What are some things I can do to prepare to be a detective?

Hi, I'm almost 15 and I live in the United States. My future goal is to become a detective (or private investigator, although I know they are different) and I want to know what I can do now in preparation for my future.

I want my crimonology degree and I plan to apply to various colleges/universities with a good criminology program like UPenn in Pennsylvania, Université Paris Cité and University of Montpellier both in France, Cuny in New York and some others I have stashed away in my brain.

I listen to true (or so I hope) detective podcasts almost daily, and as they are telling the story I try to figure it out before they say the ending.

With this, I know I don't have many options I'm giving myself, but this is why I want to know what can I do now to help myself in the long run as an aspiring detective. Thank you

Is she in danger? Or is this a skit?

So I came across this channel's live accidentally and felt something off.... The comments during the actual live said that the guy cheated on the girl in the white

( his wife )with the girl in the red...and that he abuses his wife ...

Like as you can see in the 2nd and 3rd images on how often they go live per day..and on every live the they are forced/ have to eat...

So idk if she is actually in danger or this is a skit... because either way this is concerning 😟😟

Can anyone look into their channel pls? Any way we could help her if it's real?

Where is this house? Help me find my missing package!?

FedEx Proof of Delivery

Calling all internet sleuths! Here is a picture the FedEx deliveryman uploaded as "proof of delivery," but he delivered my package to the wrong address. I am calling on some noble internet detectives to help me identify the house so I can try to reclaim my pacakge.

The town is Mount Pleasant, UT. Here are my thoughts:

- This house was built pre-2000 based on its color and design, and the fact that it has a full rock face.
- The uneven sidewalk and aged, unpruned tree tells me this house has been around a while and probably belongs to an older person.
- Based upon the mountains in the valley, I believe this picture was taken facing north, which means this house is likely facing west, since who puts a full rock face on the back of the house (and the FedEx guy likely put the package in the front of the house).
- Given that we have such a clear view to the north, I believe this house is on the north side of town.

I suppose it's possible that the package was delivered to the wrong town; Mount Pleasant has lots of small satellite communities, but based upon the horizon, I believe it's likely Mount Pleasant.

I've tried driving around the neighborhoods, asking my neighbors, and playing around inside Google Maps, but I haven't found the mystery house. Please, anyone who is really good at this kind of thing, I would appreciate your help! Thanks!

(Now, before you ask, yes, I've reached out to the shipper and the FedEx, but they're both proven unhelpful. I either find this package myself or I lose the money.)

My friend sent me an altered Moonlight Sonata sheet and told me to decipher it (I know nothing about music)

A friend sent me what looks like an edited version of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata along with a weird piano keyboard cipher chart and told me there’s a hidden message inside it.

Problem is: I have basically zero background in music theory, sheet music, or piano.

From what I understand, the notes might correspond to letters using the attached keyboard chart, but I have no idea how to properly read the sheet music or identify which notes are important.

I’m guessing the hidden message could involve:

altered notes

specific melodies

repeated patterns

timing/rhythm

or some kind of musical cryptography

I already tried randomly matching notes to letters but got nowhere.

Could anyone help analyze it or point me in the right direction? Even explaining how to start comparing the edited version to the original would help a lot.

Child Sexual Abuse Situation

I am aware that a child is being sexually abused and I'm hesitant to report it because she will likely end up in a worse situation if put in foster care (don't lecture me about how I'm wrong; I know a ton of former foster kids and most have been sexually abused in the system. I don't wanna hear it.)

I'd like input from someone familiar with the criminal justice system about what would likely happen if I make an anonymous tip to police with the following information:

What I know:

  • I was shown CSAM against my will, found in the camera roll of a man I'll call John Smith (I have his real full name)
  • An ex-partner of mine — with whom I'm no longer in contact — shares an iCloud account with him and showed me the video
  • John has made sexually inappropriate remarks to me personally
  • John told me, as if it were a funny misunderstanding, that he had sexual harassment complaints filed against him at Georgetown University (where he taught)
  • Over the 5 years I knew him, there were many red flags I dismissed; the video makes clear they weren't dismissable
  • The abuse is occurring somewhere in Washington, DC

The child's situation:

  • Her legal guardians are her parents, who live abroad
  • She lives in DC with her adult sisters; one sister is married to John Smith
  • John, the child, and the child's four adult siblings all live together

Ideal outcome: John is prosecuted and imprisoned without the child being removed to foster care.

What would likely happen if I called the DC non-emergency police line? Would they even do anything with this information?

Do I try ask an unreliable witness for their version?

My brother died of a herion overdose. That much is fact. But the circumstances surrounding it were...odd. As far as we knew, he didn't use herion or if he did, very occasionally. He was booked to start rehab the next day for meth. He had been in and out of psychosis for the prvious 2 weeks because of meth - but was on the anti-psychotics when he died and was stableisssshhhhhhh. He was with a guy he described as a friend. I don't know the guy, the'd been druggy friends for a few months as my brother got hooked on the meth. My brother had a high paying IT job but things went downhill rapidly and the last 5 weeks he was unemployed and just on it...the final 2 he lived with my parents and seemed to not be doing any drugs. That night, before the rehab, he went to the friends. We assume a big last hurrarh. He died there...OK. That all makes senes...

Except then the friend told someone, who contacted us that it was 'assisted suicide'. My brother had previously grabbed a handful of something and tried to OD when in the psychosis and the police came to his house...it was a week before he'd died.

I talked with the friend only once and it was awful, he also proceeded to steal my brothers car after (had been left at hishouse, obviously) and took his keys and phone and whatever personal documents. He's completely unreliable and seems like a pretty messed up dude.

I still have his phone number. Someitmes I just want to text him 'did you kill him, did he want to die?'but I'm afraid he's unhinged, and he knows where my parents live...(not me, I'm far away) and the antics of the car and having kept the keys and papers always freaked me out.

What should I do? I sometimes have nightmares where my brother basically tells me it was suicide. My gut instinct tells me it was something closer to 'who cares', and it seems the guy had also had a big hit of herion that night too judging my police statements, just that my brother was also on heaps of depressant meds.

Would you message?

A few days ago, someone broke into my home and stole several personal and work-related belongings. Among the stolen items was jewelry that belonged to my mother, who has passed away, so this has been especially painful for me.

I’ve already reported everything to the police, but so far there has been very little progress, and I don’t want this case to end in impunity.

I’m posting here because I’m hoping the internet can help me gather more information or identify the people involved. I currently have:

  • Security camera footage
  • Last known locations of some stolen devices
  • details

If anyone has experience with investigations, device tracking, identifying suspects from footage, or knows other communities/resources that could help, I would deeply appreciate your support.

You can find all the available evidence and files here:

Thank you to anyone willing to help or share advice
