Matchmaking

Are there actually any beginner bronze players on the matchmaking? I feel like everyone is extremely experienced and I get crushed every game.

Do I send the agent twice?

Hi, experienced player here.

One of my friends yesterday pointed out, that this combination of Kwisatz Haderach and Ghola should allow to send an agent two times ignoring the restrictions.

I was bewildered by his suggestion, but since rules do not specify unique circumstances and cards overrule them, after a long thought I do not see why it shouldn't work.

I've spent multiple hours on D:I Digital yesterday and today to play this combination. And the game… sent one agent, drew one card and that was it.

So I turn our query to you, all-powerful Reddit users, for your opinions and what would your playgroup agree on.

Does Urgent Shigawire draw a card?

I think this card has no immediate agent effect, but since the icon is printed like this I'm not 100% sure if it's also supposed to draw a card.

Dune Bloodlines Question about Kota

My group and I are in a disagreement about Kota's passive.

Does her discount from her passive only applies to the tech tile she picks at the start of the game?

Or is it a passive for all tech tiles she buys all game long, like the high council discount?

Thanks in advance

Questions about Shaddam IV's Sardaukar Contracts

I have a few questions about the Sardaukar Contracts that come with Shaddam Corrino IV.

To complete these contracts, do I simply need to send an Agent to the Sardaukar board space, or do I actually need to gain the Sardaukar Alliance?

Once I meet a contract's requirement, do I have to claim the reward immediately, or can I choose not to complete the contract yet and save it for a later round?

For example, if I meet the requirement this round but would rather claim the reward next round, is that allowed?

Thanks in advance!

Maker Hooks required to summon Sandworms?

Hi everyone,

English isn't my first language, so I apologize if I've misunderstood the rulebook.

I'm a bit confused about how summoning sandworms works in Dune: Imperium – Uprising.

Is Maker Hooks always required to summon a sandworm, or are there exceptions?

For example, with Deep Desert:

Assuming I've already paid the 3 Water required to access the space, do I choose between:

Paying 4 Spice, or

summoning 2 sandworms for free if I have Maker Hooks?

Or, if I don't have Maker Hooks, can I instead spend the 4 Spice shown on the space to summon the 2 sandworms?

In other words, does Deep Desert let you substitute 4 Spice for Maker Hooks, or are Maker Hooks still required to choose the sandworm option?

Thanks in advance!

Please ELI5 how to get digital DLCs on different platforms

OK! Been wrestling with this for a bit since I heard it was possible to do this. Current situation is this:

* PC has Dune (via Steam) and all three DLCs, plus Dire Wolf game room signed in

* iPad has Dune (base only) plus Dire Wolf game room signed in and open

Supposedly, from what I've read, I should be able to play Dune with the xpacs on my iPad (through DW game room) because I purchased them on another platform. But every time I go into Dune on my iPad, I only have the option to start a base game. Am I missing a step? Or am I hosed because I bought all the stuff through Steam originally on the PC?

Balance Vs AI

I am only playing vs AI, but i would say it also applies to human games.
I feel like rounds 7-8 have too powerful rewards for the battle phase (the multiple victory points). The player winning these rounds wins the games, lowering the impact of the small synergies you can do here and there for other ways to gain victory points. And making military emplacements like the space guild one that gives 5 troops immediatly recruitable in combat very OP, and so the player playing first having a huge advantage.

Basically vs AI i just wait to win the first interesting round and it makes me win. The *2 bonus from the wurms makes it very OP, you can even get 4 VP.

What do you think :)?

WTF difficulty :D

Ok so i tried the Hagal AI type on Kwisatz Haderach difficulty on Base/Immortality expansion.

It's a 1v1v1.

I don't know how you win this :D AI deck is completely broken!

Sandwormed into a crazy high score

Hit 10VP before the conflict concluded, then won with sandworms --> +2 VP, +2VP from paying 12 solari, +1VP from matching icon, +1VP from endgame icon match. Been doing not so hot in these online matches so it's nice to get a big win

[Dune:Imperium] Recommend me an expansion OR modification

UPDATE: I am aware of the Deck builder web app, but i am kinda confused by it, how do i know the stats are good?

i have DI vanilla, i like it for being relatively skill-based, its option to go for a specific build, tactics and benefit for predicting other players.

I dislike that sometimes, luck can really influence the game (drawing the 5 cards, etc…).

which expansion would you recommend to me? why?

is there any sensible modification (that does not break something) to the game that can make it more skill-based/more player agency (going for specific build), like for example by having 6 cards instead of 5 in the Imperium Row?

