Windows Re-install went wrong
So, after 4 years of getting my Inspiron 15, I decided on a fresh install of windows 11 because of the unnecessary bloatware and the PC suddenly becoming slow. Its my first time and i followed all steps correctly (I think)
Created the boot drive and added the WLAN/BT drivers (Realtek) in the boot drive
The process was going fine until the laptop started ‘HTTPS boot’ in the bios, and it needed internet.
This laptop does not have a RJ45 and I dont have a RJ45 to USB converter.
Can I somehow install the WiFi driver or do i require a USB-RJ45 connector.
Please help.
Never buy DELL laptops
Not sure if other tech specialists experience this,
But the laptop keyboards are seriously made with very poor materials.
Other laptop brand makes are better in that aspect.
To summarize things up, we have about hundreds of laptops bought from DELL and almost 20% of them ends up with this condition.
At first I thought perhaps this could be due to wear and tear but one of the laptops returned in this condition is of only 2 months of usage.
Raising this up to DELL is another fuming issue as well, because the only thing that the customer service supports do is to inform you that this is a chargeable service and keyboard replacements are not covered by warranty (WHAT?!?!)
tldr ; save your money, don't buy dell notebooks because their CEO is a money loving grub that exploits their keyboard make and charges their customers to replace their shitty keyboard
*model makes are Latitude 5000 series
Dell g15 5530 Screen flickering Problem
So hello guys I bought dell g15 2 days ago but after playing 30 min minecraft without shaders. Screen starts flickering. And then never stops. While playing valorant for 30 min at lowest setting, after 30 min, I gave error message graphics card/driver crashed. How to fix. After 30 mins it's start to lag even in browser.
Dell XPS 9365 RAM throttled
I have a Dell XPS 9365 with 16GB soldered RAM
It shows the full amount in BIOS but locked to only using 6GB in Windows 11.
It passed memtest86.
OCCT shows only 6GB and no errors but does say memory crashed in benchmark
Task manager shows 16GB but is locked to 6GB utilisation.
The laptop runs very slowly but CPU doesn't throttle
What I've tried:
Clean install of windows
Reflash to latest BIOS
Tinkered with BIOS settings
Tried several different AI recommendations
Thinking of trying Windows 10 as laptop is from 2017
Set maximum RAM in msconfig
Any ideas please?
Premium vs. XPS
Are there absolutely any differences between buying a new 2025/26 "Dell XPS 16" from Dell, and buying a "Dell Premium 16" from a big box retailer such as Walmart? They both have 32gigs ram, 1tb storage, look exactly the same, feel exactly the same, same Intel i7 Ultra, only difference is that the Premium has a marginally nicer graphics card... but literally seem to be identical devices. Please help me figure out if this is literally nothing but branding/naming rights, or whether there is anything at all that is different? AI says that the premium is a step below the XPS in construction and machining of the aluminum body, but again, both look and feel identical in-hand... I am predisposed to not trust AI. Thank you all! 😄 (Above I have attached the two product images)
Significant level of battery wearing in just a few days, need help
I replaced my Dell Vostro 3490's battery over a year ago, it was working fine until a few days ago where i starts noticing significant level of wearing in just a few days. Should i immediately replace the battery?
Upgrading from XPS 15 (9520) to XPS 14 2026 -- X7 or X9?
Hey everyone, two things I need help with. Would really appreciate any input.
My current machine: Dell XPS 15 9520, i7-12700H, 64GB RAM, 1.5TB storage.
It's been a problem child since early days. Battery issues, sluggish performance even after upgrading the RAM and storage, lid-close sleep not working reliably, and late last year, the built-in screen died (backlight issue). Currently running it on 3 external monitors through a docking station.
The latest issue is the worst one yet. Every time I wake it from sleep or unlock it, everything freezes. Not running anything heavy, just opening Chrome is enough to crash the whole system. I have to do a full reboot every single time for it to work again. It's been happening consistently and it's killing my productivity.
Has anyone dealt with this wake-from-sleep freeze/crash before?
