We have been heads-down on a major update packed with top-requested features and display improvements, and v3.9.0 is officially live for all Paperman users.

Reworked Classic Matte: display fidelity everywhere

Our core objective with this rework was solving grain scaling inconsistencies across varied hardware setups. We incorporated feedback from users on everything from 1080p and high-DPI panels to curved ultrawides and vertical secondary monitors.

We completely rebuilt Classic Matte from the ground up:

• Uniform grain consistency: Sharp, artifact-free grain distribution across standard, high-DPI, ultrawide, curved, and vertical monitors.
• Resolution & DPI calibration: Eliminates moiré patterns, pixel stretching, and blurred grain patches.
• Seamless Liquid Glass synergy: Blends effortlessly with Liquid Glass to bring a crisp yet soft visual finish to your screen.
• Lightweight engine: Low resource usage so your setup stays fast and responsive.

New: Desk Lamp Mode presets

Alongside the texture overhaul, v3.9.0 introduces presets for Desk Lamp Mode so you can shift lighting and tone without manual tweaking.

Jump into Desk Lamp Mode to explore the new lineup, including Quiet Aurora, a personal favorite that pairs nicely with the new Classic Matte for focused evening sessions.

How to update

The new Classic Matte directly replaces the previous version in v3.9.0. Simply update the app to the latest build, toggle on Classic Matte, and check out the new Desk Lamp presets.

Get Paperman on Setapp

Hey everyone!

We just pushed Paperman v3.5, and the star of this release is a brand new feature we've been working on: Desk Lamp mode.

The idea here is to give your screen the warm, cozy feel of sitting beside a physical desk lamp, with a dedicated settings tab so you can make the lighting entirely your own.

Since we are launching this as an experimental feature, we’re keeping a close eye on feedback and would absolutely love to hear what you think and how are you tuning your settings?
