[Online] [Play By Post] [5e] Welcome To The Forest of Fables!

I'm looking for players for Forest of Fables, a new asynchronous Play-by-Post D&D campaign inspired by classic fairy tales, folklore, and stories that have gone a little... wrong.

Expect:

  • Roleplay & character-driven storytelling
  • Whimsical fairytale adventures with darker folklore mixed in
  • A cozy enchanted inn that serves as our home base
  • Familiar stories with unexpected twists
  • Recurring NPCs, character relationships & personal story arcs
  • Rule of Cool and a new-player-friendly table

We'll be playing asynchronously through Discord, so there's no scheduled weekly session. Characters start at Level 3 using 2014 D&D 5e rules, and homebrew is welcome with approval!

If cozy fantasy, weird fairy tales, character drama, suspicious witches, talking animals, and discovering that the villain might actually have a point sounds like your kind of D&D, come join us!

Experienced DM Looking to Be a Player | Online | 5e 2014/2024 | Tues–Sat

Hi! I'm looking for an online D&D group where I can finally sit on the player side of the screen again.

A little about me up front: I'm 40, she/her, and I have a good bit of DM experience. I've run 8+ campaigns, primarily long-running duo campaigns for my husband and myself. I have considerably less experience as a player, though, and I'm really itching to change that.

What I'm looking for:

  • D&D 5e, either 2014 or 2024 rules.
  • FREE
  • I prefer something based primarily on official settings/material, but I'm completely fine with homebrew mixed in. I'm less interested in a campaign/world that's entirely homebrew from the ground up.
  • Online play using whatever VTT/TTRPG tools and Discord the group prefers. I'm comfortable learning a new platform.
  • Live sessions. I'm happy to do some PBP/RP between sessions, but I'm not looking for a campaign that's primarily or entirely play-by-post.
  • My available START times are Tuesday–Saturday, 8 AM–8 PM Eastern. Sessions can obviously run past 8 PM; that's just the latest time I can reliably start.
  • Weekly/multiple times a week preferred. (long-term games)

As a player:

I have a number of character ideas waiting for their chance to escape my brain, but I'm equally happy to create something specifically for the setting, party, or campaign. Give me some lore and I'll happily start figuring out who belongs in it.

I'm very much an ensemble player. I don't need or particularly enjoy being the center of attention. I like getting invested in the other PCs, participating in their stories, building relationships within the party, and having my character be one part of a larger narrative.

I also do not enjoy playing the party face, so I'd generally avoid filling that particular role.

I'm comfortable with 18+/mature games and dark subject matter. There isn't much I'd consider automatically off-limits as long as it serves the narrative and everyone at the table is on the same page about the tone and boundaries.

The major exception is ERP/explicit sexual roleplay, which I'm not interested in and would prefer not to be part of the game.

If you think I could be a good fit for your group please don’t hesitate to DM me!

[Dnd 5e][Sunday][EST 3-6pm][Dnd beyond and discord for chat] Looking for 2-3 players

Running a dnd campaign with dnd beyond vtt for the map and discord as the voice chat. Still deciding on which of the homebrew setting we are going for while trying to get players together. But most seem to be leaning towards option 1. So if any of these concepts below interest you and you are avaible from 3-6pm eastern seaboard time and want a chill game to play. Feel free to message me here. Got a few questions for applicants and we are new player friendly. You dont need anything save for making a dnd beyond account and having a discord account. Ill be sharing content via a dnd beyond campaign so you have dont need to buy anything.

IDEAS FOR CAMPAIGN:

  1. You and your party have been called from across the realm like so many other adventurers to handle a growing threat. In the center of the red coast a small city has gone dark some weeks back. And its not surrounded by a field of reality warping magic. And that barrier is spreading. It corrupting and changing the lands and causing all sorts of chaos! Your goal is to find out whats going on in this spellchange cursed land before it reaches the capital city!

  2. You and the party have been hired by the capital city alongside other mercenaries to help in the fight against a rival kingdom. You are promised high pay but equally high danger. Forces clash often and its up to you to help bring an end to the war. By any means necessary.

  3. You and your group are settlers to the land. Hence the level zero start. Some of you come from backgrounds and checkered pasts. But all have come to settle and carve out a new life. The only question is. Will you strike up a farm? Clash with local bandits? Work with town and traders across the Redrock coast delivering goods? Its a pick your own adventurer adventure. With plot hooks available for bigger things and crafting/building crafts for making your own homes/town.

[Online][LFG][CEST] Complete beginner looking for my first-ever D&D group!

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for a D&D group that would be happy to welcome a total beginner. And when I say beginner, I mean zero experience. I’ve never played D&D before, so whatever campaign I join will literally be my first ever.
I’ve wanted to try D&D for a while, but I’d really love to find a group that is patient and doesn’t mind helping someone learn the ropes as we go. I’m absolutely willing to learn, I just don’t want to pretend I know what I’m doing when I definitely don’t yet!

