Who are you banning for each role? (Worst matchups)

For me I haven’t really found a tank that makes me uncomfortable. I kinda ban mauga tho because he out ranges me. For dps, I’m figuring out I don’t like sym or torb (d.mon kinda feels like tracer to me) because their turrets really slow me down and expose me. Oh and Mei actually seems to be a solid counter cutting off my retreats. And for support, I really only figured I don’t like Ana because her sleep dart shuts me down completely.

Who are yall banning / focusing?

D.mon - "Gundam Pilot" Skin Concept

If we can get Le Seraphim for a 3rd time, I can get my gal D.mon a Gundam collab. Don't look too closely I tried shading as best I could.

D.Mon has a "free look" shield feature like Rein's, buried in her advanced hero settings

I haven't seen anyone talking about D.Mon being able to free-look while shielding (like Reinhardt), so I suspect not many players have found it yet. It seems potentially pretty strong with her omni-directional booster movement, to navigate more precisely while continuing to block.

She can't do it with the default settings, but if you go into D.Mon's hero settings and turn on Advanced > Use Surging Strike with Quick Melee and keep Use Over-the-Shoulder Third Person Camera to the default value of "off", then holding primary fire while shielding allows you to freely turn the camera without turning the hero. She has tank controls in free-look by default, but you can turn on Movement Relative to Camera During Power Barrier Free Look (which Rein has on by default).

In case you don't know what I'm talking about, or just want to see a demonstration, I slapped together a quick video. It covers the free-look mechanics for Rein and D.Mon, and how they interact with settings (and perk choice, for Rein).

Edit: I was focused on the existence of the free-look feature, because it's extremely non-obvious that the buried Use Surging Strike with Quick Melee unlocks it. I only figured it out because I noticed Movement Relative to Power Barrier During Free Look.

But, as others have pointed out, another major benefit to Use Surging Strike with Quick Melee is preventing accidentally using Surging Strike when trying to swing after shielding. In the video, I demonstrate the analogous setting for Reinhardt's Shield Slam major perk, which has the same benefits. I think both of those settings were inspired by Brig's Quick Melee, which swings her mace just like primary fire, but without the possibility of triggering Shield Bash.

Here's hoping that Vendetta may receive a Quick Melee option for Projected Edge too.

Dmon needs more presence.

Before you say anything.

Yes.

I am aware that she is a giant mech with a sword... but that kinda feels like it.

Her kit is fun. She can make some plays. She can be a tank. But all of her abilities, even her Ult, feels very... unmentionable. Let me try to explain:

When you think of the other tanks, all of them have some ability that can change the direction of a fight if it is played well. Something that makes them unique. A CC, an extra boost here, a special barrier, a damage block. A cool down that you're actively playing against.

Dmon... doesn't have anything that makes her scary... unless it's just you vs. her, but that's any tank that you're alone with.

Even her Ult feels... disappointing, to put it bluntly. It's short, and if you play it even remotely wrong or heaven forbid somebody jumps slightly over it, that's it. Comparing her Ult to the other Tanks... it also has very little change sometimes. Coming from somebody playing against her.

I'm not going to waste time by listing all of my opinions on how I think they could improve her... but right now, as a Tank going against her, she feels bland to play against. I know people have had a lot of fun with her, and there have been some good Dmon players out there... but... where is her Sigma Rock? Her Zarya Bubble? Her Orisa Javelin? D.va Defense Matrix? Ramattra Nemesis Form?

Her name is Dmon. Why do I not feel like I'm fighting a Demon?

Hopefully, my rambling made sense. I just feel like Dmon needs more to her or her abilities that do more than just straight numbers.

Again, if you like her and are having fun with her or against her, I'm glad. I'm not saying she's bad. Something just feels like it's missing.

(I'll probably get destroyed by every Dmon I see for the next week, but Im just saying i want the Dmon mains to have more. Not a buff. Just more... oomph.)

This character absolutely decimates QP lobbies lol

She’s busted af against an uncoordinated team. I’ve played her since release and dear god, the only thing that can stop me in QP is me (and maybe specific comps like Mauga Bastion Zen).

Easily the most dynamic tank in the game. Easily the best 1v1 machine tank. Easily the best at running down low HPs.

Most HP in the game, add a 650 shield on top of that. Can weave in fights like Tracer, can gun down a low HP flier fleeting away. Just utterly demolishes squishies and mogs tf out of fellow brawlers (Rein, Brig, Vendetta).

I’m scared of a nerf tbh. She’s really, really good.

Which perks do y'all usually use?

Normally I can just type "Perk" into the subreddit of "___ Mains", or "___ perks" the main Ow subreddit, but with D. Mon being changed around so much in just a week, it's been tough to find those types of posts easily this time around for it.

So what does everyone feel are her best perks?

Anyone have any tips for counters on D.mon?

