Didn't you hear?

Two friends were eating dumplings at the local restaurant in Callens. This place had been popularised by Ex-Vice President Doggi and current President Stella. All the federal workers had been taken there one by one by Stella or Doggi. Many a meetings of TCP had taken place in this restaurant. Stella and Slavic discussed NEP, Union and Restaurant discussed Tutum and Viktor gave his sly ideas for the communist revolution.

The two friends were enjoying their dumpling soup as the one with short, fluffy brown hair pointed towards a chair that had been walled off by red ribbons with his chopsticks.

"What's that chair?" he asked, waving his chopsticks towards the chair.

"That chair is reserved for Comrade Chernov, it's where he signed his last opinion.. before he.. you know?" the blonde girl in warm clothes answered.

"He what?" the boy tilted his head, confused.

"Before he got shot delivering the news to President Stella" the girl replied, tilting her head forward to take a dumpling in her mouth.

"How did it happen?" he asked.

Still chewing her food she replied "well..."

During a cold January day, Viktor Chernov and Stella Woolf were sitting in a park that had been built by Comrade Fruit with his lawncare initiatives. Viktor Chernov had a full stack of papers in-between him and Stella. There were no HARPIES agents around, it was just the two of them at sunrise in a random park in Callens. Stella was taking small sips of her green tea while listening to Viktor Chernov explain his plans;

"You see, I actually have sole power for appeals. We can use this to keep NEP alive!"

"Mhm?"

"While I agree that maybe some parts of NEP fit better to be a Executive Order.."

He continued,

"I just want to keep NEP going. Me and Comrade Slavic worked really hard to reach here. I don't particularly want to leave this on the table. I wrote a opinion about the NEP lawsuit last night, I had to pour over a lot of material at 4am you know?"

"I know how hard you work, dearest Viktor.." Stella replied to him, taking another sip of her tea.

She continued,

"I'm just not sure how it'll be perceived by the populace. This is pretty.. well roundabout."

"Stella, what can I do about that?"

"I suppose.. nothing"

"I'll publish it tonight, let the Sovnarkom voice their opinions."

"Alright, I suppose.. You have my backing-"

As Stella spoke to Viktor, a gunshot rang through the park. Stella jumped up, as the bullet hit Viktor in the chest. It wasn't the glorious death any comrade imagined, but it's the death most of them eventually got. Viktor heard Stella screaming for agents and trying to stop his bleeding. Alas, she isn't a medic and Viktor fades into the night.

Happy 4th of July my American Brothers and Sisters

250 years ago, our ancestors fought for the independence of the nation we now reside in. After centuries of fighting, progress, and change; we really have come a long way from a backwater on the other side of the world. The empires at the time thought that we would have collapsed, that the dream of democracy would die in a ball of fire. Look where we are now. An economic and military superpower with its influence spread across every corner of the globe.

However, in our nation's 250 years of existence, we have experienced great strife. For nearly half of our nation's existence, some of our ancestors enslaved millions without cause other than sheer greed. Some of our ancestors stole Native American land and massacred millions. Huge monopolies controlled entire industries and stomped out any form of competition. Our government invaded foreign nations with no other reason than to expand our power. The fact of the matter is, our nation has done many bad things but, we have also done truly great things in our lifetime.

We sent man to the moon and further advanced humanity into the stars. We fought back against fascists in WW2. We expanded civil rights. Now, more than ever, every American has an equal shot to do great things. Now has never been a greater time to be an American. Sure, our country is facing hard times but we have been through worse and we have gotten better and we will continue to improve.

You may not like our countries government be that the one we have now or the previous one but don't miss the point of the 4th of July. We celebrate today to honor the IDEA of America, the IDEALS of America. We honor the principle that everyone was created equal with certain unalienable rights. Times are tough, there is no denying that. Life is getting more and more expensive and our government seems to be drifting further away from democracy but the biggest crime you could ever do is, to lose hope. Things shall and always will get better, you just have to look and work towards it. Change has never been easy but it has always been worth it.

Have a Happy 4th of July because today, we are all celebrating the idea of America, not the government of America.

Thank you for joining the "Rhubarb as a GM" adventure!

I'm out. 9 months of being here, with a few gaps in between; let it be known I lasted 1 month. I will close the betting pool.

The simple fact is this is too much workload for the employed. And I will not die a Reddit mod. I've been spending way too much time obsessing and helping grow this community and engaging with player requests, and have not been putting my time into my physical and mental health.

