We recently went on a DCL and did the DVC tour- we are really interested in becoming members, but as I research more, we might do a resale contract. Can someone explain this to me vs direct like I'm in kindergarten lol. Also, I should probably note that we mainly want to use it for international Disney parks and international affiliate travel, but I don't understand the points system. We don't *necessarily* care about the DVC perks, as we are passholders to WDW and DL, and we have a Disney Visa. I just don't get how if I bought a resale contract for, let's say, Aulani or Boulder Ridge as low as $88pp (roughly total points for each yearh starting in 2026 50|100|50) how does this affect transferring points and using them for said travel and other resorts that aren't the "home" resort. I feel like I'm being dense, just not understanding the points and chart mechanisms??

DVC's fall incentive announcement included a note that Riviera is now 95% sold: 6,739,966 total points, with about 378,500 left as of October 7th, 2026.
If you set aside the roughly 2% Disney is reported to retain (about 134,800 points), that leaves around 243,700 points to sell. DVC News's monthly reports show Riviera averaging about 50,600 points per month from January through August 2026, which works out to roughly 4.8 months. That lands around late February 2027, with a realistic range of mid-February to mid-April depending on pace.

The 5 night cruise departs Fort Lauderdale on January 5, 2028, and visits Castaway Cay, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, and Nassau before returning January 10.

Walt Disney World Annual Pass prices increased again today, with every pass tier seeing an increase for both new purchases and renewals.
The biggest jump is the Incredi Pass at $120. For DVC Members, the Sorcerer Pass increases $40, bringing the new purchase price to $1,139 and the renewal price to $969, plus tax.

DVC released its Fall 2026 direct incentives, and I put together a full resort-by-resort breakdown comparing them to Summer. The short version: this round favors first-time buyers, while most larger add-ons took a step back now that Welcome Home Weeks is over.

There's also a Bay Lake Tower flash sale, similar to past sales at Saratoga Springs, Animal Kingdom Lodge, and Old Key West. Base price is $275/pt before incentives, so even with a discount, expect it to price well above the actively selling resorts.
Lakeshore Lodge: nothing official, but with this round running through December 9 and the holidays after that, I don't see sales starting before early 2027. January or February feels most likely. My wife and I are hoping to buy there ourselves, so I'm watching closely.

DVC Member cash booking for Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge opened today, October 6th, at 9 a.m., so we spent the morning on hold with Member Services trying to get some of the first pricing for the resort.
For opening day, July 1, 2027, these are the nightly cash rates we were quoted:
• Duo Studio, Preferred View: $494.44
• Deluxe Studio, Preferred View: $628.60
• Resort Studio, Club Access: $869.92
• One-Bedroom Villa, Resort View: $858.10
• One-Bedroom Villa, Preferred View: $961.04
• Two-Bedroom Villa, Preferred View: $1,587.10
• Two-Bedroom Lakehouse: $3,621.37
All of those prices include taxes and fees.
A couple of important notes: this is not a complete opening-week rate chart. These are simply the quotes we were able to get from Member Services for July 1st while also trying to make our own reservations. Since everyone is calling at the same time, we didn’t want to keep asking an agent to price out every possible room and date while other Members were waiting.
It’s still a helpful first look at where Lakeshore Lodge cash pricing is landing, especially across the different room categories. The jump to the Lakehouses is certainly noticeable, with the Two-Bedroom Lakehouse coming in at more than $3,600 for opening night.

I have a direct DVC membership since the 90s, with OKW.
If I decided to buy a resell contract for a different home resort, is there an advantage to buying one over the other?
Thinking geographically Aulani or Disneyland Hotel. Im assuming this helps book further out? I dont know what i dont know.
Wouldn’t it be nice if DVC/Annual Pass owners got Disney+/Hulu included in their membership. Something simple but ties right into DVC membership imo
We recently returned to Aulani for the first time in a few years, so this week’s DVC Show is basically our full download on whether we think it is worth making the trip and using DVC points there.
We get into the point value, pools, beach, food, Rainbow Reef, luau, resort activities, transportation, exploring Oʻahu, rental cars, and some of the things we would do differently next time.
One of the biggest things that struck us going back is just how different Aulani feels compared with the Walt Disney World DVC resorts. It really does feel like its own thing within DVC.
