Anyone know what’s up with the Computer Science Society?

Just got an email about the student union doing an investigation into its operations . Just wondering what’s going on

What counts as a Humanity/Social Science?

For pharmD admissions specifically, but should just be generalized; I'd like to take a French course, but can't understand if it counts as a Humanity. Is there somewhere specific to see what applies, I'd like to know what else counts.

Bereavement policies on Dal students

My grandparent passed away 4 days ago and I had an assignment due this Saturday. I had emailed the professor last Friday saying that I'm still grieving and that I may need a few days to complete the assignment however I told her that I will try my best to complete the assignment on Saturday. The professor didn't respond to email in three days because of the long weekend. I completed the assignment however I had a lot of difficulty concentrating and completing the assignment and I submitted it one hour late because I was still mourning as my grandparent passed away last Thursday. The professor responded to my email today evening and it was quite minimal and brief. She didn't even acknowledge that I suffered a great personal loss or gave me few grace days to complete the assignment. She just told me to submit the assignment on Saturday. Her email didn't seem warm or compassionate with my current situation and I'm truly disappointed by the way she responded. I'm wondering if this behaviour is normal from professors when students undergo a personal loss?

A UK 3-year bachelor's degree to apply to Dalhousie's master's.

Dear everyone,

I am going to apply to Dalhousie in 2027. I read that the university only accepts 4-year bachelor's degrees. While I only have a 3-year degree from the University of Greenwich (UK), do I have any chance to be accepted?

Thanks, guys.

Injured Pigeon

I have an injured pigeon on my balcony - thinking it may have flown into my window last night. It’s also refusing to drink the water and grain I left out for it.

311 redirected me to Hope For Wildlife who isn’t answering their phone.

Looking for assistance with getting little buddy patched up.

Frustrated with disbursement of funds

How long does it take to process funds? It always takes so many days after it was supposed to come. And when I email following up, the student accounts people are never helpful… and refunds of overpayments are similar!

Easy language class?

I’m in a Bachelor of Arts major so I need a language credit to graduate which if everything goes on track, should hopefully be happening two years from now.

I tried to take intermediate French this past year and found it annoying so I ended up dropping it in the first semester. I already knew some French so I figured it would be an easy ride but it was moreso just really tedious and was eating up a lot of my time. I’m open to learning really any language I’d just like a course that will be lower maintenance on my schedule.

got assigned my dorm, what should i know about henderson house in howe hall?

I got placed in a shared double in Henderson house even though I only had singles down in my top six. Someone please make me feel better about this. I really didn’t want to have to share a room and I’m scared that I’m gonna get an evil roommate or something lol

Engaged couple looking for roommate!

I am a psych major at Dal graduating after this coming year, and my fiancé works full-time as a cook. We are looking for a roommate to move in August 1st. We live in a 2-bedroom, 1.5 bath apartment in the south end of Halifax. It is a luxury building, with a gym and tenant convenience store in the lobby. We have a cat who does need to be alone for medical/stress purposes (so no other pets, sorry!), but he is GREAT with new people, just wants all the attention 😄. He is quite chatty so if that will bother you, please keep that in mind. We are quite neat, and I do have OCPD, so we will need a roommate that can match the cleanliness, and keep things organized. Your portion of rent would be 900$/month, and utilities is 75$/month (on average). Sobeys and the liquor store are across the street, and the waterfront is about a 10-15 mins walk away which is super nice. The bus stop is just down the block, and that can take you to the university very quickly. It's also about a 20-30 mins walk to campus depending on where you are heading.

Please reach out for any further information! Thanks and we look forward to chatting/meeting with those interested!

Is it too late to add a second program option?

I have decided I don’t want to do what I originally applied for. I already got accepted for it but I was wondering if I could add a second program now and accept that instead and still start in Fall 2026.

Or is it too late?

Bachelor of social work

I am looking into the dal online bachelor of social work program. Does anyone know if you can register as a social worker with just this program? Or do you have to take the msw as well. Any other insights to the program?

Early admission scholarships

Hi, I was wondering what grades people usually had when applying through early admission and how much they received in entrance scholarships especially for BSc. And if you have taken AP courses, does the scholarship amount go up? I’d really appreciate it if anyone could share their experience. I’m a high school student in Nova Scotia.

fun classes?

I am looking to take an actual interesting class! This upcoming year I won’t be able to participate in as many extra curriculars and so I will have more free time (hopefully).

I am super into art (film, visual art, not a theatre class because that is already my major) visual media, gender and sexuality, social media, the ocean, animals, and things alike!

Preferably not a super challenging class, just because I want it to be fun and something I actually enjoy doing and learning — moderate levels of challenging are okay, just no crazy work load as I’m majoring in something thats pretty high work load already — Thanks!!

Newcombe

I just got my room assignment for Newcombe and I was wondering if anyone could share their experience of what that residence was like? Is there any rodent or bug problems, are the bathrooms clean, is there elevators and can males visit the rooms? I got 2nd floor so I’m not too worried about if there is no elevator but was just curious.