Was I perfect? No. No one is. Did I make the right choices? I think, no matter what, I continued Bluitwns RP mandate and set the DoR on a path of quality posting and revived the creativity of this community again. As well as trimmed some of the dead roots and planted seeds anew.

I do hope most of the purged come back ready to engage productively or at least collaboratively. I wish the list wasn't made public, but honestly it didn't happen, and if it did, they deserved it.

I hope someone picks up what I started with the new player guide.

The Current GM team has 1 senior manager, and 3(possibly 4) previous players that are well in tune with this game and its river of creativity. I pray they carry the torch and continue to keep this game fun.

Am I out forever? I don't know. I probably will still appear as beacons only citizen on the census.

I came to this place as a fighter.

I fought in the YLP.

I fought in the >/BEEP/.

I fought in the Law bar.

I fought in the constitutional convention.

I fought in Multum, 3 times.

I fought in the CFGAP.

I fought in the Sans-culottes.

I fought in the UNCtocracy.

I fought in TCP.

Someone asked me if I went back to RP, what side would you join, and my answer is and probably always will be "whatever side was losing."

I'm tired; I don't want to fight anymore. And I don't think the community at large wants to anymore.

My biggest advice is to stop kicking each other's sand castles and start building sand kingdoms.

EO - 09 - 012 | Save Point... Rest a while?

^(Title in order, [Order Name - Presidential Number - Specific Order Number].)

Circulate to all Citizens of the Democracy of Reddit,

Whereas, a bunch of shit went down,

Whereas, players need a breather,

Whereas, I am both the President and one of the top moderators,

Whereas, the sub needs regular breathers,

Be it resolved;

  1. All political activity is paused until Monday 7am IST (Istanbul Time),
  2. Wargames are paused indefinetily while the GMs figure it out,
  3. Anyone who bitches about "muh dewocwacy" and "muh auwthowity" will catch a left right ban.
  4. Do not bother the GMs, banned players or former GMs about anything that they have done in the past. This is harassment and a reason for a permanent ban.

Signed,

u/EepyStella , the 9th President of the Democracy of Reddit

Gauging interest on a Marxist-Leninist party in the DoR?

Basically, if you'd be interested in such a party forming or in joining it, say it on this post.

Even if there is interest it might not be made lol, I'm not that good at party politics.

Sheep (Part 3)

The hot scorching sun beat down on the freshly trimmed wool of the sheep. They had to stay perfectly still, perfectly silent. Watching the ape make his rounds around the farm, they bode their time, waiting.

"Blahdamn, it's so blahhhhhhhhh in here"

"Blaaamaaa shut the blaaaaahhh up"

"Both of you, blsshshhhhh!"

Blehhh had to admit, Blaaamaaa was right. It was around 110 degrees blahrenheit and 43 degrees cumulus, easily the hottest day of blahmer.

"Oh, bloook! The ape is mooooooving!"

"Blaaamaaa why are you bleating like a blahhhhcking cow."

"Sorry."

The ape got onto his tall brown sheep and rode off towards the city.

"Now's our chance! Blah blah blah!"

Blahgus the Blahless charged the thin wooden fence at full speed.

CRASH!

The fence easily broke under the might of the blahless Blahgus.

"Let's blah!"

Despite the heat, they ran at full speed, past the horses, cows, chickens, and even the rabbits. Their goal? The luscious depths of the forest, where the trees provided the perfect cover to fully escape.

They hopped over one last fence, barreling towards the forest at full speed. Freedom. Liberty. Equality.

The era of the sheep had begun.

Viktor Chernov's Last Signature. (This was signed before being banned, I'm simply informing the public)

HELD:

The following sections of the New Economic Plan are constitutional. Mechanisms of the Politburo, Foreign Exchange, Clause 4, Structure of the People's Army, and Legal Notes and Subsystems, Clause 4.

Explanation for the Constitutionality of Foreign Exchange

According to Article II, Section III of the constitution of the Democracy of Reddit, "3. Parliament shall legislate national matters limited to: 1. Regulation of trade, commerce, monetary policy, and fiscal policy, including taxation[...]"

The constitution also states in Article VII "7. Provinces may not have their own foreign policy, excluding trade deals and any special cases approved by the president and legislature."

However, a clear solution is given earlier on, in Article VII, which establishes the supremacy of Federal law. " 3. Provinces must follow the laws of the country, though they may write their own laws as well.".

As the power of the Politburo is derived from Parliament, it may exercise powers that belong to Parliament, which in this case, would refer to trade policy. Therefore, the power of the Politburo in relation to foreign exchange is legal.

