Who is 'Lucky'? Unknown person, suspected Northern American, living under the radar for +20 years in the Netherlands.

Hello,

I'm hoping to bring awareness to this case, in the hopes that somebody might recognize him. He had a stroke in the Netherlands, where he had been living for approximately the last 20 years. The stroke left him with aphasia, unfortunately, but the two words he occasionally uses are 'definitely' and 'nonsense'. The police is quite certain that he is not Dutch, but Northern American (he had a nickname 'Chris the Canadian'). He was found with no identification on him, and the police has exhausted all legal avenues to establish his identity. To make the situation more peculiar, they figured out where he lived, but still couldn't establish his identity, because he paid in cash.

The picture in the hospital bed is a current picture. The other one, is AI generated, a prediction on how he could have looked like 20 years ago.

# The police article + the link:

Who is “Lucky”? That is the question that has been occupying Amsterdam’s Cold Case Team for three years, after an “unknown” man was admitted to hospital. It soon becomes clear that every avenue to establish his identity leads to a dead end. The man has suffered a brain haemorrhage or stroke and is no longer able to communicate. Although this is not a police case—it is, after all, not a criminal matter—it continues to occupy colleagues Ruud and Nel. Surely, there must be someone who knows who “Lucky” is?

On 10 May 2023, a man collapses in the street. He is taken to OLVG hospital, where it becomes clear that he has suffered a brain haemorrhage or stroke. After receiving the necessary medical care, doctors determine that the man has been left with aphasia, a condition that in this case makes communication extremely difficult. He is unable to provide any information about his identity or address.

The Amsterdam-West detective unit therefore launches an investigation in an attempt to establish his identity. Not because they are required to do so, but simply because they want to help. The man has meanwhile been transferred to a care facility in Amsterdam Southeast. Although police officers pursue every possible avenue to find out more, they seem to keep reaching a dead end. Professionals closely involved with Lucky have by now begun referring to him as lacking the capacity to make decisions for himself.

But where do they go from here?

Fortunately, Team Cold Case becomes involved. The Amsterdam-West detectives are unable to make any further progress and need to focus on criminal cases. Ruud and Nel—now retired and working as volunteers with the Cold Case Team—are assigned the case. Rather than conducting a criminal investigation, they begin a social investigation. One possibility they consider is that there may be worried family members who know nothing about what has happened to him and, because they are not known to authorities, cannot be informed.

Buddhist Temple and Waterlooplein

Ruud and Nel soon try to map out who Lucky has been in contact with and what his social circles look like. They discover that he is a member of a Buddhist community based on Middenweg in Amsterdam. Members there tell them that the unidentified man is known by the nickname “Lucky.” Through other sources, Ruud and Nel discover that Lucky occasionally has a drink at Soep en Zo on Waterlooplein. To their surprise, however, he is known there as “Chris the Canadian.”

American? Canadian?

Once again, there is no clear answer as to the “real” identity of the nameless man. An additional challenge is that Lucky’s roots probably do not lie in the Netherlands. People around him believe that he may be from the United States or Canada. After all, he always spoke English, with an accent that sounded as though it came from one of those countries. Hence the nicknames used by people around him. To this day, Lucky still uses words such as “nonsense” and “definitely” to confirm or deny something. Unfortunately, he is unable to communicate much beyond that.

Everyone has the right to know who he is

Nel: “I simply cannot believe that nobody knows who this man really is. Isn’t it strange that you could perhaps live under the radar in the Netherlands for twenty years?”

Ruud: “Every person has the right to an identity, and that includes this man.”

Do you know who Lucky is? If so, please contact the police"

I woke up cuddling with a bat today.

So for the past week or so I have heard something skittering around. We do have mice(old farm) so I thought it was a mouse. Of well, they're cute. Mind you I've been getting random bites and I assumed they were mosquito bites but they reacted differently than mosquito bites usually do.

Today I was half asleep when I noticed my cat wouldn't settle, but was pacing around and very interested in the pillow I was spooning. I kept moving the pillow out of the way to give her room to snuggle up to me, but she wouldn't. Kept pacing around the pillow. Then I heard the squeak. I thought oh my god, is the mouse in the bed with us?! I sat up, and carefully removed the blanket. Didn't see anything. Carefully picked up the pillow I was cuddling. Nothing. I flip the pillow over and boom. There a bat clinging to the pillow. Was probably sandwiched between me and the pillow all night. I have bites on my chest. The bites I have been getting could be bat bites which makes it scarier because the longer you wait the more time the virus has to become symptomatic and once it does you're cooked. I captured the bat and went to the ER. The bat was so freaking cute and I'm a bit of a buddist so it's breaking my heart that it has to die. Everybody in the waiting room at the ER wanted to see the bat in a jar(tm). I then had to have a bunch of injections with big painful needles. But anyway I have to pray the virus hasn't become active in my system and the vaccine moved faster than the virus does. Otherwise I have to make a list of people to involve in the biting spree I will go on. Send me the names of your grrrrr ape ists, abusers, other jerks etc and I'll go bite them for you. Lol jk. Sort of. Wish me luck girlie pops. Ps lemme know if you wanna see bat baby, he's actually so cute.

