CS Major theater minor?

Hello! I went on a tour of Dal a few months ago and LOVED it, but the one thing that made me a little sad was that the tour guide said there’s no opportunity for a theater minor. When I checked the website though, it said that there is a theater minor. Is it possible to minor in theater at Dal as a CS major or not?? Is it possible to still participate in musicals/plays if you aren’t a theater major?? I’m looking into both Carleton and Dal and I don’t know which I like better, since I like Dal’s school spirit and stuff better but there’s pros and cons to both.

MSc Occupational Therapy

Hi my partner is applying to OT school in the coming years at Dal,

We re wondering if taking 3 - 4 courses per semester is a bad look for the admissions committee when they review her application?

Wondering if anyone has any insights to this?

And I heard 68 seats are available, how many people generally apply? How competitive is this?

If anyone has input please let me know!

Accelerated Nursing Student Resources!

Hello!! I have a Google Drive folder with some visual tip sheets and Anki decks that I thought Dalhousie accelerated nursing students might find helpful. If you're interested, here is the link to the folder: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1QJWj5Xj8i-mnJDmHCfMvtY_OqT5Aya3g?usp=sharing

So far, it has resources for semesters 4 and 5. I'll keep adding to it as I progress through the program :)

If anything looks off, feel free to email or PM me! Note that the Anki decks contain some minor spelling errors as I typed out every card.

Sincerely,

A semester 5 student <3 (as of July 2026)

Academic integrity

I'm in a situation where a "friend" of mine is actively telling me they are stealing and submitting my assignment for a writing course (yes they are no longer a friend.), I have already emailed the professor and want to know what else I can do or what else I should do

Dental hygiene

Has anyone heard anything about dental hygiene starting at the end of August?

Since orientation I’ve gotten no emails on what to do or get. Supposedly there was an orientation package but I never got that either.

Can I focus or switch majors at Dalhousie?

I am a grade 11 Ontario student. I would like to study marine biology, I’m thinking of going to Dal. I would like to have a career with marine conservation, or a marine vet almost. What is the best way to get here?

A big worry I have about going to dal is that if I go straight into marine bio I will have less opportunities later on. So I’m wondering if it would be smart to go for biology than specialize/minor in marine biology later like in year 3 or 4?

And how would that work?

Any advice is useful!

Looking for Muslim roommate

I'm a new out of province female student looking to rent a place with other Muslim girls. I don't know anybody at Dal or the city in general. I have looked everywhere with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Switching programs

Hello! I’ve been accepted into the respiratory therapy program at Dalhousie starting in the fall.

I’m having some second thoughts and wondered if it is possible to apply to transfer programs to nursing or not??

SCIE 1111 Fall Semester: Am I Screwed?

Soooo I’m an incoming first year student. Super excited to be taking all of my science and math courses, and I also really love English classes. I decided to take SCIE 1111 (writing for the sciences) because I thought it would help me in scientific writing later on, and I could take more courses later which I find interesting. Plus I’m able to allegedly take more writing courses later (which will be fun electives)
However, I’ve heard that SCIE 1111 is awful and an absolute grade killer. Which is a problem for my future goals. So my question is, one, how screwed am I? And two, how do I maximize my chances of getting a good grade in this course? Or at least prevent it from bombing my all over GPA?
Thank you!

King’s FYP Advice

Hi everyone! I’m set to enter the FYP program as a journalism student this fall and I was wondering if there’s anything I can do this summer to prepare for it. I’ve heard from a lot of people that the program is very rigorous, so I wanna know if there’s anything I can do set myself up. Thank you!

Should I take the PREP PHYSICS course??

Hi! I’m a student going into my first year of undergrad at STFX, and I’m really really regretting not taking physics in High school… I’m thinking of maybe pursuing engineering in the future… or at least keeping that door open. I saw that Dalhousie has a pretty cheap online physics course during the summer (OLCD-UPPY0010 - UNIVERSITY PREP PHYSICS (PHYSICS 0010.00)), and I’m thinking of taking it. Here’s the thing. I have no prior knowledge of physics… like at all….

Questions: I was accepted and going to STFX for a general science with a major, but i would totally be open to switching programs in my second or third year if I wanted to, would they take this course as a physics course when I apply for engineering? Should I only take this if I have prior knowledge of physics? Or would I be fine? Has anyone else taken this course?

Thanks!
