I'm currently taking 02247 Compiler Construction at DTU and our oral group exam is coming up soon. I've read the official course page which says it starts with a short group presentation (1 min per member) followed by individual questions, but I'd love to hear from people who've actually been through it.

A few things I'm curious about:

- How strict are the examiners about your own contributions vs. the overall project? Did they only ask about the tasks you personally implemented?

- What kind of theory questions came up — was it mostly about your specific implementations or general compiler concepts (type checking, code generation, RISC-V, etc.)?

- How long did the individual questioning part actually last in practice?

- Any topics that caught you off guard that are worth preparing for?

- General tips for doing well?

I’m a chemical engineer with an integrated Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering (5-year program), and I’ve recently been admitted to both:
the MSc in Sustainable Energy Technologies at DTU

the MSc in Chemical Engineering at TU Delft, where I would follow the energy track

My main interests are modelling and simulation for energy-related projects, especially areas like carbon capture and sustainable fuels.
I’m currently struggling to decide between the two programs.
At TU Delft, many of the courses seem somewhat repetitive compared to what I already covered during my undergraduate studies. However, the program includes an industry-oriented design project, an internship, and the possibility of doing my thesis in collaboration with a company. Because of that, I feel I could gain valuable industry exposure, networking opportunities, and perhaps a more internationally recognized degree that could open doors in Central Europe.
On the other hand, the DTU program seems much more specialized in the energy sector itself. It offers focused courses on topics like carbon capture and sustainable fuels, and there’s also the possibility of working as an associate student in an energy company during my studies. Academically, it feels more aligned with the knowledge I want to gain.
My main dilemma is that I’m not sure where I want to work after graduation. I don’t know whether I’ll stay in Denmark or try to move to Central Europe afterward. I also don’t fully know how DTU is perceived internationally, although I know it has a very strong reputation, especially in energy engineering.
I would really appreciate any opinions on:
which program might be better for career opportunities

industry recognition/reputation

job prospects across Europe

or any personal experiences with either university/program

I am a non-eu student joining DTU this September and I have accepted a housing offer in the Linde Alle dorms administered by BDTU, I have heard mixed things about life and facilities at the accommodations so want to know more about how people who have lived here actually found the experience.

I have had a pleasant experience till now in terms of promptness of all the formalities from the BDTU side and also being amicable in making dispensations where needed (of course to a reasonable extent) and also being quite available to clear any queries etc. However, it's not unheard of such organisations to be nice and amicable in the beginning and once u have signed the lease and are in the dorm to leave you to your own devices, I have also heard some people mention then being stingy with returning the refundable deposit paid in the beginning to the point of outcry. Now idk how much of this is exaggeration and how much is actually a problem most people have to deal with, thankfully I signed up just for a 6 month period as of now as it is also a relatively expensive accommodation, just that they pretty much assured me of a place and the benefit of it being relatively closer to campus and coming furnished seemed like it took care of headaches I might have to deal with in other accommodation options.

Now I am making this post as I want to be prepared before stepping into the accommodation, I want to know what problems current/past tenants face(d) and how your experience has been, are the staff responsive, are people in general well mannered and proper or is it a mixed bag? Any and all inconveniences or good experiences are welcome, things from the hard water ruined my hair! to the security is lax, please tell me what u went through, how common is it and how to prepare for it.

Of course all tips are welcome, for some context, I come from India and have experience living away from home before in a dorm so I have dealt with some of these inconveniences myself but I would like to know the state of this particular accommodation, so any and all comments are GREATLY appreciated and sincerely welcome, even tips on socializing or rituals of your dorms that made it easier to get along with others living there (maybe I can steal a few to make it a better experience from the start) things u learned overtime that you wish you knew before! Also moving in and out tips, I understand it's a safe practice to record images/videos of your rooms' state before occupying the area to make sure you are able to leave it in a similar state. But I am sure I have missed a dozen and wouldn't even have thought of many more, so any and all advice are extremely welcome! So please help me prepare for my time with BDTU! 😃

I’m facing a major dilemma regarding my university choice in Denmark and could really use some insights from current students or alumni.