UPDATES:

I did go to the ER and I started the series of vaccines. You can see my hopital jewelry.

Before I hopital the first thing I did was call my vet. Cat got vax in Feb, vet said she's all clear.

Animal control took poor cutie baby tiddy bat this morning. Said I should have test results by tomorrow.

The bat had to die because unfortunately the right thing to do isn't always peace and love. There are a lot of bats and wildlife in this area, as well as pets and children. It would have been extremely irresponsible to let the bat go as it would possibly put all other listed parties at risk. If I let it go and it was the start of or first indicator of a local rabies outbreak, it would be on my shoulders if someone's child got bit and dies of rabies. Sometimes you have to think outside of your wants and feelings and put them aside for the greater good.

Petty Investigation

Detectives of reddit. I have a theory and have come to see if it holds up, or any advice going forward.

I park my car on the street I live, there's plenty of parks available, no lack of room. I always park in the same spot.

3 days ago, I go to my car and someone has spray painted over my numberplate. Weird, but I thought it might have been teenagers or something. I wasn't even sure if it happened while parked on my street. I continued to park in the same spot.

Today I wake up and there is a single spray paint dot on my front porch, same paint. I haven't pissed anyone off so it's something to do with the car lol.

Originally I was like, well, when I move the car, whoever parks there is the vandal.

In true detective manner, I sat on my balcony for half an hour and watched the street. There was a car parked in my normal spot. The house across the street from that car parked tried to reverse out of their driveway, and I noticed the car being there made it quite hard for them to navigate.

So now my eyes are on them. There's no lack of parks and since they'll never park in that spot, they'd never be worried for me to find out who they are.

A simple note on my car would've been suffice but here we are lmao.

Thoughts? Anything else I should look into, and how do I move forward? Thanks all.

TLDR: I think my neighbour vandalised my property because I parked on the street

I’m gonna need some help…

Hi my name is Matt and my dad is Ken. It’s for him not for me. I’m usually good and fining shot but I can’t.

My dad is in he mid 80’s. He’s semi not kicking it and I just had to ‘literarily’ bust him out of the hospital. Anyway, he has been talking to his first high school girlfriend … her name is Barbra gene stout .. or a version of that. My mom passed from Alzheimer’s and her husband similarly … he lost her number ( it was on an index card and the hospital tossed it.

I’m very good at this shit but anything I call is an old number.
Just looking for leads.
Thanks
His name is Ken.

Need help finding someone

So I got scammed by someone who was supposedly selling cameras, and I need help finding them to serve them about a court hearing. I did originally serve them at an address that I found but now family members are saying that he has relocated. I have his license plate number of the make and model of his car as well as a picture of his ID with said listed address. The only thing I cannot find is an actual phone number of his and I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find more information on him to properly serve him about an upcoming court hearing date.

John Doe 8, ECAP

I have been alleging that this is my dad, for years, and he has been manipulating me into silence for years. I want to know if anyone can assist in understanding how I can prove this is my father without access to family photo albums, as my parents have cut off contact with me and I have limited photos of the man.

I also am quite sure the old hand with the ring was a different family member. Would the post be misleading purposely like that?

I am even more sure that the man in all over photos is my dad, and that the photos of the room were his home office over the garage in our Vienna, VA home.

The mysterious man behind the mirror

Hello everyone! I need your help solving a little mystery.
26 years ago, someone gave my parents a mirror as a wedding gift. Yesterday, the mirror fell and broke, and hidden behind it, we found this photograph.
We have no idea who this man is. The only clues I have are the ones visible in this photograph.
I would love to find out who this man was, what his role was in the French military, and, most importantly, on what occasion this photograph was taken in Paris in 1917.
I’ve done some research myself, but I’m clearly not much of a detective, so I’m counting on you to help me solve this mystery! 😊

Here’s a fun thing to do if you’re bored and what to do some good.

Here’s a fun activity if you’re bored at work;

Go to your state’s sex offender registry and see if the offender has a Facebook or Instagram profile. Report them and provide the link to their registry.

My personal best is 23 profiles in a day. 😀

Help me find someone!

Hiyaaaa! So, I'm not gonna describe this person neither show a pic or something, but I'll tell you what I have so you can recommend me ways to find her :]

Sooo, I only have a full-body picture of her, but she has a mask so it doesn't show her face neither her hair, and I only know that she's a girl, the country where she lives and the cinema and the movie she went to watch yesterday.

Ik is not so much, but anyways I hope that there are ways to find at least her social medias.

Sooo yeah, can you tell me ways to find someone when you have so poor info?

(srry if I made mistakes, english is not my native language)
