I have been trying to think of when to put my end date in at my job. I currently work a full-time job elsewhere because I no longer make enough at DG to keep up with life, and so have been working 2 jobs for a few months.

I don’t mind the customers, they have rarely ever been a problem. Most of them are quite nice. It’s a few of the coworkers I work with. Long story short, I just have bad history here and I was crazy for coming back a second time. First time I left, I felt unsafe an too uncomfortable to stay.

Every time I think about leaving, a customer or customers say something incredibly nice or admit they prefer me over a certain employee (she’s had A LOT of complaints against her by both customers and coworkers.) and I end up changing my mind! I’m more lost at this job than I ever have been and I feel like my time here is long time done. I know it’s time to move on, but every time a customer smiles and says something nice, I find myself rooted cuz I‘ve never been told I would be missed or seen someone look so sad I’m leaving.

I just wanted to vent this out.

So I firstly want to point out that I’m autistic and have adhd. Also somewhat bad with money/math. (It takes me like 2 minutes to make sure I’m doing the things right) so I started work on the 2nd and got told by the manager “this was the worst times to be hired” and boy I believe her now because 4th of July is VERY big down here.

I’m so scared of messing up with money like giving to much back or having a lot more than I need. I actually had on my first day someone walk out before the receipts started working (it’s delayed) and when I saw it wasn’t working I knew the transaction wasn’t completed. I’m scared of being fired even more than that I’m absolutely terrified of jail time. This is my first job and I don’t have anyone with me.

I’m trying to get a job coach but those two things I’m so scared of because I’m truly not trying to screw anyone over I just don’t know how to handle this

Do we get holiday pay on the 4th of July?

So I keep having this issue I come in either a shift manager or a lead has alllready used my numbers to open a register and they literally have no problem with this or checking theirselves out this all seems not ok .. have not been here long no clue what to do

Im working 4 to close today. Last time I was at work which was Wed, we had those troublesome bags that are hard to open and only one register working, so I struggled my whole shift. Please send me good vibes cuz I can't have those bags be like that today.

Has anyone else in Georgia had issues where your mandatory meal has been interrupted?

I'm a key holder and oftentimes I'm either the only person there at all or the only key holder when I'm expected to take my break. I've started to "break in" and "break 'back' out" when I'm interrupted so I can have a paper trail of the interruptions but I'm curious as to how often this happens to anyone else.

I know that unpaid meal breaks where you are not fully relieved are against 29 C.F.R. § 785.19 so I'm curious if this is a single store or if it's company wide where meal break interruptions are expected and accepted.

Super stressed out about it. I don’t even know how it happened and now I’m probably going to get a write up over it if I had to guess. :/

So I work at Dollar General. First things first, middle of my shift, a guy started arguing with me because the Cash-app deposit he made wasn’t showing up in his app. I don’t fucking know. I’m not Cash-app. I just make your transaction. Call Cash-app. I can’t do shit about it. And then he made me dig through the trash for his receipt and I never found it.

Our store closes at ten. I started my cashier closing at 9:30 and never finished. There’s a basket full of go backs left. Never swept the store. We were packed with people until about 9:45. The line was all the way across the queue line. Luckily my key hadn’t counted down her til yet or I would’ve been stuck with that line by myself all the way until closing. It’s like, go home, why is everyone doing their shopping at 9:30 at night. This lady was holding up the line because she was asking a question about every deal and if it came off and didn’t even understand that some things weren’t on sale. Some other lady left a cart next to her car and when I went to go get it she looked me dead in the eyes and said, “It’s too hot. You’re younger than me, you get it.” I just shook my head and walked away. That’s so fucking ignorant. You walked all throughout the store, you can put it back. The cart drop off is right there next to your car.

