How can I actually use my coupons?

Of course there's always the issue where the price never matches the advertised price at any Dollar general. I just asked the man if my coupons applied and he said yes but it was just the sale that took $8 off and I didn't get the coupons that I loaded to my account despite putting my phone number in. The last time I put my phone number in she was rude because I was too late telling her apparently and it didn't take the coupons off. How is it that despite entering my phone number I can never use the coupons that I applied to the account online. It is not a problem at any other retailer, but I have yet to successfully use a coupon at Dollar General.

Am I a bad employee or is my manager singling me out?

for context ive worked at dollar general since I think the 18th of april of this year, I had no real in store training and only did very specific CDL's. It took a bit but I got into a somewhat comfortable groove when working the till and stuff and I have no issues with the 2 other managers.

When I was hired the General Manager told me that shes a bitch, like straight up told me this when she hired me... but I dont think this is just her being a bitch. all other employees are female and I am the only biological male worker, I was hired specifically to stock dogfood and lift heavy stuff basically. anyway every single time I work a shift with the gm I am afraid to talk to her, she says to ask if I need help or want to know how to do something but whenever I do she acts like shes scolding me and has a tone as if shes incredible pissed off at me, even saying stuff like "What is it this time" when I go to ask her to take a item off the customers transaction because they dont want it anymore, She has a tone as if its my fault for customer mistakes.

One day she told one of the managers I was working with to make sure I rotate the shampoo, bodywash, condiments and chips and anything else up front. Now it was a somewhat busy night that night but I rotated the bodywash, shampoo, chips and I looked over the condiments and it all seemed good, I did forget some of the makeup up front but as I mentioned it was a busy night. and the bodywash isle was a MESS. But I brought everything forward and made things look nice in those isles I did but when I was confronted by my GM about that night she said all I did was stand around and stare at the items, that I didnt do anything, and whenever I try to explain she just cuts me off and says "no you didnt!" Then that night when I was rotating those areas again she gets be and says im not doing it right and brings that item forward a few centimeters to fully cover the holes....
I swear shes just nitpicking me, she says to only mop when the doors close at 10 and then gets mad when its 10:00 and I am not done mopping... I havent even started yet..

2 of my coworkers, one was a manager but she transferred to another store have both said that they would have left by now cause the GM is treating much worse than the other employees, hell when the GM is on shift im afraid to even use the ladder because whenever I try to use it when shes on the same shift as me I get scolded saying I dont need it...

I can mop and sweep and she will say "the floor looks like it hasn't been mopped for swept in days".

Ive also seen how my other coworkers rotate and work and if I did the same thing I would be threatend with a write up. This isnt a exaggeration every time I work with my GM she threatens to write me up for something?

Like how can I open a coin sleeve and deposit it into the till IF a customer cant be near me...
I CANT OPEN THE TILL WITHOUT A MANAGER OTHERWISE? While im having to deal with several customers and also rotate and clean shes taking her 5th break of the day and staring a whole through my head from the breakroom while eating a dill pickle. I dont understand how she wants me to work because shes constantly breaking rules like letting someone buy cigars without looking at their id because their regulars or friends? Ive seen her turn her head around while the till is open and a customer is waiting.

Sure I could be a bad employment, I could be overthinking this, maybe im too slow? I dont know though.. Somehow she can have a earpiece in and talking to people and constantly ignore customers or me but I cant have bone conduction headphones which dont cover my ears? I cant explain anything or explain myself without her cutting me off saying "No you wont" or something..

So genuinely am I bad employee or did she only hire me to "legally" bully and or harass a biological male..? As I mentioned my other coworkers said they wouldve left by now if they were me.

Edit: also a detail I forgot to mention is according to my other coworkers shes been through at least 10 other associates in the year the locations been opened, I cant remember the exact number but I think its around 30 but to be safe Im saying at least 10

Dollar General on the Moon

Can someone repost the story about NASA astronauts finding a Dollar Gentral on the other side of the moon on their last visit. And why they kept it a secret. I read it but forgot where and to save it to share with my cohorts. I’ll wait right here.

