Made the switch

Made the switch

Was running a Pioneer DDJ-SR2 for years and honestly loved using it with Serato, and I found myself using Rekordbox at gigs. So I wasn't exactly married to an ecosystem. I knew I wanted an all in one unit for gigs that didn't sacrifice Stems (Serato Stems are great, but Denon is very good).

Funny enough, one of the only complaints I had when first DJing on it was "man, this thing would be perfect if I could make the waveforms RGB." And of course a week later 5.0.0 released 😂. Nicely done Denon 👏👏👏

I was already using SoundSwitch for DMX, so it was an easy switch. Nanoleaf and Phillips Hue is a cool bonus, but sadly most of my house is Govee. So I'll be figuring that out soon...

Do not waste your money on the Denon Prime Go+.

(I AM TALKING ABOUT THE DENON PRIME GO+ THAT WAS RELEASED IN OCTOBER OF 2024, NOT THE ORIGINAL DENON PRIME GO, THAT WAS RELEASED IN JANUARY 2020)

I purchased my Denon Prime Go+ in May 2025. I was genuinely excited because it was my first standalone DJ device, and I was looking forward to moving away from using a laptop. For the first couple of months, I was really impressed. It was lighter and more portable than my Pioneer DDJ-1000SRT, and I no longer had to worry about pushing the limits of Serato DJ Pro on my MacBook Air with only 8GB of RAM.

The problems started in August 2025, when I noticed that the touchscreen would occasionally become completely unresponsive when powering on the device. At first, I assumed it was just a one-time issue caused by the battery being low, because once the unit was fully charged, the touchscreen would start working again.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

The issue kept happening repeatedly. Since I was not DJing as often at the time, I initially brushed it off as an occasional glitch. By March 2026, however, the touchscreen stopped responding entirely even with a full charge. After spending two weeks troubleshooting, I managed to get it working again and thought I had solved the problem.

Then it happened again.

This time, nothing fixed it. Since the unit was still under warranty, I contacted Denon and shipped it from the East Coast all the way to InMusic headquarters in Nevada for repair. Shipping was expensive, but I figured it would be worth it to finally resolve the issue.

I received the unit back a couple of weeks later, and it worked perfectly for exactly one day. That day was yesterday (Monday). Today is Tuesday, as I’m writing this.

After connecting it to a Wi-Fi network that required browser authentication, the device froze during shutdown. I had to perform a hard reboot, and now it gets stuck on the loading screen. The only apparent solution is connecting it to a computer for recovery.

This completely defeats the purpose of owning a portable standalone controller.

I specifically brought it with me today, while waiting for my car to be serviced so I could practice on the go. I’m writing this post as I wait. Instead, I ended up carrying around an expensive paperweight that now requires a laptop to troubleshoot.

What is the point of marketing a device as portable and standalone if a relatively minor software issue can render it unusable without a computer?

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend the Denon Prime Go+. The reliability issues, costly warranty shipping, and software instability have been incredibly disappointing.

This experience has seriously turned me off from purchasing future Denon products. My warranty is up within a matter of days and I spent $1000 on a crappy device.

i regret not sticking with Pioneer/Alpha-Theta.

I can’t believe RGB waveforms are finally here. TY Engine DJ 5!

Only took 5+ years of incessant feedback but we did it guys. (:

Glad I waited. Almost got the criminally overcharged omni duo because of this.

After the update, go to Settings > Profile > Display to turn on RGB.

Do you really just need two colorful icons to ignore the fact that nothing works? Engine 5.0 is a failure pff!

Guys, it’s time to wake up and stop letting yourself be fooled by appearances. I’ve spent hours digging through forums, technical threads, and social media, and what’s surfacing is a total disaster: people dealing with master audio freezes, proprietary hardware no longer being recognized, and the usual glitches that make working impossible.

The crowd's response? 'Just roll back to the previous version.' Do you even realize how absurd that sounds? Going backward is the ultimate proof of failure for a company that sold us a product that, at this rate, will be useless within months. We are looking at a company that prefers to spend money buying up software houses or redesigning aesthetics instead of making the core of the machines actually work. They took Christmas lights and put them out for the 4th of July, hoping we wouldn’t look under the hood.

The truth is that both PC mode and Standalone are becoming a minefield because they prioritized stupid icons and RGB graphics, overloading the systems instead of optimizing stability and drivers. If a professional has to be afraid of loading a track or connecting a computer in 2026, we’re not talking about professional tools anymore—we’re talking about expensive toys. I have no intention of waiting for the next software 'band-aid' that fixes nothing. If they don’t scale back and get back to real engineering, the future of this ecosystem is dead.

5.1 update ruined loading tracks

I just updated the firmware and found out that loading tracks now requires you to have the deck you want to load on active on the SC Live 4. Usually you swipe the track and just select a chanel. It confuses the hell out of me because it ruines my flow and I have a gig coming up. Does anyone know if this can be switched back to the old way?

EngineOS Update render your LC6000 useless

Updated EngineOS on my SC6000; after that my LC is not recognized anymore. Can’t do anything with it.
If you plan to update; please don’t do so if you want to use your LC.

Poor QA DenonDJ…that’s not cool

EngineDJ v5 on P4+ is amazing

I updated it this morning and gave it a quick spin. It's very nice. There are some UI improvements, which is nice, but the main improvement is how responsive the unit feels.

Seriously, it feels like a new model with a much more powerful processor. The UI is much more responsive and things are loading much faster.

Great improvement.

SC Live 4 defaulting on loading deck 2?

It was working perfectly last night, even post update, but restarting it this morning it seems to want to only load deck 2? Any fix? I'm totally lost.

Has anyone updated to Engine 5.0 on a Rane System One?

Would love to hear your anecdotal experience, wanna make sure people aren't having issues before I update, got a couple weddings this weekend and I'm on the fence. Thanks