I’ve been looking into two options:

1. DTU: BSc in General Engineering
2. SDU: BEng in Mechanical Engineering

On one hand, DTU is a world-class technical university with massive prestige, great networking, and a huge campus. However, the General Engineering program gives a BSc (academic bachelor), meaning I’d pretty much have to commit to a 2-year Master’s degree afterwards to get proper engineering credentials and specialized jobs.

On the other hand, SDU offers a BEng in Mechanical Engineering. It's 3.5 years, includes a mandatory internship, and makes me a fully qualified Mechanical Engineer ready for the job market right after graduation. SDU is great, but obviously doesn't have the same global ranking/prestige as DTU.

I lean towards mechanical engineering, but the reputation of DTU are hard to ignore.

For those who studied either:

• Is the DTU name worth doing a 5-year track (3+2) instead of the quick 3.5-year route at SDU?
• How is the student life and housing situation comparing Lyngby/Copenhagen to Odense/Sønderborg?
• If you did General Engineering at DTU, did you feel well-prepared for a mechanical/structural Master's?

Hi everyone! I applied for the MSc in Sustainable Energy Systems in late February. I’m an EU applicant, so I expected to receive a response by May 15 at the latest, but my application status in the portal is still “Assessment in progress”.

Has any other EU applicant for this programme received a response yet?

I was checking out what subjects one has to take during this program and a vast majority seem to end in an oral exam (at least according to course descriptions). Is it true? Are they actual oral exams that determine your final grade? Or just one/a few simple questions regarding something done during the course, like homework, reports, lab work etc.?

I have found that in other universities I considered most subjects end in a written exam, so I was surprised.

Unfortunately I was not born with the ability to nonsense my way through an exam and therefore hate orals. The exam type is a major factor for me when choosing the university.

I recently received an offer from BDTU for a studio apartment at Linde Alle Student Residence, and I was wondering if anyone who has stayed at one of their studios could tell me how their experience was. Also, they are asking for 6800 DKK in base rent (without utilities), so around 7400 DKK for everything. Is this a reasonable amount or do you think I can find something cheaper. I already have a place to stay until December in Denmark so I do have the option of rejecting the BDTU offer and taking my time in searching for a better place if that's a smart thing to do. Also, they say that the gross area of the studio is 42 sqm, but that's including shared spaces making the number kinda useless. Anyone know approximately how large the actual studio is? I'm hoping someone here has gone through a similar situation with the "pre-commencement credit transfer" or knows how Study Administration handles this.

My situation:

• I am currently enrolled in the MSc in Design and Innovation.
• I am taking Computer Vision this spring semester as a free elective.
• I have been admitted to change my study programme to the MSc in Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HCAI) starting this September.
• In the HCAI programme, Computer Vision is part of a semi-mandatory pool (restricted electives), so it is not strictly mandatory on its own.

My question: If I happen to fail the Computer Vision exam this semester, what happens when my new MSc starts in September?

Will the failed attempt be automatically transferred to my new HCAI study record? If so, does that mean I am "bound" to retake and pass Computer Vision, or is the binding cancelled because it's just a restricted elective, allowing me to simply pick a different course from that pool for HCAI?

My admission letter mentions that passed "common courses" are automatically transferred, but it doesn't specify what happens with failed attempts for courses that aren't strictly mandatory in the new plan.

Has anyone experienced something similar when changing master's programmes? Thanks in advance!

Has anyone been accepted, rejected or waitlisted for CSE this week? Does anyone know the baseline?

I'm going to pay the first month's rent and deposit fee. However, after entering my card details, I was shocked to see an additional non-EU card fee of 776.36 dkk. Are there any alternative payment methods available for non-EU students? I only have two days left before the payment deadline.

Hi, has anyone got any old exam sets for the mentioned courses lying around. In Introduction to AI, the only thing we have been given so far, is a practice exam which has been reused since 2023.

For Optimization with decomposition we have only received a few mock exam questions, not a full set.

I forgot to withdraw from the exam before May 1st, but I am for sure not qualified to take the exam. I am missing the requirements and honestly it doesn't even fit my master very well.

Is there any possibility I can still withdraw from this course if I don't take the first exam and try to apply for the exemption without medical justification?