A little practical info:

  • I’m in the CEST (UTC+2) time zone.
  • I’m usually available around 9 PM–midnight CEST.
  • I’m a girl, so I’m particularly looking for a group that is respectful and welcoming, where I can feel comfortable asking beginner questions and making the inevitable beginner mistakes.
  • I’m completely open when it comes to the campaign itself — since this will be my first experience, I’d actually love to discover what I enjoy through playing.

I’m mainly looking for a friendly group of people who enjoy the game, don’t take themselves too seriously, and are okay with teaching a newcomer along the way.

If your group has room for someone completely new, or you’re a DM starting a beginner-friendly campaign, feel free to message me! :)

[LFP] looking for a player to join our campaign and be our number five. Or number one if you’re really cool.

Hi!
We’re currently running a long-term D&D 5e campaign set on the Sword Coast, about a century after the Bhaalspawn crisis. The campaign is planned to run from levels 4–15, and we’re currently at level 7. We play every Wednesday at 7:00-7:30 PM PST for approximately 3-4 hours.

Our group currently consists of four players, all in our 30s to late 30s, and most of us have been playing together with the same DM for over three years. The campaign has a healthy mix of roleplay, combat, exploration, dumb jokes, and puzzles. Our DM does a fantastic job of creating engaging sessions with meaningful story progression while leaving things feeling open and full of choice.

Above all, we’re looking for someone who values reliability and consistency with scheduling. We completely understand that holidays, vacations, and real-life obligations come up, but we’re hoping to find someone who can make the game a regular commitment and become a long-term member of the group.

If that sounds like the kind of campaign you’re looking for, we’d be happy to chat further and see if we’d be a good fit for one another.

Thanks for your interest.

Open to DMs
Maybe share a bit about yourself and what you’re Looking for in a group and campaign if you do.

Bionicle character idea

Hello, had the adhd thought when looking through childhood toys of playing a warforged dnd character based on bionicles. Thinking it could fit any needed class for a campaign or being a multiclass. And the characters goal will be to find a mask of power its tribe/faction used to worship that was lost over time/war. Side goal would be to master an elemental power its tribe/faction has, so any spells it learns would be focused to that element or the element would be used to flavor spells such as the Jump spell, where the character's feet are empowered with the element of fire so when they jump there is an effect of flames dancing as they leave the ground.

[Online][5e][Zoom][Roll20][18+] Experienced player NEW DM Looking for 4–5 Players — New & Experienced Welcome

Looking for 4–5 players for a new D&D 5e campaign played online via Zoom, with Roll20/D&D Beyond and whatever other tools make the game easier and more fun.

I’m 49 and have been playing D&D for about 40 years. But this will be my first attempt at DMing. I’m looking to put together a fun, relaxed group where people actually enjoy hanging out as well as playing.

🐉 The Game
D&D 5e
Online via Zoom
Roll20 / D&D Beyond for maps, characters, dice, etc.

New players absolutely welcome
Experienced players welcome
Pregenerated characters available if you’d rather jump right in
Or we’ll create characters together

Campaign style: collaborative, story-driven D&D with plenty of room for player shenanigans
I’m aiming for 4–5 players

TUESDAY NiGHTS 5p PST
Sessions approximately [2.5–3 hours]
Free to play

👥 Who I’m Looking For
Honestly, pretty much anyone who is respectful, reliable, and wants to have fun.

Men, women, couples, longtime players, complete beginners—all welcome.
I’m 49 myself, so I’d particularly enjoy having some 30+ players who remember when D&D books were actually books and not apps. 😂

That said, I’m not looking to create an exclusive old-person club. If you’re an adult who’s younger than 30 and think we’d be a good fit, you’re welcome too.
Old-ass players especially encouraged. If you’ve been rolling dice since the 80s/90s, you are among your people here.

🎲 What I’m Hoping For
I’d like this to be a group where:
We don’t take ourselves too seriously.
Everyone gets a chance to shine.
New players can ask questions without feeling stupid.
Experienced players don’t dominate the table.
We can roleplay without being embarrassed about it… or not!
We can laugh when things go horribly wrong.
People actually show up when they say they’re going to.
We’re interested in making a campaign together rather than just grinding encounters.
I’m also completely fine with people who aren’t professional voice actors, don’t have elaborate cosplay, and occasionally forget which die is which. 😄

🖥️** Online Setu**p
I’ll handle the DM side and use the various online tools available to make things as painless as possible.

Zoom will be our main meeting space, with Roll20/D&D Beyond handling the game-side stuff.
If you’ve never played online before, that’s totally fine. I’ll help you get set up.

