Alright, this is either going to be a great idea or the beginning of a Netflix documentary. 😂
I'm 22 years old from Washington, DC, and I recently realized something...
I literally have no friends.
Yeah... as sad as that sounds. 💀 So at this point, I'm basically accepting applications. 😂
I'm looking to meet people around my age who are entrepreneurs, starting their entrepreneurial journey, or simply people who are ambitious and trying to build something with their lives.
I'm looking for genuine people who would rather talk about business ideas, goals, things they're learning, places they want to explore, experiences they've had, accomplishments they're proud of, and what they're working toward next.
I'm not really interested in the usual conversations about drama, gossip, partying every weekend, or just talking about random bullshit for hours. I'd rather be around people who actually inspire each other, challenge each other, learn from each other, and push each other to become better.
I'm especially interested in people who have big goals and are serious about creating something for themselves. I want to meet people who are building businesses, investing, creating, exploring different opportunities, and constantly looking for ways to level up their lives. Basically, people who have a lot going on and aren't afraid to think bigger.
A little about me: I'm 22, I'm from DC, and I'm the founder of 88 Studio. Our motto is "We Create Experiences."
We're not just a nightlife business. That's only one part of what we're building. The bigger vision is creating experiences, communities, and projects that bring people together and eventually grow into something much bigger.
I'd love to actually meet up somewhere in the DMV rather than just becoming another Reddit username we occasionally message. 😂 We could grab coffee, explore DC, work on our own projects together, talk business, check out new places, or just hang out and see if we click.
If you're also looking for genuine friends who are ambitious, curious, and trying to make something out of their lives, feel free to reach out.
You can comment here or email me directly:
And if this post somehow leads to an actual friend group, I'll consider Reddit officially useful for once. 😂
Moved to the DMV a while back and realized the hardest part of living here isn't the commute or the rent, it's actually meeting people once you're past the "college friend group" stage. Everyone's busy, everyone works a lot, and it's easy to end up with a full week and an empty weekend.
So I built The DMV Hub, a Discord-first community for adults 22+ across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. The idea is simple: less swiping and scrolling, more actually showing up. Game nights, food crawls, rooftop hangouts, hikes, mixers, that kind of thing, organized by zone (U Street, Silver Spring, Arlington, Bethesda, and more) so you're not driving 45 minutes for a Tuesday hangout.
It's still small and early, and that's exactly why I'm posting. The more people who join, the more zones and activities we can actually get going. Doesn't matter if you want to just lurk and see what pops up, or if you want to help plan stuff, everyone's welcome. No app, no algorithm, just a Discord link and an actual plan to show up to.
If you're new to the area, working from home a lot, or just tired of your social life depending on the two friends who still text back, come say hi: discord.gg/dC8vPZmXx9
Happy to answer questions here too.
Making genuine friends as an adult is harder than it should be, so I’m putting myself out there. Looking to meet some other guys in the DMV who are down for good food, movies, car shows, museums, hiking, traveling, weekend adventures, or even just grabbing a drink and talking.
I’m easygoing, professionally established, clean, respectful and pretty open-minded. I’m not looking for an online pen pal or anything with a hidden agenda—just genuine friendship and good company. If we click, great. If we become the guys who randomly decide on Friday to catch a flight somewhere Saturday, even better. 😂
If you’re in NoVA/DC/MD and looking to expand your circle too, shoot me a message and tell me a little about yourself.
This is Zayna. I volunteer with Rad Ranch Rescue and have had the pleasure of spending alot of time with her. Lemme tell you - SHE 👏🏻 IS 👏🏻 AWESOME 👏🏻!
I have watched her interact with men, women, kids, cats, dogs, poultry and she is a literal gem to all she meets. She is a 3 year old Border Collie mix and has been at the rescue her entire life. Why, you may ask? We have no clue. Being Border Collie, she has her energy (so maybe that's a turn off?) BUT she also knows how to chill out.
Are you an active human who wants a dog to run/hike/brewery/adventure with? ZAYNA ✅️
Or maybe you've been searching for a playmate for your friendly, active pup? ZAYNA ✅️
Perhaps, if it's not you, you have a friend who fits the above criteria? ZAYNA ✅️
This legit #1 fun gal is available to foster or adopt through Rad Ranch Rescue (@radranchrescue on Instagram for more cute Zayna/other adoptable dog and cat content)
As the title says. I got a job out of BWI airport and will need to drive there on average 5x a month, approx once a week. Seriously considering living in Northern Virginia because I used to live there and loved it. Ideally closer to the mountains and further away from DC. Wondering if anyone regularly does the Leesburg to BWI commute? (Choosing VA over MD due to a few reasons, tax being a major one)
Times of day I'd be driving toward BWI are
4-5am, or more often around 1-2pm
Returning would be either
2-3pm or late night, after 10pm
Live in S. Baltimore close to 95 on good side of tunnel, currently work north of city but may be changing jobs to outside of DC in the Rockville or Bethesda areas. Any experiences on doing that commute? I guess taking 200 is a must? Expectations on time each way? Any best times to leave or come back? Times to avoid? TIA!
Hey y’all! I’m 30, single, Black with Caribbean roots, currently living in Brooklyn, and seriously thinking about moving to DC/the DMV sometime next year.
I’m currently a federal employee and would ideally like to stay within the federal government, although I’m open to state/local government too. As long as I have a good, stable job lol. I’m expecting my salary to be around $80K–$85K+, possibly more depending on the position.