Explanation for the Constitutionality of the Structure of the People's Army

The New Economic Policy states, "The replacement of the Grand Marshall shall be performed only by the Politburo[...]".

The constitution states in Article III, "2. The president shall lead the armed forces in times of war or emergency". The constitution also states in Article III, Section III, Clause III, that Parliament is in charge of "2. Foreign policy, including control of military and space affairs[...]".

As the powers of the Politburo are derived from Parliament, this is constitutional.

Explanation for the Constitutionality of Legal Notes and Subsystems, Clause 4

Following the precedent of Parliament, repeals of acts are treated as motions and not bills.

The constitution states in Article II, Section III, "1. Parliament may pass laws via a simple majority of those who have voted within a 48 hour period of the presentation of any list of bills.". As motions are not regulated by the constitution, they may have different requirements for removal. Therefore, Legal Notes and Subsystems, Clause 4 is constitutional.

Camp

With the summer in Oborograd hot as ever, I decide it's time to get me and my Oborograd scout group out of the city, and into some southern tutumite nature. There, we find Oolognöbid Firs campsite, just a few miles north of lapovo.

With the tents set up, food eaten and people returning to their tents to wind down, I take a seat amongst nature, and play a game of Draughts (Checkers for multumites and Alexandrians) against one of my scouts, aged 16

"So, what will you do now..."

"Now what?"

"Now... Yknow... You aren't guvnah anymore. What will you do with yourself?"

"Same stuff I always did. Devote my life to the scouts. Run my city. Help out my party."

"I suppose" She says, taking two of my pieces to get a king. "We playing flying kings?"

"Ah, sure"

It gets me thinking. With the sun setting behind me, it represents an end in my career. Sure, I may go to parliament, but bourgeois democracy is futile. I'm going to graduate from Oborograd university soon, and start working on engineering projects. I'll stay active as a football player, I suppose.

"You can't make that move" I note, calmly. "You have to take."

"Ugh." She sighs, knowing it puts her in a bad position. "Can we play chess afterwards?"

"Sure. Can't sleep too late though."

"True." She says, playing a piece that I'm sure means she's lost. "We'll have a fire tomorrow though?"

"Of course, you can even get your charcoal making badge, if you're brave enough."

"What's even the point of Charcoal?"

"Burns hotter. Virtually no smoke."

"Ah so we can burn it indoors?"

"Oh tengri, no. You'd die. Carbon monoxide poisoning. Invisible and odourless."

"Thanks for that."

"No worries." I say, playing a piece. "You've lost. Good game?"

"Good game."

And just like that, her friends call her over, and she postpones our game to tomorrow.

I am left under the setting sun, wondering where it all went.

The Reserves

The heat was oppressive. It made even the smallest of movements feel like a monumental effort. Everything was deliberate, and slowed. Standing on the hot black tarmac of the Hartfield Provincial Airport likely wasn't helping either. I pulled my compass out of my pocket, and looked at the small thermometer built into the side.

102 degrees, farenheit

Why couldn't the Insignants have waited until this heat wave passed to launch their offensive?

I brushed those thoughts out of my head. There was no use complaining. I had a job to do. I put the compass back into my pocket, and began walking down the tarmac. As I walked, I took a moment to survey my surroundings.

To my left was a row of hangars. They had been co-opted by the Eosaran Ministry of Defense to serve as a storage facility for equipment. Crates upon crates of mothballed rifles, uniforms, and spare parts had been dug out of storage and were being distributed to the newly formed reserve forces of Eosara.

To my right was a row of helicopters undergoing preflight checks. They were the new M-26 "Thalassa" class, and if the rumors I'd heard were true, they were a beast in the air.

There were almost 4,000 Eosaran militiamen at the Hartfield Provincial Airport. They were drawn from police departments, home guardsmen, veterans of the Fonend War, and foreign volunteers. By tomorrow, they'd be departing by rail to the frontlines, to sacrifice themselves for their homeland.

I thought back to the Fonend Conflict, almost a full year ago now. We, no I, had been caught off guard. We were outmatched by a superior foe, and were forced to cede our rightful territory to a foreign invader.

This time was different. We were going to win, or die trying. The Insignants may have believed that we would be an easy target, however they were mistaken.

We would make them fight for every inch of Eosara.

Is it just me, or should we replace political debates with "SimCity" high scores?

**Hear me out. Instead of these long, boring speeches about policy, why don't we just have the candidates play the latest city-building game for 48 hours? The one with the highest population and best happiness rating gets the office for four years. It would actually show who can manage a budget and keep people happy. It feels like a much more fair and "darkly" logical way to do things than what we have now.**
