I bought my self an e34 530i straight six with a automatic transmission. I have started restoring but when I bought it, it only had reverse gear and last owner told me that he just lost all forward gears no rattling nothing no noise at all. What may be the problem and is it worth fixing because I dont want to manual swap it I wanna keep it original also its the electronic 4hp getrag trans.

Hello everyone. I have a 92 525i m50, and i’ve been searching for manual swap parts for quite a while. So far I have only had luck with finding a pedal set and a 3.46lsd from a 535i. I am still currently looking for:
Driveshaft
(getrag 250, zf310, or I’m also toying with the idea of 6 speed swapping the car, in which case i’d need a 530i automatic driveshaft from a car made before 10/93)
Shifter linkage
(getrag or zf)
Transmission Brace
etc.

Why is my 518i m43b18 doing this in first gear? (no it’s not me not knowing how to drive manual) I let the clutch out like normal but the car jerks like crazy unless i change to second gear or just floor it in first… And it doesn’t do it in reverse…
I'm 19M and I've been super interested in buying an E34 or E39 as a first car. I'm already semi-prepped to deal with the crap that comes with owning a BMW, the only thing really holding me back is finding one with a stick. Am I going to be wholly unprepared for what's in stock for me if I do ever end up finding one?
How do you remove this sensor. I tried strong arming it and twisting and that hasn’t worked at all. Any other methods?
Is this price legit? From austria everything is rare and expensive 😔 280€ used
Hi fellow E34 fans!
Recently picked up this 525i from 1988 and I’m really happy with it. It still has the original paint, very little rust, and is in surprisingly good condition for its age.
I’ve got quite a few plans for it, but I want to keep it mostly in the classic OEM style and preserve the original character of the car.
I’m also considering giving it a fresh paint job, but I’m a bit torn about the Cirrus Blau Metallic. I dont really like the color and I’m wondering if there’s a way to make it look a little deeper/darker while still keeping it close enough to the original shade that it doesn’t look completely different from the engine bay and other areas that won’t be painted.
I’m not really looking to strip the entire car down to the shell, interior, engine bay, etc. just for a paint job, so I’d love to hear what others have done with this color or what you’d recommend to get the best out of it.
Also, where do you guys in Europe usually look for E34 parts? Any good sources for OEM or quality aftermarket parts?

Starter finally went out on me yesterday looking to buy a new one. Do yall have any experience with this one. Any problems you've had with it?
I have too many cars right now but I plan on getting rid of my e90 and picking up a v8 5 series and the e34 stylistic wise to me is pretty nice, not sure how these hold up or drive compared to 3 series cars though.
Traced the wire and it leads to the node on the right in the 2nd photo.
There isnt any give, it doesnt seem like it could come off unless i cut the wire its on, but no idea how id get it on the new wire.
Hello. Does anyone know if replacing this front kinda crank case and front engine is doable without pulling the engine and if these are the right gaskets?
So i have an M30B35. Planning to replace the radiator, front hoses, serpentine belt. And the what i think is the “Distributor housing gasket”? Possibly the thermostat? And then the Intake boot. So basically the distributor is on its own block, and that is attached to the front top head valve/crank case. It’s leaking from that connection, shitty/old gaskets. Im wondering if this is a possible drive way job since im removing the front obstacles is this something i could do without pulling the engine or without exposing anything dangerous? Whether or not the brand is good i can find better but is this what i need/will help with the distributor block, thermostat housing and head valve? Or am i straight tripping and need to do more work and assess more. Please let me know im pretty uneducated like i know cars but yk this is its own breed. Ive adjusted the valve spacing from the rockers, done some fan switch work, FPR, coils, plugs, injectors and some basic hose replacements. Just let me know what im doing apologies for rambling thanks.
I see an engine swap and a custom suspension in the bimmer's future. I enjoyed a wonderful summer offroading this car and yet I still cannot find a good name for it. do you all have any ideas?
Finally got the full livery on. You’ll see the ups and downs of getting this cream E34 finished. Major engine failures and more. And due to some comments the wheels got a quick respray aswell
Is there anyway to test my o2 sensor to make sure it’s working? I have had a rough idle issue for the past couple months and I’ve solved every issue besides my o2 sensor. It would be the last potential solution(besides a compression test) but I would like to check before I buy another o2 sensor.
Help needed, got my whole rear subframe swapped(during v8 swap) for big diff, and for some reason the track width is wider by 6cm, back than I had 2mm spacers each side and there was still plenty of room, now with same wheels and even more camber it's scraping sidewall like crazy even after rolling fenders. All sources I found say that there ain't any confing of e34 or even e32 where trackwidth is that wide. Only thing I know is rear brakes are from 525 ix. What do I need to change to go back to old trackwidth?
