I stopped by hoping to grab some of the Black Maple Hill, but they were all sold out so I picked up this bottle instead. Not a bad trade, I’ve always wanted to try the OESO.

Was given an 3/4 full bottle from a pal, its amazing, 120proof beautiful bottle and art work
I hunt hard had never seen it anywhere before, but I found some at the “Spirit Shop on Falls Road” in Baltimore
It was under $100 all in
I crushed the 3/4 bottle in 2 nites so damn good
So if your looking for something not everyone has on their shelf I’d go get one plus owner is really nice and they have a few other “what’s this “ type bottles

Every once in awhile I venture out of my normal wheelhouse and try something that I don’t already have on my shelves. Calvert Woodley surprised me when I found out they had 10-year single barrel rye coming in from Whistle Pig. I mainly grabbed it last week because I’ve generally have had good luck with their store picks over the years, and this went as expected.
Right away I got a nice mix of caramel, vanilla, and baking spices with a little mint that I expect in rye. My palate is nowhere near as sophisticated as many of you in the group but I def picked up rye spice immediately, but it stayed balanced with brown sugar, toasted oak, and just enough sweetness to keep it approachable. The finish was just as interesting with pepper, oak, and a hint of cinnamon coming thru for me.

Been on the hunt for reasonably priced 12 and wheat 1792.

Saw LAX Wine & Spirits in Beltsville post these today, made the drive after work, and managed to snag one of the last bottles. Looking forward to cracking it open. Anyone else tried the new Black Maple Hill yet?
