starr’s incredible song “War”. Made for this band. And if there was ever a time, it would be now.

Cha Cha love

I loved Cha Cha in 2023 when it debuted, and seeing it in Charlotte Saturday, man it is so good. It seems more polished than it did originally, which is great. Just loving this song, the vibe, the lyrics. I am hoping it sticks around in the rotation. I also love that Dave has said (many times) that the song is called Cha Cha but that it continues to be called Only Takes a Moment on the website. That's it, just putting love out there for this song!

Also I saw (somewhere on the internet) someone thought it was about dead grandparents but I hear more of pining and lost love and wanting to be over someone but not being over them. Interesting how different people interpret songs differently (like I'll Back You Up...but that's a different discussion entirely.)

Vinyl Release

Can anyone help me understand how DMB chooses when to release their vinyl records of Live Trax? I was at the Alpharetta show (DMB Live Trax Vol. 71: 07/25/2023 - Ameris Bank Amphitheatre) a few years ago and it was incredible so when I saw that the warehouse had the CD option I ordered it. But when will the vinyl be released and / or available on Spotify? Any ideas?
