Allegations hearsay dms calling us slaves in their meetings?

I'm sure it could get eventually traced back to me but recently a store manager stated that they had heard from other stores they had information obtained from district manager meetings where they classify store workers as slaves . I don't know how many people purposely maintain recording of corporate employees to maintain professionality and to be treated like actual human beings but if you have to secretly record conversations or utilize a phone recording app then that would be useful like auto call recorder.

Stylenest Kitchen Mats???

So at a DG around me I found some kitchen mats from the Stylenest line that Google says went to a penny in November 2024.

I scanned these via the app on my phone, in store today Aug 17, 2026 and they are coming up full price.

There's no scanner in store. They are blue heart tagged.

Should I ask for a price check?

Help!

What should I do?

Hello there! I've been with my dollar general for about 3 years now, im not sure if im getting used by management or just mistreated.

Im a good employee, I make sure all my tasks are done, I got promoted to key in less than a few months of me being with the company due to all my willingness to work and get the job done to its most highest standard and average about 30-35 hrs a week, gosh I live over a mile from my store, walk back and forth and NEVER HAVE BEEN LATE!!!

Most recently as in the last few weeks to months I have noticed a BAD shift in how I am treated by those around me, as in fellow keys, associates, and management. As in im getting spoken about negatively to my face, behind my back, in group chats, to eachother and its gotten to the point I honstley get sick more than anything (naseua) even stepping foot onto the property. I have realized that the management is buddy buddy with the associates and other keys (im singled out). Gosh I was just told I was blamed for not one BUT TWO computer issues and im the type to leave it be if i don't know what is is or what to do with it. Im honstley trying to keep a smile everyday when im there (five days a week in a row) but its to the point where I can FEEEEEEL the fakeness...

And im a super nice person who gets a attitude for saying no...so what do I do here?

Do i get ahold of higher up? Do I start looking for different employment???

any suggestions would be wonderful and a majorrr stress release.

thanks for reading!!

First day at Dollar General

Not terrible, I guess. A little strange, definitely. I learned how to clock in and out previously during computer training. So I went in and clocked in. The lead handed me a till and said $150, you don't need to count it, and walked away. No instructions no walking me through any transactions.

I've been in retail for a hot minute, and to be honest most Piece of Shi... I mean P.O.S. systems are similar enough to figure out basic transactions pretty quickly. So I just kind figured it out as I went. She came running up later saying she just talked to our store manager who wanted to know how my hands on instruction was going. She had no idea that I was that new. Which leads me to question #1.

Do your managers communicate with each other?

Also, the assistant manager is practically giddy that I have planogram experience. Like entirely too excited. She said "we usually try to train them, but they have problems with the hard ones. You know, the ones with pegs." What the actual hell? So question #2

Are people with planogram experience that few and far between? Or is this store in a sad state? OR Am I completely overqualified for a key holder position?

And lastly

The employees in this store just scream across the store when they need help. No intercom to page someone nor a radio with an earpiece. I can handle the key responsibilities, and the hectic mess that comes with it. But, I am not sure my nerves will handle someone screaming my name for 10 hours.

Is it standard to bellow for a manager?

Is it really like this to work at Dollar General or did I get hired into a struggling store?

Former Store Managers: Question

I have a few questions for all the Store Managers who used to work for Dollar General but have since moved on to other jobs. What company did you go to once you quit? What role did you take and how much do you make the new job? Are you happier there than at DG. And if so why? What is better about it? What’s worse?
Honestly I mostly like my job, and my new DM is fantastic. There is really no pressing reason to leave. Honestly I could probably take a DM job within the company instead if I wanted a change. My store is doing fantastic, shrink has been cut in half, I’ve got a solid small team that makes life easier, some whom I’ve become very close with. I make more than anyone else I’ve seen posted on here, in many cases considerably more, and more than mostly everyone else whose salary I know of in my district.
That being said, I’ve done and seen it all with this company. The more I’ve moved up within the company, the more disillusioned I’ve become. I will say I understand the DMs and Managers side of things much more now, and many of my previous complaints as a PTSA, LSA, or ASM seem petty or were due to my own lack of understanding. I see similar complains on here by others, crying foul, not understanding the reason why they’re wrong. I’ve avoided commenting bc i still actively work for the company. Sometimes a little understanding goes a long way, and some of that blame is due to your own managers for not explaining things better in some cases; however, I also know the immense stress they are under daily trying to do an nearly impossible job with an underpaid staff, high turnover, and lack of hours and resources. The “do more with less” policy if felt by everyone, and those responsibilities stack the more you move up in the company; it only gets harder, not easier. It’s why Im hesitant to explore a promotion within the company. There are many variables outside of your control that determine whether you will be successful or not, and often sacrifices have to be made to accomplish success.
If you’ve quit, did you find work right away? Have a job lined up first or not? Are you better off? I tend to see a lot of people step away and come back. That makes me assume that leaving didn’t work out, and despite the absolute chaos, DG was better than their alternatives. If you are someone who left or took an FLMA break, why did you come back? Are you happier now or just didn’t have another option? If you left and didn’t come back. Where do you work now? What’s your position? How many hours do you work? What’s better about it?

Felon at dg

So I passed my initial backround check and got hired because I do have a felony from a couple years ago, I got hired in as keyholder and 6 weeks later im acting sm, now im getting emails saying "pre-adverse action" from the background check people saying I have 7 days to dispute any adverse action regarding my employment so I sent them an email explaining everything and where im at now. What are the chances I dont get fired?

Freee🙃

Well I got fired yesterday morning. I had been offfor 3 straight days and my boss put me back on the schedule for a 4 hour morning shift. She also had a schedule posted that showed me off for a whole week. I got in the store early and asked why I’m off and she says “I can’t talk to you til you’re on the clock”. She makes me clock in so as to “not waste my time” and tells me that the district manager wanted me out of the system. If you wonder why, it’s because the dm says I’ve had too many voids and too many warnings.

Now voids are something that in my opinion unavoidable, especially one the night shift and weekends which are busier than the rest of the days. Everybody knows that but, I manage to get the worst end of the stick, because the district manager is just that anal about it that she’s taken it upon herself to write up multiple people and fire me and another person about it. This is all f***ing ridiculous in my honest opinion but what’s more ridiculous is that I got put on a shift just to be told I no longer have a job. She said she didn’t want to say it over text or anything for it to get “misinterpreted” so that somehow that meant to have me drag myself out of bed at 7:30am with 2 hours of sleep just to get turned around and told to appeal the termination, when they could have called me or (and here’s the fun part) they know where I live. I’m not even mad about losing the job because it wasn’t even worth it but a brother got bills to pay and it was already hard enough to get that job from the last one and 2 years of knowing the good customers just down the drain.
There’s nothing I think I can do here but what should I or could I have done here by your experiences?

I know my typing/writing is shite please bare with me