Just wondering if anyone has any advice for fighting tanks like Reinhardt, domina and doomfist? I've had some matches where I feel I cant do anything to them like with doom I just cant catch up to him and if I try to peel for my team but if I try taking out his team I just explode without my supports. And Reinhardt who hits through all of my abilities.

I made a video guide with a bunch of fundamental DMON tech that almost nobody is using or talking about.

How to Play DMON like a Demon in Overwatch

TLDR: The primary focus of the video is about "boost jumping". When combining boost and jump, DMON moves further, faster, and for less boost. She can use it to climb up objects/terrain, suddenly pounce/retreat, and quickly strafe around enemies. It seamlessly mixes with all of her other tech, and is the key to understanding her rhythm/positioning. Any DMON not building their playstyle around this stuff is moving in slow motion.

Most important tech discussed:

  • Boost Jump + Slash lets you instantly pounce on people or land free hits while retreating.
  • Boost Jump + Slash sideways can circle/strafe around enemies at point blank, confusing them.
  • Boost Jump + Shield (aka Shield Hop) allows DMON to move suddenly while shielded. Shield Hop is also Reinhardt tech.
  • Slash can be cancelled into block (aka Slash Block) so that the hitbox for slash comes out but DMON barely drops her shield. This is also basic Reinhardt tech.
  • Boost Jump + Slash Block allows DMON to suddenly attack/retreat while landing free hits and still being mostly shielded.
  • Boost Jump + Gun allows DMON to suddenly attack/retreat while shooting. Doing this straight into a Reaper can kill him starting from 20 meters. This is also basic DVA tech.
  • Boost Jump + Thrust increases its range beyond 15 meters in total.
  • Ultimate + Thrust kills squishies. The hitbox on Thrust is extremely wide.
  • Ultimate + Boost Jump + Thrust can kill a squishie starting from 20 meters away.

DMONs basic positioning is holding corners/chokes. Boost Jump gives her explosive movement that allows her to suddenly be in/out of range of targets. She can be here one second and there the next. Though her shield protects her poorly, the mobility from boost jumping mitigates damage to the shield. By leaping from cover to cover with Boost Jump, DMONS overall defense drastically increases. Her general rhythm is to shield hop out from cover, land some free hits on a target, then shield hop back into cover. In other words: charge her ult a little, ideally land a kill, soak up a bit of damage, then leap back to her healers and help them charge their ults. DMONS should avoid being out in the open unless the enemy has lost their position or she has full resources for a quick in/out.

So far, I've only seen 1 other DMON who plays like me and she was an absolute monster.

Got the hang of Dmon

I moved over to Marvel rivals but came back to try out the new tank, she’s a lot of fun! 13 wins in a row. She’s very versatile good damage and has good match ups with most tanks.

D.Mon VFX Colors suggestion

This bugging me a lil bit, but the new weapon skin from ultimate BP is yellow, why is her slash and ultimate still green, shouldnt they make it yellow and any color depending on weapon color?

Gremlin Dmon face inspired by the old gremlin Dva arts

Since we got a new meka hero I drew her face like the 2017 gremlin Dva memes.

u/Pinku_Dva — 2 days ago

I wish D.Mon would lose her cool and get really angry or passionate during intense moments. It would’ve been a really cool personality trait for her to have.

What made me think of it was during LilyPichu’s (D.Mon’s VA) reaction of her reading the comic, at one point she mentioned how when D.Mon says “I’m not D.Va!”, she had initially screamed it a lot louder, but they told her to redo it more reserved. Which was a terrible decision, her yelling super loud there and losing her cool could’ve really added depth to D.Mon’s personality, but now instead she’s just a completely one note, cool cucumber. Maybe even a bit too similar to D.Va.

Edit: what also made me think of it was in Overwatch’s recent tweet where they showed D.Mon concept art, she has a really intense facial expression, even kind of “unflattering”, because her face is all scrunched up. So they clearly had the same idea for her personality when making her, it just doesn’t come across at all in any of her voice lines in game.

As a LW Main: How do you DmonMains want to be gripped?

A (good) Lifeweaver Main has to always learn when they should grip someone. Gripping a 50HP Rein with shatter ready-to-go is sometimes the wrong move, even when it seems tempting to just press E when you see their health bar. And honestly that takes a lot of practice to learn, cause it varies wildly depending on the hero, their awareness and their skill-level

And I wanna be honest: I struggle with Dmon. Some want to be demeched (for whatever reason), some want to be saved from being demeched. Some want to use her ult like rein shatter or winston primal and surprise the enemy team who's going for the kill.

Obviously a lot of Dmon-players are just learning her herself, so the reponse to grip varies way more than the established "almost never grip a winston who has primal ready", so I thought I'd ask here how you guys would prefer to be gripped

(yes i know there will be at least one funny dude saying "never" har har. that is valid, some hate lifegrip, all good, but its not helpful really)
