Roaring on a Budget - Review of my Pantlaza list

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to buy my next Commander deck and I chose my girl Pantlaza, Sun-Favored ! Before I buy anything, I’d love to get some feedback from the Jurassic community here !

I based my decklist on two famous brewers decklist i know, Panzer's , and Lontra's . Here are my guiding lines when i brewed this list :

  • The Blink Package: I fell in love with the idea of abusing Pantlaza’s Discover ability on other players' turns. I’ve included cards like Ephemerate, Cloudshift, and Lae'zel's Acrobatics to get extra triggers and maximum value.
  • Heavy Protection: My pod is Bracket 3 and have a lot of removal/boardwipes/control strategy, so I packed a very robust protection suite to make sure my big threats actually stick around long enough to swing.
  • Dino Army: A lot of Roar friends who can be reliable.
  • Some Twists: I love having some fun and unusual cards on my decks
  • Budget Constraint: The total budget for the deck is hard-capped around €150. It's a limit we fixed in our pod to avoid us becoming POOR.

I’m looking for general feedback on the list, but more importantly: Did I miss any hidden gems or fun, "twisted" cards that synergize well with Pantlaza ? As i said, I love unique tech cards that people don't see coming, and i feel like my list is too classic.

Other question, since my budget is limited, i can buy like ONE big pricy creature between [[vaultborn Tyrant]] , [[Ghalta, stampede tyrant]] and [[Etali, Primal Conqueror // Etali, Primal Sickness]] ,i chose Etali, but is this the best choice ?

Thanks in advance for the help, can't wait to hear your suggestions!

What are your dino tribal decks that aren't helmed by pantlaza, gishath, atla or zacama

I have a dinosaur tribal/ fight deck that has [[indoraptor, the perfect hybrid]]. I've yet to play against any other dinosaur decks that aren't helmed by zatalpa, zacama, atla or gishath. Anybody got some more obscure dino commanders?

Could this Universes Beyond card could get a reprinted anytime soon.

Because $70 is way to crazy to spend on one card.

How do you deal with dinos being too strong? Pod is starting to not enjoy the Pantz deck.

Hi dinos enjoyers. I've been thinkering a ton with the dinos precon. Changed something like 50 cards. Now it plays amazing. I'll list the deck in the post. (we proxy, so it didn't cost much at all)

Basically now I have a problem. It always wins. Like 5-6 games in a row when playing Pantz the table can't really contest. It's still linked as bracket 2, but man it does feel stronger than every other deck I play against.

Have you ever dropped down the power of a deck in order to make things more fun for everyone? I'm thinking about maybe removing all the Ghaltas and Etalis.

Any added Improvisation Capstone to a deck?

[[Improvisation Capstone]] was looking at the paradigm cards from SOS and this seems like it could have some potential. Once set up it’s a free draw and cast every turn - it’s an expensive setup at 7 mana but you could be cast big dinos for free.

Please help me optimize my Gishath deck

Hello. I kindly need your help to optimize my papa Gishath commander deck. Feel free to add, replace or remove cards as needed. For now, I'm trying to keep it "budget" as possible. although I do plan to upgrade it in the future.

Here's my deck list: https://archidekt.com/decks/21399473/dinorawr

Note: I'm still kinda new to MTG. Any tips would be greatly appreciated

Figuring out my Pantlaza deck

Hello all!

I recently got back into magic after a 6 year haitus. Using some older cards I had and buying some mystery bulk cards I built this. I'm thinking to cheat out as much big dinosaurs as possible, and either just brute forcing to the win or infinite with polyraptor and marauding raptors plus wrathful raptors/impact tremors.

Are there any other must-haves for a Pants (or dino) deck in general? Or anything else you guys would add or change to it? Thanks very much in advance 😄

Turn 2 Fanatic of Rhonas. Turn 3 Pantlaza. Turn 4 Gishath Sun's Avatar. Game got out of hand quick.

Observed Pant favoritism

I've been on this sub for a bit now and historically it seemed Pantlaza and Gishath were the main two Dino commanders. However, over the past few months it seems Gishath related posts have declined while Pantlaza mentions have increased.

Have the last two sets given Pantlaza a huge edge or something?

Making the switch

Hey all, I'm considering switching my Pantlaza deck to Atla Palani, can people give me any heads up on pros and cons? Atla looks like a ton of fun, but I wonder if there are any pitfalls I'm not seeing that would make this an unwise choice, any insight is appreciated, thanks in advance!

Is the precon worth if I already have Gishath?

I recently pulled the extended art Gishath and I’ve been on the fence about picking up the precon and smacking him at the helm. The only thing is that the list is kinda rough and they’re a bit pricey now at the LGS near me. Is it a fun time or nah?

Modified Pantlaza pre-con underperforming?

I'm relatively new to Commander and MTG in general. My friends decided to go in on the Pantlaza pre-con for me because I'm a dino lover and that's how they hooked me. Anyway, I wanted to put more cool dinos in the deck and optimize it. My modifications make sense to me in theory, but in practice the deck often underperforms. Particularly, I find that I only discover a handful of times per game. Occasionally, when the stars align I get massive discovers, but I want them more reliably. Besides, I just want to make this a strong deck in general, I want DINO SMASH.

I'd really appreciate any advice or modifications. Importantly, I want to stick to as low a budget as reasonable for my goal; I'm in college.

First time ever playing EDH I won with my pantlaza deck

I had never played magic in an actual pod. I showed up to commander night not knowing anyone there and was paired with 3 others.

Turn one was a bountiful promenade.

Turn two was a stomping ground, bloom tender.

Turn three cultivate, another land, grabbed mountain and a plains.

Turn 4 pantlaza comes out, with another land. he discovers roaming throne. One person says oh shit, must have seen that lizard and chair together before.

Now at this point, I have an etali from my opening hand, ephemerate, and starfall invocation. Other dino player sneaks a zacama out, still not sure how he made that happen.

Turn 5 Etali drops, he steals all kinds of shit. twice. Oddly enough the dino bro gave me a banner of kinship. All the big stompy things are lose in the park with +6/+6. Ian Malcolm is laid up in the jeep. Zacama instantly removed by a removal spell i had never seen before that etali picked up in his travels.

Next players turn, I cast ephemerate in response to his land drop. Etali screech. One guy gets pissed scoops and runs away, never saw him play again that night. when ya gotta go, ya gotta go.

Etali has a blightsteel colossus....

We have a T-Rex

thank you Tyler for helping me, a new player, maintain the board state all while losing.

Favorite dinosaur art?

[[Agonasaur rex]] is very thematic, buffing vehicles as they pass because the riders would be scared of the massive dino. it uses scale so well and the design is unique.

[[Rampaging spiketail]] has a cool pattern and shows what a dinosaur in the black color should be like. We need more black dinos

Getting into MTG and wanting to start with dinos

So I’m wanting to get into MTG and dinosaurs seem the coolest and more how I like to play. Where should I start for getting a taste.

So any recommendations for starter decks and the like would be greatly appreciated!