I've read it could be driver related, possibly the Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti and Intel Iris Xe dual GPU setup causing conflicts on resume. A few things I'm planning to try:
- Roll back or update the Nvidia driver via Device Manager
- Disable hardware acceleration in Chrome (Settings > System)
- Run
powercfg /energyin Command Prompt to check for power issues - Check for a Dell BIOS update through SupportAssist
If anyone has gone through this and found a fix, I'd love to know what actually worked. I've had the lid sleep issue for a while too and never fully resolved it.
Now, assuming this machine is just done -- I'm looking at the XPS 14 2026
Despite the pain with the 9520, I still think the XPS build quality is hard to beat, so I'm willing to try again with the new XPS 14.
How I use my laptop:
- Emails and general business work
- Heavy Chrome usage -- 6-7 browser windows, each with 5 to 20 tabs open
- Light Photoshop and Illustrator work
- Mostly cloud storage, minimal local files
- No gaming
- Video editing very rarely
- About 12 hours a day, almost always plugged in via docking station
The question:
I was originally set on the XPS 14 Series 3 with the Intel Core Ultra X7 358H, but prices went up and the X9 388H is now available. The X9 is about $1,500 more.
For my kind of workload, is the X9 actually worth the extra spend? Or is the X7 more than enough?
Happy to hear from anyone running either chip, or anyone with a similar multi-monitor, tab-heavy work setup. Thanks.
best dell laptop for business anyone recommend one that stays dependable after a few years?
Need to replace my current work laptop soon and I’m trying not to make the wrong choice again. Last one looked good on paper but started getting loud and hot after about a year and the battery dropped off fast. I use my laptop all day for email, spreadsheets, meetings, and some light multitasking.
For people deep in the Dell ecosystem already, what’s been your most dependable business laptop lately? thanks for any suggestions
experience with Dell's warranty that has not yet been resolved
31 days ago, on April 21st, I opened a support ticket with Dell because my laptop started freezing and showing blue screens due to DRIVER_POWER_FAILURE. I use this laptop to listen to music and check emails. I contacted Dell immediately. The technician came to my house to replace the touchpad, RAM, and motherboard, but this didn't solve the problem. I called and opened another ticket for a more detailed inspection at a service center. I opened the ticket and took the laptop in. They supposedly ordered the parts and "replaced the motherboard." I received my laptop on May 5th. The first day everything was fine until I turned off the Dell Inspiron 15 3520. That's when the problems started again: it wouldn't charge, it wouldn't turn on, it overheated, and the headphone jack emitted static so loud it was like listening to the radio. I opened another ticket on May 8th, and they replaced the motherboard again. I went to pick it up today, May 21st, and decided to bring my headphones to see if it was working. When I plugged in the headphones, I was happy because they worked, but when I played a song, it sounded like an old radio, completely distorted. The receptionist, who was incredibly heavy (over 100 kg), couldn't believe it. He plugged in some USB audio devices, and they sounded fine. Then he plugged in some others. 3.5mm and it sounded horrible, they told me to leave it so they could check it again, this is the last straw.
Audio shuttering
My dell g15 5520 audio shuttering both in speaker and headset i tried disable audio enhance and update driver its still the issue
Did they "manufacture obsolescence" on my Inspirion? Battery not compatible after 1 year exactly
So I won this computer in a raffle exactly one year ago to the day. I've used it religiously since (it was so lucky cuz i had just broken my Chromebook). And here we are, the computer that was charging fine this morning now gives me "incompatible battery alerts" when nothing has happened. I didn't let it overheat or even use it today until 8pm when this happened. Right now it's charging and stuck at 5% despite being plugged in for like 30 mins on a computer charger. Is there anything I can do? If I need to get a new computer, can I transfer my info? This sucks
Never ever buy dell gaming laptops!! I repeat never!!!
I have a Dell G15 laptop that I purchased 3 years ago. Right from the second week of my purchase, I started facing issues with the laptop. And when I called customer support about a replacement, they said it’s only valid for a week from the purchase date. So they kept changing parts. I constantly faced issues with it, I changed the motherboard once and the display three f***ing times. I extended the basic warranty for 2 years. Now I'm out of warranty And recently two weeks ago the motherboard of the laptop failed and they’re asking me to pay half the price of the laptop to get it repaired.
