After a handful of tries, my LCD steam deck is sorta alive again.

For those who are having problems after scouring the internet for a "bricked" or non working lcd steam deck.

I initially left my steam deck uncharged after playing for a while. after 3 weeks to a month, i couldnt turn my steam deck on. Id press the power button, id hear the subtle chime but nothing on the screen. I can feel the haptics of the touch pad and the fans turn on and off intermittently.

ive tried things from reseating the nvme, removing the battery and putting it back and doing the various button combinations accompanied by removing and returning the original charger.

But after reaching out to steam support, what gave me the best outcome so far is doing this.

  • Ensure the device is fully powered down by holding the power button for 10 seconds or if possible select shutdown from the Power menu.
  • Once the device is shutdown, hold down both the volume - button and the "..." button, then press the power button once. Then you can release all the buttons.
  • You will hear a chime and then the white LED light will begin to blink (it may take 5 or more seconds before the blinking begins), which confirms this process is working.

I did not hear the chime in the last part but the led did start to blink. at this point i plugged the charger back in and the led started blinking and turning solid alternately. At this point i kept the charger plugged in and just left it. after a few minutes the logo of the steam deck appeared.

i just left it alone plugged in with the steam deck logo displayed and after a little less than an hour it booted up.

hope this helps someone!

SteamOS. Bottles does not detect sdcard games

Bottles is in flatpak

Games on internal storage are detected just fine

I have been trying to get my deck to detect the games on my sdcard and haven't had any luck. I ran ``flatpak override --user --filesystem=/run/media``, and then ran bottles, but my library still isn't showing up. This worked fine on my desktop arch install with the other ssds, but I haven't had the same luck here. Any suggestions?

Steamdeck turning off when charger is unplugged

As mentioned in the title, my deck dies when I try to unplug the charger. Initially before this, I had a problem with the charging as well. I noticed that my deck is charging ridiculously slow. For context, my charger uses 15V 3A charger with 65w. It's not the original one but I use this charger to charge both my thinkpad and steamdeck. The steamdeck was charging perfectly fine back then, so I don't know how this happened. Some of the stuffs that I tried when reading similar problems on this subreddit are:

- Drained the battery then charge it for 6-8 hours (it went up 45% only for 6hours)
- Went to battery storage mode (on bios)
- Charging it while shutdown/on desktop

Please help me out, I'm running out of idea. Do note that RMA is not an option on my case since it's not available on my country.

Edit: Reseating the battery worked for a day, I tried to use it with my USB C Hub from UGreen and I noticed that it kept on disconnecting from my steamdeck. The usb c hub is working fine on my laptop. What seems to be the issue on my case?? Please help me, I’ve been trying to fix this problem :<

Emulators Not Recognising External Controller

Been using my steam deck for emulation for a while, both docked and undocked, and never had any issues. A little while ago, whilst docked, emulators stopped recognising my external controller completely. Even weirder, the controller works perfectly fine in the front end, it’s only once I’ve opened a game that the controller stops working, and as far as I can tell it’s the case for every emulator. Still works normally undocked with the steam deck controls, but I’ve tried everything I can think of and still nothing when docked with an external controller. I’ve fiddled with settings in the front end, made sure my controllers are ordered right in steam input, even messed about with settings in individual emulators, but still nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciate :)

Asobi on Steam Deck

Hello everyone, hope you are having a great day. I have an issue with the app on steam deck. I downloaded, installed it and went through the main menu and found my console via WiFi. I followed the instructions and to pair the console I have to put some numbers. The problem is, that I can’t make the keyboard appear no matter what. Even though I use the shortcut (steam button + X) it won’t work. Does anyone else has the same problem or knows how to get over it? Thank you fellow gamers.

Decky ruined my steamdeck!

I’ve been frustrated for a few months now dealing with deckyloader. I finally bought another wired keyboard to try and reset the sudo password. When it gets to the screen to finally type in a new password the keyboard automatically stops working. Had to shut it off because it froze on this screen then a lot of words came up and I had to wait about 10 mins for it to rest. When it finally came back on a lot of games are freezing or just not loading up. Wish I never downloaded that damn thing