📩 Interested?
Send me a message with:
Your age (approximately is fine)
Your D&D experience
Whether you’ve played online before
What kind of character you’d enjoy playing
What races/classes you’ve played before
What days/times generally work for you
Anything you’re particularly looking for—or hoping to avoid—in a campaign

I’ll chat with interested players before putting the group together and update the group here. Three to play and we’ll add as we go/need.

Thanks and hope I hear from you

[5e][Online][Paid][Wed 11PM GMT+1][$15/Seat][One-Shot 3hr] "This is why we don't rob magic shops in broad daylight" - a heist that goes loud, a stolen lantern, and half the Watch on your tail. 2 needed to start.

Hey all, running a heist one-shot and need 2 players to fill the table (3 tables actually going up, more on that below).

The pitch: you've been hired to walk into Vellithra's Curios, a warded magic shop sitting in the busiest district of Baldur's Gate, and walk out with a lantern that isn't yours. In broad daylight. No cover of night, no empty streets, just you, a crowd of witnesses, and a ward you'll have to talk, swap, or pick your way past.

However you get in is on you. Sweet talk the owner. Palm a decoy while you're mid-conversation. Take the ward apart with your own hands if you think you can. But the second an alarm goes off, the job becomes a chase: rooftops, market alleys packed with stalls you can use for cover or knock into your pursuers, a construction site with scaffolding you could bring down behind you. Every environment is a tool if you can think fast enough to use it.

This is roleplay-heavy and action-packed in equal measure. I'm not steering you toward "the" solution, if you can describe it and it's plausible, we'll find out together whether it works. Combat, when it happens, is quick and mean, not a slog.

Character creation: none needed. Four pregen level 5 characters, play them however you like. Sheets and a quick rundown sent before session, we'll cover anything else in the first ten minutes.

Logistics: 3 hours, D&D Beyond + Discord, mic required. Comfort/tone check at the start, open door policy throughout, Lines & Veils and X/N/O cards on the table. One content warning: snakes.

Three tables currently open, pick whichever fits your week:

  • Wed Aug 5, 11PM GMT+1
  • Fri Aug 7, 6PM GMT+1
  • Sat Aug 8, 4PM GMT+1

$15/session, only charged once a session actually starts. Each table needs 2 players to lock in.

If a fast, cinematic heist-gone-loud sounds like your kind of Wednesday (or Friday, or Saturday) night, join here:

[Online][5e][EST] New DM looking for 3 players for homebrew campaign on weekends

I already got a group together, but it didn’t exactly work out as we had to do a session 0 to test things since I’m so new and learning the ropes, and most people left.
If you’re not looking for something too fast paced at the moment and don’t mind a lot of slow and awkward progression, this might be the campaign for you!
If anyone who’s played before wants to join, I’m happy to learn from you, too.

The first part of the campaign is an underdark crawl on the sword coast of forgotten realms, but it transitions at a certain point by portal.

As stated in the title, I’m on eastern time (I live in Toronto), but I’m honestly fine with any time zone as long as you’re able to work with my schedule. 12 (9 am on PST like for my remaining player) is ideal.

Let me know if you’re interested!

{Online}{Other}

Hello! I've been a long-time DM for a homebrew campaign, and I'm wanting to find an online group to join as a player.

I tend to have very creative and thematic character designs, which don't always fit into a traditional D&D format. So I'm looking for campaigns with more homebrew content and a DM who is willing to work with me regarding character creation and abilities.

I have a bunch of characters I am eager to use, so I can fit basically any role in a party (most recently I've been wanting to use a Temporal Sorceress as a Cleric/Healer, but ofc I have lots of options).

I'm willing to learn a new system, but may require patience while I get adjusted. I have not been a player in many years.

I prefer fantasy campaigns, but wouldn't be opposed to trying a scifi campaign.

Best schedule for me is Friday nights EST.

[Roll20][Discord][Free][5.5e][6pm][CST][21+][LGBTQIA+] Welcome to the Continent of Ta'Railia

On the 20th year anniversary of the inversion of the tower and banishing of the wizard who was housed in it, the city of Galrich has marked itself as a major city as hub of trade again. Entering a newly found prosperity there are talks of extending aid to neighboring cities and kingdoms effected by the release of monsters from the tower after it was destroyed.

If you've found any of this interesting I would love to hear what kind of character you would want to play in a game like this, it'll have a heavy focus on Monster Hunting and Dungeon delving with an equivalent focus on making relationships with other settlements and NPCs throughout the continent you'll be inhabitanting.

We would be starting at Level 2 with a feat and a point of Inspiration. Currently we have A Poskin Bard and a Goliath Rogue. So there's still plenty on the table.

We would be playing using the DND 2024 Ruleset, with allowance for homebrew And 2014 content as long as you mention it and we figure out how it feels. There is no bar on races or classes you can pick. Hope to hear from some of you soon.