Such pathetic customer support they have!!!
Btw, I'm not even a gamer. I hardly ever played games on it. Like hardly!! I just played 3 light games on it in these 3 years. I only used it for general purpose And for coding that’s all.
Mac air m5 vs Dell xps?
Ey guys QQ, would rather change you 2020 del xps 13 9300 for a macbook air m5? I need to change mine but I'm not on the mood to invest 2 k on new hardware (Dell xps 14 ultra 7) just for a bigger battery. The mac is powerful and has a pretty decent battery. Any experience? BTW I work on lawfield and I need something powerful enough, classy and with a decent juice.
Bios corruption?
I purchased an optiplex 3070 small form and it refuses to turn on. I know little about computers, but I suspect bios corruption as indicated by the ,2 orange 5 white, pattern the light on the power button blinks.
Nothing shows on the two monitors aside from a “signal not found” message, they are connected via VGA cords.
I’ve tried doing the esc + ctrl while powering it on but it doesn’t work. Are there any other methods I can try? Thanks in advance.
Battery life on Dell XPS 14 (2026), OLED, Ultra X7 358H
I have been the using the 2026 Dell XPS 14 (OLED, Ultra X7 358H) for the last two weeks and am pretty disappointed with the battery life. According to several reviews, I should be getting more than 10 hours in real world use, but I am ranging between 6-8 hours. For reference, my use case is 75% screen brightness, 120hz with dynamic refresh rate on, light web browsing and video streaming, along with Spotify in the background. Is there something wrong with my unit or is this what I should expect?
Dell laptop audio suddenly broken right after warranty expired — tried everything including Windows reset
Hey everyone, I’m honestly exhausted trying to fix this and wanted to ask if anyone here has faced something similar with a Dell laptop.
My laptop is a dell G15 5530
For the last 2 days, my laptop audio has been behaving really strangely, and now my warranty has literally just expired yesterday as well.
What’s happening:
Speakers sometimes disappears
Headphones randomly stop getting detected
Sometimes both speakers and headphones show up normally, but there’s still no sound
Audio occasionally comes back after a restart, then breaks again if I unplug/replug headphones
Devices randomly vanish and reappear
And when audio does work, it sometimes sounds crackly/distorted or laggy and then the sound is gone again
I’ve already spent hours trying fixes online and at this point I feel like I’ve tried almost everything software-related:
Restart/full shutdowns
Completely resetting/reinstalling Windows
Reinstalling Realtek/audio drivers multiple times
Device Manager uninstall/reinstall
Windows audio troubleshooter
Restarting audio services
Hidden device checks
Power management settings
BIOS diagnostics
Rolling back Windows updates
Different headphones
Manual Dell driver installs
Nothing has fixed it consistently.
Now I’m starting to worry this could actually be hardware-related (audio IC/motherboard/headphone jack/etc.).
So I just wanted to ask:
Has anyone here experienced this before?
Did it turn out to be hardware?
Since the warranty expired literally yesterday, is there any chance Dell might still help?
If it’s out-of-warranty hardware repair, what kind of charges should I expect in India?
Any advice would genuinely help because this has been super frustrating.
Can I add a second SSD to my Inspiron 15 5510?
I didn't find reliable information about the existence of a second slot. HWInfo shows only one, but from what I understand, the second could still exist (it just doesn't show up cause it's not being used).
So I took a picture of it, but I'm still not sure about the slots.
Pic 1 is open notebook
Pic 2 is a zoom on the left side, where I believe is the current SSD
Pic 3 is a zoom on the right side, where I believe is an open slot
Is that correct? If so, is this second slot also for a M2 2230 Nvme SSD?
Battery
So my original battery is fucked, I ordered a replacement. Ordered the one that the Dell specifications for my product said to order, just opening up my laptop and lo and behold what I had was WDX0R qnd what I ordered was type YRDD6. Can I make this work or am I screwed (return warranty is over bc I was hella busy)