I’m basically using this next year to get myself together financially. My credit is fair but improving greatly, I’m paying down debt while saving, and I want to make sure I’m in a really good position before making such a big move. The goal is to move at 31.
Eventually I really want to buy a condo, but I absolutely do not want to move somewhere new, immediately buy, and then realize I hate the area 😭. My thought was to rent for at least a year, possibly in Silver Spring or DC, learn the DMV, figure out what I like/don’t like, and THEN decide where I’d want to buy.
I’ve considered staying in NYC and moving to the Bronx, but everything here is just so damn expensive. At this point I don’t even know if buying a condo in the Bronx would realistically make sense for me.
I did spend a week in DC recently and absolutely fell in love with it. We explored, went to the African American History & Culture Museum, tried different restaurants and lounges, and honestly had a BALL. 😂 DC reminded me a little bit of NYC, just… cleaner lol. I also really enjoyed the Caribbean / hispanic food/culture I came across.
Obviously visiting somewhere for a week and actually LIVING there are two completely different things, which is exactly why I’m here asking y’all.
For anyone who lives in DC/MD/Northern VA .. what areas would you recommend for a single woman making around $80K–$85K+? How is public transportation? Can I realistically live comfortably without a car, or would you recommend eventually getting one?
And especially for NYC transplants: how was the adjustment? How’s the weather? Nightlife? Dating? 👀 , like how’s the men? I heard they’re professional but ratchet 😂 Making friends? Cost of living? What do you love / hate about the DMV?
I’m open to DC, Maryland, or Northern VA, so I’d love to hear the pros and cons of each. And if you’re also a government employee or moved there for government work, I’d love to hear how that transition has been too.
Basically give me the GOOD, BAD AND UGLY. 😂 Be honest. Be blunt. Tell me what you wish somebody told you before you moved.
I have plenty of time before I make any crazy decisions, so right now I’m just researching and trying to make the smartest move possible.
And thank you in advance for reading my long drawn-out post. As you can clearly see, I over-explain. 😭
I'm new to Baltimore. I sell political messaging art (deployed with humor and joy) at festivals and markets. I'm wondering what the vendor vibe is like at Charm City Live, which is in its fifth year, happening September 5. Do local makers and artists and small businesses selling things set up as vendors? Is there an audience for buying high quality 100% organic tees and things like message buttons and stickers? Thanks for any info you can give about whether this event "works" or if it's just a hot mess.
When I was looking at houses around the DMV, I kept finding myself opening a bunch of different websites to research each neighborhood.
One site for crime, another for schools, another for property information, another for demographics, etc.
So I decided to put it all in one place.
I built SaferNeighbor, which lets you enter an address and pull together information about the surrounding neighborhood, including:
It's currently working pretty reliably throughout Maryland, DC, and Virginia, with other areas being added.
It's completely free to try. I'd genuinely love to hear from people in the DMV who are house hunting, already own a home, or just know their neighborhood well.
Is this something you'd actually find useful? What information would you want to see that I'm missing?
I recently retired, and one of the things that I found most frustrating about the arts scene in DC was just trying to find everything that was going on in the area. So, I built an app! (As one does.)
These are events matched to your taste. You control the venues, neighborhoods, and types of events you want to see. And it learns more about you as you use it. No more looking at dozens of different curated mailing lists to find what you're looking for, it's all here.
Also, if you do find that I'm missing a venue or an organization, please leave me feedback in the app! It covers over 130 venues and organizations right now, but I'm happy to add more, including yours. All I ask is that it have a website with a separate page with a clearly defined event calendar, and that it be focused on arts in the DC area. Classical music, popular music, theater, dance, comedy, museums, art exhibits, it doesn't matter. If it has to do with the arts in DC, I want to be sure people can find it on this app.

I graduated in December 2025 at VCU with a bachelor's degree in Marketing with a concentration in Product and Brand Management. I have been looking for employment for the last 9-10 months and have had no luck. I've had a handful of interviews here and there but nothing ever sticks. I have almost 3 years of marketing experience in my current role at a retail shop here in Richmond doing their marketing initiatives but it looks like the job market is looking for more experience. There's barely any entry level/associate level positions available in NOVA and I've even looked into internships too. I'm starting to branch out to apply to other forms of business like management, E-commerce, or customer service but still nothing. Honestly, I've been looking at anything that pays decently well that uses my degree. It's gotten to the point where i've looked at temp jobs just to get me back in the NOVA area but I'm really looking to start my career. Is there anything ya'll can think of? Any recent openings you'd think I'd fit well in that I may have not heard of. My main ways of looking for jobs is Linkedin and Indeed which I know can be hit or miss and I'm also aware of the current job market but I assumed i'd be able to get past it. I've sent out hundreds if not thousands of applications at this point and they all return with either rejections, no responses, or its some Devil Corp advertising their commision based sales job as an entry level marketing position. PLEASE HELP!
Construction on the Torpedo Factory began on November 12, 1918, one day after the armistice ended World War I. Torpedoes began rolling off its production line in 1920. The complex expanded during World War II, then spent years as federal storage space, holding objects ranging from congressional records to surplus dinosaur bones.

Hey,
Looking for videographer in the DMV to shoot music videos, bts shots, and vlog type videos. I have the camera equipment and the editing software. I’m great at editing and coming up with concepts just don’t have anyone to shoot. If you’re interested please DM me. If you know someone let me know as well.
I miss Shenandoah West Virginia but I’m not going to get out there this summer is there anything along the way to DC from Baltimore? I need to a beautiful view before I head back into corporate hell any recommendations?