THE END OF HEROES - try out new character classes in the D&D 5e 2014 homebrew campaign! This FANTASY HORROR adventure is a character focused romp with plenty of room to customize your characters exactly as you want! (PAID - $20) - TUESDAYS

The city of Iriesall is besieged by war, rebellion and now one of its most revered heroes has seemingly fallen to darkness. Who will fill the void?

Quinton Veilar, retired member of Emberwatch, Slayer of Ancient Dragons, spends his old age telling stories in a tavern. After he and his companions have saved the City of Iriesall, it seems that the people are determined to destroy it themselves. Between the war with the underdark, a terrorist insurgency in the undercity, and the oppressive reign of Queen Beirona and the Orders of Sybril, there is little peace to be had. But there was peace in drink, and sharing stories with friends at the tavern.

Through his adventures, Quinton has made enemies, acquired dangerous magical artifacts, and kept many secrets... all of which are about to unravel.

Join the adventure, as a former pupil of this retired hero as he trusts you to protect all he holds dear. Travel to stunning locals, meet legends of old, and maybe.. just maybe.. save the world along the way.

You will create a level 3 character, 1 common magical item, 1 uncommon magical item who was a former apprentie of Quinton Veilar or a similar relation.

Players will have all of the 2014 wizard's of the coast official content to choose from. I am familiar with quite a bit of 3rd party material and using those options can be discussed during our session zero or on our discord server.

There are a number of my personal homebrew classes that will be available as well, such as

Occultist, Wrestler, Gunslinger, Mage, Witch, Daredevil, Alchemist, Dancer, Wyrd Blade

Game Type: Long Term Campaign

System: DND 5TH edition 2014

Virtual Table Top: Roll20 + Discord for voice(Video optional)

Day and Time: Tuesdays at 4:00pm MST (Time doesn't work out? Reach out to me!)

Session duration: 3-4 hours

Players: 0/7 slots (game will begin when we are up to 4 players)

Player experience: No experience required.

Game Style: horror, rule of cool, roleplay heavy, combat heavy

Price: $20/session via Startplaying

[Online][5e 2024][CST][D&D Beyond + Discord][Free] Homebrew DM Gaining Experience

I'm a female college student who's been playing and DMing for the past 10 years, and I'm looking for 4-6 people to play a few one-shots and/or a mini campaign. I host almost exclusively homebrew and am open to suggestions, although my current mini-campaign is a more traditional high fantasy setting. My play style tends to be very character and story-driven, where choices matter and creative solutions are encouraged. My games are roleplay heavy, but combat's a big part of it too.

I prefer to keep things PG to PG-13, so any interested party should be looking for that as well. I use D&D Beyond and Discord and use VTTs only when absolutely necessary. I prefer theater of the mind generally, but more intense battles deserve maps. Beginners are more than welcome.

My DIscord user is finleyriv, so please reach out if interested!

[Online] [CST] Party of 4 Ready to Make You Our Favorite DM Ever [5e 2014]

Well, well well, yes I have returned!

Quick rundown: we're a locked party of 4 (3 guys, 1 girl), not looking to add anyone else. I'm the veteran of the group with about 8 years of D&D under my belt, while my friends are newer to the hobby with a handful of sessions each — so do what you will with that info. Schedules are the eternal enemy but we've finally locked in Mondays at 8PM CST and we're solid on keeping it that way.

Frequency-wise we need weekly, and I mean it — our brains are too small for bi-weekly and a 3-4 week gap between sessions would genuinely drive us to madness. I'm also just impatient lol.

Platform-wise Roll20 is preferred, but if you're running Foundry VTT you immediately jump to the top of the list, just putting that out there.

On the RP side I am that guy — I write extensive backstories for my characters. We're talking 65 pages for one campaign, so DMs who put love into their lore and worldbuilding, please tell me everything. I want to read it all. Homebrew? Even better — DMs who bring their own homebrew jump straight to the top of the list too.

One more thing: we plan to record sessions and turn this into a YouTube series, partly for fun and partly because I'm a content creator and my family lives far away and loves watching me play. So your world and your DMing could end up on camera, which is honestly a pretty cool bonus!

Vibe-wise we're a pretty unfiltered, edgy group humor-wise, so a thick skin and a dark sense of humor will go a long way. If this post got a chuckle or two out of you, we're probably already compatible.

Communication's the one thing we really care about. Quick heads-ups when plans change go a long way with us, and we're easy to work with as long as we're kept in the loop.

Hope we can actually be friends too and not just DM and players. Whether that's League, Marvel Rivals, Slay the Spire 2 or COD Zombies, I'm down.

Drop a comment, DM me, or hit me on Discord: caramal. Let's run a vibe check and see if we click.
