LRod Compared to Outlaw Run

I've been on LRod 4 times and loved it so much, best coaster in the park in my opinion, my friend just did Outlaw Run and said the drop was gut wrenching...

To me LRod wasn't gut wrenching...and I'm not to big of a fan of the BADDD stomach feel like you wanna throw up.

How is Outlaw Run compared to LRod

First Time Visitor from UK

Hi All,

I'm planning on travelling to Dollywood in late March 2027. Just starting to think about dates and plans.

Any advice on how to plan as a first time UK visitor? There doesn't seem to be any options online to book direct with the resort. Does anyone have any recommendations for online based travel agents to work with? Online is easier than back and forth lengthy expensive phone calls.

Thanks!

Visit Date Advice

First and most likely only visit - trying to pick the best day to get the most out of it and was looking at Sunday, June 14th but saw it is Sevierville Days so wondering if Tuesday (16th) would be better?

Park is open later on the 16th but that’s not a huge factor for us - more worried about lowest crowds. On that note - is the Timesaver worth it?

Visit is 2 adults and three kids (7, 6 and 4).

Thanks so much for all input, it’s much appreciated ❤️

Trying to gauge intensity/fear factor for my family. Can you compare the Dolly coasters to Orlando area coasters?

We're pretty experienced with Disney and Universal rides, so we know what works for each family member and what doesn't. Can you guys give equivalent comparisons of Dolly rides vs Orlando rides? For instance: Blazing Fury= Big Thunder Mountain or Lightning Rod= Hulk? This would help me immensely to understand who can ride what!

Terribly inaccurate ride review from a first timer

I'm almost 52 and have been having a troubling relationship with thrill rides for 25+ years. So, I grabbed the kids and we set out for Eastern TN last week. Sounds like a great idea. Me and daughters age 16 and 24.

I also don't know the proper names of the rides

Drop Tower: I started here because the kids are chickens. Majestic views from the top. The trip down was fast.

Minecar Mystery Ride: Meh. We only rode it once but I found the 90-degree aspect of it neat. The SLOW inversion was fun.

The Bear: I REALLY liked it but it didn't like me back. The last tight spiral did me in and really messed up my head. I only rode it twice. The kids rode it 5 times.

The Dragonfly Ride: I did not enjoy it. It's slow to load and it did too any spirals. I came off it woozy as heck.

Heartsong/Tour Bus/Collection of outfits: Very cool and a nice rest after lunch on the first day.

Lightning Rod (also known by any other number of car-related names such as "Carburetor Chaos"): This utterly kicked ass. I think it was the best ride in the park. I was only able to ride it twice because it jostled me a bit too much. I'd have ridden it 47 times if I could have. On my first ride, I was laughing with utter joy and it brought tears to my eyes. The most fun with clothes on in decades.

The slow car/Autopia: My 24 year old daughter drove and kept banging into the rail. I still have a bruise.

The river rapids ride: We got utterly soaked from the waist down (we wore rain jackets). It was fun but we were squishy all afternoon

Carousel: Fun

Bumper Cars: EXTREMELY fun

The Train: I "6 7'd" some kids as we rode past and I think I made their day.

The Eagle: Very good. I only rode twice because (see above) it was at the edge of my brain's tolerances. Kids rode it 5 times.

Bird Show: fun

Thunderhead: I do love an old time wooden coaster. It did not like me back. Only 2 rides. I wanted more. Kids rode it 5 times (sense a trend?)

Tornado: Down for maintenance for most of our trip.

Firechaser: Our favorite ride. Not the best ride but we LOVED it. The backwards part is fun. We all rode it 4 times.

Blazing Fury: Easily the worst ride I've ever been on and I left it cackling with glee. It's just so terrible. I utterly loved it but was only allowed to ride it once. I yearn to go on it again.

The kids rode the swings - good for them. I sat that one out.

We had a blast. It was the first trip with just me and the kids...an excellent Dad and the Gals trip.

Help with Non-Roller Coaster Loving Teen

Taking my teen who is afraid of heights to Dollywood over the summer. Suggestions on what rides we should try to plan to do multiple times and if there was a ranking of what roller coasters I should try to get him to try (ie, mildest to no chance in heck). Also any strategies for TomeSaver knowing this are welcome. Thanks!

Summer Celebration ERT Redemption is Live

Good morning everyone!

The redemptions for Dollywood’s Early Ride Time (ERT) event are now available. You should be able to login to your Dollywood account and see the passes to redeem under “Entitlements”.

The ERT is for June 20th and includes Thunderhead, Whistle Punk Chaser, Drop Line, Mystery Mine, FireChaser Express, Wild Eagle. It begins at 8:30 and runs until 10AM. There will also be a sticker at check-in for each participant. Check-in ends at 9AM.

These events are great to enjoy certain sections of the park before others as well as obtaining a special keepsake.

If you have any questions, I will do my best to answer them.