Just got fired😝

Ain’t no way I just got fired bc some dumb bitch contacted HR😭. Lemme give y’all some back story, so basically on Saturdays we have coupons that are $5 off $25 and $10 off $40 so I had some lady come to my register and she was honestly very nice at first but when I went to tell her the price of her stuff i realized that it took off a bunch of coupons except the $10 off $40 so I asked her if she clipped it on the app and she rolled her eyes and said yes but I ain’t even pay to much mind to that and told her to enter the phone number again but whatever number she put in took away all the coupons but before I could even say that she gets an attitude and asks me “why did the price go up?” and everytime I try to explain her she’s cutting me off and getting mad at me likes it my fault. I let her cut me off a good 7-8 times before I had enough and just said “Well if you’d stop interrupting me I’d be able to explain to you why the price went up” and this hoe wants to push her shit shit at me, the gain laundry detergent she had literally slammed right into my chest and she was like “just ring it up since you clearly have an attitude” I was genuinely in shock bc I didn’t know where the switch even came from and I told her that i wasn’t gonna ring her up and that she could have someone else take her and she said that she’s just gonna stand there and I said well imma just have everybody go around you. One of my coworkers peeped the situation escalating and called for my manager so when he came he asked me what the issue was and as I try to explain to him here comes this bitch interrupting me again and I just finally lost it and told her to shut the fuck up and we started arguing back and forth. My manger tried to calm the situation down and he made her go to another register. As I’m ringing up the next person she’s still talking shit and I’m ignoring her but she just started to stare me down so i started staring back and she buffed up at me and was like “what?” And idk why but i just threw whatever i had in my hand which was a 50 cent bag of chips and it hit her in the face. She automatically started playing the victim and was like “Did you really just throw that at me?” Like yes bitch ofc I did but anyways my manger de-escalates the situation again and asked me if I needed a break and I told him no and the day went on as normal I ain’t have any other issues. Both of coworkers that day explained the situation to him and said that I wasn’t in the wrong and from what he witnessed he said that I wasn’t wrong and that I wasn’t ever wrong for throwing the chips at her bc she wouldn’t stfu. Well today I finish my shift(which was overtime btw) and at the end the same manger told me that he didn’t wanna do this but the lady had contacted HR and the district manger told him that they had to let me go. I just think it’s bull bc since working there I’ve only gotten into one other argument with a customer and it wasn’t even as serious as this one and now it’s just her word against mine. Anyways now I’m jobless😁

ASM Assistant Manager

I have been offered the Assistant Manager Position in Missouri. I am currently a key and have been with Dollar General over a year. I am wondering what responsibilities I would be taking on and what pay do you think is reasonable?

Extra pay?

So I noticed this when I got paid the other week. The $274 was correct for the amount of hours i worked, but the $26 was unexpected. Is there a reason for this, if anyone knows?

Working without water

The dollar general I'm working has been in operation since Wednesday morning with out water plans to continue staying open until Monday or later. According to all the laws this is illegal. Not only does my manager know this so does my district manager and her higher ups. I worked Wednesday when happened assumed we'd be closing shortly after went home for my shift, but come to find out today we still open in the same situation. There is shit floating in the toilet from coworkers that's couldn't hold it. My issue is it's Saturday and both OSHA and the health department is closed I've already called the fire Marshal but since my store doesn't have a fire system he can't close down but out his own mouth the fact we are open both illegal and jus disgusting from a health stance. Is there anything I can do or jus wait till Monday?

Couponing mistake?

Can anyone help me figure out what went wrong? In the app, this should have come out to $22 approx after everything but in store it didn’t even reach the threshold, which isn’t making any sense. What am I missing? Is this a user error or a DG error?

What’s up with the milk?

I’ve stopped buying milk from this place because every time I do, it tastes awful.

It’s not expired but it always has this sour, nasty taste to it. I’ve pulled gallons that they were in the process of stocking, thinking it would be better, only to find it tastes the same.

It’s like this is at every local DG around here and there’s quite a few of them. I’ve bought milk from at least 5 different locations and it all has this sour taste to it.

The last couple times I bought just to verify I wasn’t crazy. There is definitely something off about Clover Valley dairy.

Even other products, like the half and half, suffer the same weird taste.

This is the only brand of milk I’ve found with this issue. Walmart, Aldi, Weis, etc.. have no problems.

Anybody else noticed this?

Only conclusion I can think of is either it’s just poor quality milk or they’re not keeping it refrigerated at all times and they’re selling sour milk.

I randomly went in to a Dollar general and saw that they had phones?

To anyone who has bought these phones are they actually good? I saw one for like $50 and I'm thinking about giving it to someone as a cheap birthday gift because they low-key are let's just say not in the best place financially. I was actually surprised that they sell phones lmao.

To anyone who has bought a phone recently at Dollar general is it actually good and does it work reasonably well for like a phone that you're not just going to turn on but to use for like internet and tiktok etc?

And it was like 50 bucks So I was like maybe this phone's going to be really bad. It's not even going to be turned on lmao it's just really for internet and being able to watch YouTube and stuff like that to just get their mind off things.

Can I use a 5 off 25 coupon or 10 off 40 at a different store than the one it was issued at?