Just when I thought it couldn’t get worse, it did. That same lady was with this really heavy set guy, they rode together. He has to be at least 500 pounds, and he’s a regular. I have nothing against heavy set people, but I do when you’re an asshole. He OBLITERATED the fucking bathroom. My key told me to check it and see if it needs cleaned because he apparently always does, I’ve just never ran into it on my shift. The second I opened the door I started gagging. I’m not kidding. I had to step away because I started coughing and felt sick to my stomach to the point where I could puke. I ran out of there and started leaning over and coughing. HOW do you obliterate a bathroom THAT BAD to the point it makes me SICK?! How does ANYONE do that?! There was SHIT on the FLOOR, SHIT covered paper towels in the TRASH CAN, it wasn’t fully flushed, and I had to throw away a full roll of toilet paper because it was COVERED IN SHIT! What the actual FUCK!

I never finished my closing because I was stuck cleaning the bathroom. I had to wear a cleaning mask because I couldn’t breathe in there. I would’ve passed out without one. I could even smell it THROUGH the mask but at least it blocked out the smell good enough to where I could be in there to clean it. I currently have a headache as I type from how bad the smell was. It was as bad as when I had to clean up my dog’s diarrhea. Dog owners know that shit stinks BAD. We forgot about the sidewalk sale as well with all the chaos and had to unlock the doors to bring it in after my key finished counting down the money. You could tell neither of us gave a fuck at this point tonight because there was a rolltainer from outside left in the middle of the walkway, we left all the go backs, and she let me walk out with a yellow store bag.

Do we get as full timers holiday pay for the 4th. They be changing so much hard to keep track of 😂 TYIA

Some of you may remember me as the guy who tossed his keys down and quit a week or so ago. That particular post had many, many upvotes and replies.

But that’s not why I’m here, in what will probably be my last post. I’ve wasted all the time I care to on this insipid company.

The reason I’m here now is to tell you that there is currently a reporter attempting to cover DG in an honest, impactful way. My understanding is that she has been met with some skepticism, with my favorite conspiracy being that’s she’s actually corporate stalking the Reddit boards.

So let me explain something. I have met her in-person. I’ve read some of her articles and book exerts (not the books in there entirely I admit).

She is, I assure you, legit. She is not an Undercover Boss, nor is she a corporate plant of some sort. A theory which was ridiculous on its face.

If you’d like to remain anonymous she will do that. Statistics tell me that by the time this is published the majority of you wont work there anyway.

If you’d want your story told, if you want to tell people how soul-crushing it is to work there, this is your chance. Nothing bad will befall you for speaking. If she does approach you I highly recommend talking to her. Anonymous is your choice. I chose not to be. Because frankly, I don’t care a whit. I never intend to set foot in one of these places anyway. But if job security is your concern. She will protect your anonymity. Please speak with her.

I took 8hr PTO June 13, it was approved and I even used legion pay and took 40% of my vacation pay on that day. when we got paid June 26th, that’s when it was supposed to be on my pay check. I called ERC that day and about 5-6 times since trying to get my money owed to me. everytime, they transfer my call and then that call is never answered. I did call the payroll AND I opened a case which had already been looked at and now it says case my cancelled. I didn’t cancel it. can someone please tell me if they have had to deal with this and how I can finally get through to someone and get my money. thanks yall!

I went into dollar general today and bought my stuff and the lady put in the bag. I was gonna grab it until she said I had to leave it with her since I was still shopping with my dad and grandpa. Is this some policy was she concerned I was gonna steal?

Anyone else have the new radio they installed? We had a remodel, and they put one in, I'm not very tech savvy, so I have no idea what it is, but it plays the worst music imaginable. I hear Free Bird, Bohemian Rhapsody, We Didn't Start The Fire, Crazy Train, And Foot Loose, at least twice each daily in my 10 hour shifts.

EDIT -Out of curiosity, if you have this new system, what does yours play? I'm under the impression it must be different for every store. Or at least region specific.

Hoping someone answers before I go into work, I forgot to ask last night and I forgot to ask my manager before they left on vacation