Nightflight Construction update (digital screen testing!) 5/30 🚧 🦋

Most notably, the large curved / U-shaped LED screen inside was turned on for testing! I believe this is also the point in the ride where the turntable is but I am not 100%. Other interesting things seen; the rock work entrance portal where the ride sign will be is coming along nicely and lampposts have been installed. Along the length of the walkway. The building still has to be enclosed on multiple sides, interior still is not done, testing has yet to start, and there is no landscape installed sooo my current guess for opening is early late summer early fall but in reality I don’t think a single person knows for sure.

Time Saver Passes

Going in a few weeks. I was wondering if the time saver passes are worth it now that it’s summer time. It will be my first time going and I will be there the majority of the day!

Thank you!

Dollywood surprises

We just bought our season pass to Dollywood. This is my first time with my 11 year-old daughter and we both loved it and think we found our happy place today she rode thunderhead, big bear Mountain and fireflier but ended up feeling sick. We were about to go to mystery mine but we have to delay that to our next trips, although she loved the ride she went on. Do you have any ride recommendations . On the other hand, we are staying at Dreammore and with the decorated toilet paper, and everything were surprised to find that they have no streaming services and you cannot are gonna screen cast after? You might be wondering why this is important but after a long day at Dollywood, you are left feeling tired and just wanna see the show you wanna watch if you’re relating to this please tell me

Plus Size Friendly

We went today for the first time and I was mega anxious. I had a terrible experience at Silver Dollar City with not being able to ride things. I’m, for sure overweight but I’ve been to Disney and always been able to ride everything so it kind of shocked me.
I was really worried about DW. But we had a fantastic time and I was able to ride everything with no issue.
I am 5’3” (which does work in my favor), 215ish, I carry weight in my check and lower belly. I wore snug athletic pants and a snug sports bra intentionally.
My husband is 6’1” and 280 or so. He’s pretty evenly proportioned but weight is in his belly. He was able to ride everything he was willing to ride. lol.

Both:
Lightning Rod
Thunderhead
Big Bear Mountain
Blazing Fury
River Rampage
Wild Eagle (we both fit test seat. I rode twice. He chickened out. lol)

Me:
Wild Eagle
Mystery Mine

I didn’t even have a close call on any. Lightning Rod was the most uncomfortable but only at the end when it stops hard.
He was only close on Big Bear but it had more to do with his legs length. They had him cross his ankles - he swore he was sitting “CrissCross applesauce”.

I just wanted to share my good experience and hopefully make someone feel better. I had come here and read several posts so I know which ones to check before I got in line.

We had a great time and I found it slightly more affordable than most parks for food and such. 🩷

Possible cancellation at resort?

Hello. I had booked a room at heart song for tomorrow night and was planning on taking my oldest daughter with me so we can go to Dollywood on Monday however she is now sick and not able to go. I know I can’t cancel with less than 72 hours but do they allow for a credit or rescheduling the date for the room? It’s too late now to call so I’m stuck either possibly losing the money for that room or going by myself and having to leave my wife with 4 kids, 2 of whom is now sick

What should i expect to spend?

I’m thinking of surprising my husband with a trip to the Smokies for our anniversary this September, and we may or may not bring the dogs or kids with us. I like that if we vacation here gives us the option to do both. But I’ve never been to Dollywood and I don’t think I know anyone who has!

How much does one typically spend there to have a good day? It says tickets are $125 for a two-day pass to get in. But like what’s the food and stuff? Parking? Souvenirs? (Add are they worth it?)

Like how much do I need to spend to have, not a red-carpet great time, but at least a nice time?

Dolly Parton new fast food chain coming...Can't wait to go

https://www.allrecipes.com/dolly-parton-tennessean-travel-stop-11985139

Dolly's Tennessean Travel Stop will replace the company's current flagship gas station in Cornersville, Tenn., which is about an hour and 15 minutes south of Nashville. But, according to a previous press release for the business venture, additional locations are planned across the state—because it's only fitting that the Smokies star should open one in her "Tennessee mountain home."

Plus, there are plans to go nationwide. "The first rebranded location will serve as both a proof of concept and flagship for future sites planned under the Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stops banner," the release stated.

But no matter where the brand goes, it will be authentically Dolly, which means it "reflects Dolly’s love for her home state" and will feature an "evolved travel experience that integrates modern amenities, curated dining, and authentic regional retail with the approachable comfort travelers expect from both brands."

Cinderella Songa

I recently rode the Cinderella. I heard a very cool song. The chorus was a vocalized and harmonized “ooo-oooo womp-womp” I’m having such a hard time finding this song. It was male vocalists and had a relaxed feel. Any help is appreciated!

Dining

We will only have one day. Which one of the restaurants in the park should we try to get on the waitlist? Our kids are older so we thought we’d have a nice lunch in the air conditioning while they ride rides. Thank you!

Temperature at water park

Hey yall! Wondering if it’s too soon to enjoy splash country around June 4th?? I’ve been in the dead of summer when it’s miserably hot but the water feels amazing and I’ve been when it’s cooler and walking was comfortable but water was freezing. Debating on whether I should take my family to splash or regular park (been to both already)
