240k miles and still drives better than my 02 civic :3
About to potentially pick up this 92, Manual Roof ESI. Just want a second opinion on this roof situation, current owner has mentioned that it has a minor leak in this spot - just want a second opinion on it before I pull the trigger?
Additional info about the car, 170k Miles. but good service history with 1 owner over the last 16 years. No rust. Anything else I should look out for?
Hoping join this community soon 🙏🏽
The owner before me put these beautiful JR26 wheels on my Del Sol with the only problem being that he didn’t get them legalized for the car.
He has no papers for them except the one in the 3rd picture..
Has anyone in Germany put those wheels on the Del Sol & got them registered?
I can’t find an Individual Parts Acceptance Report for these wheels on the Del Sol in the internet & wanted to ask if anyone on this app has one & would be so kind to send it to me.
The wheels I have are 16x8J ET25 8x100
The Report in the 3rd picture is a Fatigue & Impact Test Report by Hus & Hus but won’t be accepted by the TÜV.
They told me it is in English & therefore can not be used as an official Test Report.
Japan Racing (the manufacturer of this wheel) does not provide any form of Test Report for this wheel themselves.
Which is weird because the have tested many of their own wheels and listed multiple Test Reports.
Could someone let me know if the later cars had the lip/fake diffuser thing at the bottom of the rear bumper painted from the factory? Both of my previous cars had that part unpainted, but they were early cars (93 and 94), and this car has it painted white. This picture is from a BaT listing for a 1997 Si.
Unfortunately the original motor for this car (d16y8) blew a piston rod cap out of the block. Had it towed to a shop. They put a new engine in it. Aaaand they replaced it with what I believe is a non vtec d15b...disappointing. Not to mention it burns oil like a bitch, even after replacing the pcv valve which was a problem but not the problem. They didn't change the computer, harness, or even just tune it. They just looped the circuit as shown in photo. I took it back, and they said they would pay to get it tuned. But the tuner said they need to fix an underlying issue before they tune, which will cost a bunch and i doubt the shop will pay for that. So i dont know if I should get it tuned and pour more into this car or find a matching computer and harness and try to do it myself?
In 4th gear driving 60km/h my rpms are around 3k or a tad higher.
I've looked at so many forums and I still have no idea what could be causing this.
I did a smoke test and didnt see anything so I dont think theres a vacuum leak. Idles fine (expect cold start is around 2k).
Recently cleaned IACV
I have a B16A3 by the way
Sunday driving my del sol to an errand, there was a light rain that slicked the road. Tires lost their grip on a tight curve and I skidded into a guard rail at about 15-20 mph. Not a bruise on me, airbag didn’t deploy. But the front corner & hood staved in. Estimated $10k to repair.
I have to let her go.
I’m heartbroken. I bought my 1993 del sol si new when the car first arrived in the US. She was my everyday driving car until I became a Dad & we needed a sedan. We decided to keep the del sol as a weekend fun car.
As a toddler, my daughter loved going around the neighborhood in the “little blue car”. I could put her car seat in it and take her on little rides because there was no passenger side air bag. She’s in her 20’s now and made me promise to never sell it so she could have it someday. I haven’t had the heart to break the news to her yet.
For 34 years and 163,000 miles I have driven, taken car of, and loved that car. This morning I’m going to the collision center to get my stuff out of it and say goodbye.
Edit: Thanks everyone for the kind support.
Those of you wanting pics… I just couldn’t. My last pics of this car will not be of her wrecked.
I’m not a mechanic at all. I believe the car is fixable, but not by me. Looking at the damage, everything on the front passenger corner plus the hood would have to be replaced. Hard to say if there’s damage to the underlying frame or not, which is where the costs would really be jacked up. But even if it cost only half that worst-case scenario, I’d have to let it go.
Those of you who wanted to track it down for yourselves, it’s now with Shorty’s Used Auto Parts in Bridgeport PA.

Super random. Trying to track down my old 1995 DelSol. I had to sell it when we had kids. I sold it in 2012 in PA. I think the guy I sold it too ran it through carriage trade auto auction in 2015/16 1995 SI. SOHC. Turbo. Intercooler. Love to find that car again. Just a shot in the dark. Thanks guys.