I got coupons at a dg in one city, I'm going to be in a different city this saturday and interested in taking advantage of the coupon. Is that possible?

Might be quitting and I just started a month ago

so I got hired about a month ago and honestly I’m about to quit.

I live in a small town and everyone knows everyone. My boss when I got hired said if I had any issues to let her know and she’ll address them. last night I had a shift with an older lady and right off the rip she had a horrible attitude for literally no reason. I had my second son almost 4 months ago and I have to pump since he’s at the sitters. she was trying to figure out who all was taking a break and what time. I said id take mine around 8:00pm and she gave me the most rude attitude and said “ uh you don’t get a break because you work 5pm-close. I was like well boss said I could. she kept saying you don’t get a break until I said well I need to pump to feed my child so. Then she said “well if she said that then I guess that’s fine”. cool whatever I go about my night. i worked the register and I called for her 4 times and called her 2 times until she came and helped me. that will be important later. well for most of the shift I dont know where she is and other employees or even customers had to go find her. gets to the end of the night and she pulls my register and counts my money and didn’t hear anything else after that. we get to the end of the shift doing produce and apparently she hasn’t counted the other girls register and I said “ oh I thought u already counted it” I really thought she did. she snaps back and says “I gotta count everyone else’s money not just yours”. I was taken aback like why an attitude?? so I ask is she okay, she walks by and says “ girls are u talking about something you’ll regret in the future?“ like thats a threat? she makes comments that are not not allowed outside past 9pm and other stuff. when we finally get to leave me and one of my coworkers left together since i had to grab my boys from a family member’s. she makes a comment “ does she throw fits like that often“ talking about the coworker. mind you she just ran to her car. I text my boss when I get home that is it possible to switch my Friday shift to mornings that day. mind you I’ve told her what happened already. She does nothing to stop it or even attempt to help me but said “ if I have problems with anyone or anything to let her know” . so am I wrong for not wanting to work in a toxic workplace especially when complaints about a coworker doesn't get handled. I’m not sure if it’s because they are friends or not.

Is there a way to view org chart if you aren’t a employee anymore to see if a certain store manager or regional manager is still there?

I left there last year after being with the company five years and have been at Dollar Tree ever since. I just found out an hour ago that the District Manager that is primarily the reason I left and who was there for 16 years just quit two weeks ago.

I’m not going to say I love Dollar General, but I do really love the store, and it actually genuinely hurt hurts seeing it decay. They have already shut down three stores since I’ve been gone, and I can feel this one being next.

My main concern is since the District Manager was a woman and she did like to gossip, I’m not sure if she trash talked me to the two training store managers that I do still believe are there. For the most part, I kept good relationships during my employment, but with the fact that I did quit without notice due to being falsely accused. I don’t know if I was put under non-re-hireable or what damage was done to my reputation.

is this out of line??

ive never posted on reddit before but i need a second opinion here. tomorrow is my last day working at my DG (thank the Lord), but a while ago, our store manager made this announcement and its been my roman empire since.

i get the message 100%. though it wasnt a common occurrence for cashiers to eat/drink at the checkout from what i could see, i understand that maybe it needed to be talked about anyways.

but... come on, the wording!!! "cramming food in their face"??? "slurping"?? "THIS IS A BASIC ADULT FUNCTION"???

i cant be alone in thinking that this is absolutely nuts

Fresh Truck came in on not normal day, bigger than usual, and only two people scheduled

MY MANAGER WOULDNT PICK UP HER PHONE EITHER

RHEN THE TWO PPL WE LEFT TO DO IT FROM 2:30pm to 5 LEFT STUFF SITTING OUT LIKE WTF HOW ARE YOU NOT WORKING LIKE ITS IMPORTANT TO PUT UP.

honestly, my manager pissed me off when she didn’t answer my calls, and none of the stores she could be in answer their fucking phones. Then one of the two scheduled for mid day are slow as shit, and you can tell them the milk has to be put up first, but they’ll be stocking lemonade when you check on their progress (whilst I’m doing 1 of 3 uboats of frozen) . Like bro where is your sense of urgency.

But the other lead? She just left at 5 with shit on the floor still. And I couldn’t stay because my ride had somewhere to be, and if my manager wants to pay me to get an uber for a 4 min drive sure, but I told her he moment the truck came to GET ME SOME HELP for a fresh truck twice the size of it normally.

I stayed an hour over to help, and I got one boat done. I’ve been there since 7am by myself, so of course I’m not coming back when I won’t have a ride back home for another few hours. My manager knows this. I went back at 6:30 to pick up my keys, and I wanted to stay but honestly no that shit fucks with me. The manager had zero awareness today