Uprising rivals getting their swordmaster way too early

I feel like I'm doing something very wrong. Every time I play solo, both rivals get their swordmaster so quickly that I simply can't keep up anymore. And by quickly I mean round 2 at the latest.

I just took one of the rivals that needs 9 resources for their swordmaster. Same thing as always happened - gets a few resources round 1 and then lands on the Deep Desert round 2. He already had 10 resources at this point. If this was one of the harder rivals, he would've had his swordmaster twice by now. And when this happens, the game starts feeling unwinnable right away and I just want to start over.

I just don't get it, because the one time my rival actually didn't get his swordmaster until turn 5, it made the game pretty easy. And other times he gets it immediately and it becomes impossible. There's such a gigantic gap in difficulty here that's completely dependent on luck. Especially the desert fields give the rival way too many resources in one turn, while other fields barely do anything. It feels really unbalanced and makes me think I'm doing something wrong. Deep Desert is an instant swordmaster for most of the rivals. That just feels so wrong.

Is it supposed to be like this? I honestly don't even see much difference between the rival needing 5 vs 9 resources. They'll get to the 9 so quickly that it doesn't really matter what the number says.

Base Game Great Alliance Heroic Challenge

I'm really struggling with this challenge, I'm just feeling spread too thin to max multiple faction tracks before the game end triggers. Anyone remember how they beat it?

Best Way to get early swordmaster?

In the Base Game I was able to get Swordmaster quit fast and also with good moves. For example when you go the Emperor space and you also get influence. So, it is a good move.

But in Uprising I can only go for spice and trade it and after four rounds you would have enough solari to get swordmaster but for me these moves are not good since they do not give you anything else then Solari.

Maybe, try over contracts? Or if you lucky you win a battle spot to get solari too but that is RNG.

So, I must say getting swordmaster is not only harder because it costs 8 solari but it seems to be less effective as well

DI: Uprising rules help

I’m not understanding the troop deployment.

When I go to a board space with a conflict icon and a troop reward I am allowed to deploy that troop into the conflict that I recruited that turn AND deploy up to two troops from my garrison into my conflict.

If I recruit a Sand worm from a conflict space that goes immediately into the conflict if allowed (shield wall is not up) and am I also allowed to deploy troops from my garrison?

If I go to a conflict space without a troop icon am I still allowed to deploy troops from my garrison into the conflict?

That’s how the rules read to me, but when I Play the App I can’t deploy troops from my garrison into the conflict unless I recruited a troop that turn from a conflict space.

Leaders to add to curated deck (mostly Uprising + Bloodlines)

Which of the D:I + Ix leaders do folks think are worth adding to a game where the decks (Imperium and Intrigue) are mostly Uprising + Bloodlines, but with some of the less interesting cards removed and some of the more interesting cards from D:I + Ix + Immortality added? Gameplay to be Uprising/BL boards (with CHOAM contracts and tech) only for now -- no Ix shipping/tech/DNs, no Immo maze/track; Immo probably to be added sooner rather than later once the salad gets proven out.

Persuasion cost spread is the same distribution as Uprising + Bloodlines with (IIRC) -1 4pt card and +1 8 pt card (CHOAM Directorship), so Armand and Helena would work "as intended" -- insofar as they would work with Uprising + Bloodlines in the first place.

My thoughts were:
Armand (though trashing's easier in Uprising, it's still good for him, a couple of unload cards/assassination mission made it in for the princess, and his ring now has better targets)
Ilesa (ugh, I'd have to pack my Foldspace cards, but I like her a lot for some reason, don't know why)
Tessia (probably a little less of a monster out of the gate but still quite strong)
Leto (a solid leader all around, but paying Solari doesn't seem quite as common in Uprising as D:I + Ix)
The Beast Rabban (on the fence here)

I'm looking for someone to talk me into including the Baron, but with Hardy Warriors gone, Masterstroke seems nearly impossible to pull off barring Heighliner or the right Imperium/Intrigue card.(Edit: I was reminded it's two troops at Research Station.) I could houserule it to be four units so he could use deep desert. OTOH, that's four more pieces of cardboard to pack in an overstuffed box if I include him.

I am so bad at Uprising

I just do not understand how to get better.

Should I focus on contracts or worms? Should I join early battle or not?

No Matter what I do it always seems to be the wrong choice.

:(
