Wanting to sell my 540

Not sure if this is allowed here but thought I’d give it a go, feel free to delete if not. Wanting to sell my 1994 540i automatic, has 167,000 miles on it (will climb slowly as I do drive the car occasionally). Only reason for selling is I’m moving across the country and have to downsize on vehicles. Clean title in my name. Can get more information and pictures to anyone that’d be interested, asking $4500 OBO

Joining The Club!

Just picked up this Clean 1994 525i with 112k miles. She’ll need a little interior TLC but the previous owner took great care of it. No Gelcoat fade, 3 tiny rust spots on the doors. I’ll be doing some interior restoration and paint correction on a couple spots and eventually a manual swap. Super stoked on the pick up!

Painting a AC-Schnitzer/M-Spoiler as a First timer, how did i do?

2nd Layer Clearcoat, very fresh, one small runner on the top and a good amount of overspray on the bottom (small knob on the last picture is structural, that isnt from botching something)

Radio Fitting

Does anyone have ideas on how to make this retro fitted radio stay secure? It's an Alpine iDA-X305S.

This radio was not retrofitted by me. I bought the car like this and it falls further out upon some spirited acceleration ;-;

M30 cars - Value?

I unfortunately need to offload an ‘89 535i. Bought from a buddy, between him and I tons of maintenance has been done. Car runs drives and stops great. Needs a good amount of cosmetic love but the bones are very solid. Has a lot going for it, factory standard, LSD, lot of brand new parts, runs and drives great, on staggered Mille miglia, etc. I was under the assumption M30 cars were pretty desirable but it’s been sitting on marketplace for a hot minute. What is a solid going rate for a fully running but still project car these days? Happy to share additional relevant info if anyone in the northeast is looking.

Locked outside of car

I was working on my car and accidentally locked my keys inside with the battery disconnected. Best method of getting in?

Car lockout part2

Ok so I tried all the basics of unlocking the door from the outside and realized I fucked myself by shutting the door while the battery is disconnected. Triple A also attempted to open the door and failed. They recommended to call a locksmith

A) Call a locksmith and have them struggle opening the door

B) Smash the window and learn how to replace it

Smoke test

Doing a smoke test and saw a ton of smoke coming out of the engine air filter box. Can this cause a rough idle? Also I put the smoke in the in front of the of the box and opened the throttle. It’s my first time doing a smoke test what are the main entry points I should be starting from to get an accurate reading.

just saved this '92 islandgrün touring. planning on doing a sleeper build, any wheel recommendations?

just picked up my new project and daily driver. it needs some love, starting with winter prep and electrical gremlins, but the long-term goal is to turn it into an understated sleeper.
the plan: glass-out respray in the original green, a custom interior, and a M50B30 stroker swap (2.5L block with 3.0L internals) for low-end torque on mountain roads (and probably more).

the wheel dilemma: the car came on 17" style 5s (BBS RC090). they look classic, but they're too dainty/common. i want a muscular 5-spoke or solid wheel that supports the E34's geometric lines without screaming for attention.
I want to avoid the usual ac schnitzer, parallels, throwing star which i feel are too common. i’m currently looking at two directions:

  1. racing dynamics RGR (17"): Love the soft, organic radius and the deep central concave.

  2. bmw style 26: fascinating star-mesh geometry and incredibly rare.

has anyone run low-offset 17" style 26s or racing dynamics on a touring? how is the presence in person? any other unpopular recommendations?

Ac compressor has 0 psi

Tried recharging my ac and the gauge didn’t move at all. I followed all the steps and my compressor pulley was working. Is it an internal issue or a mistake on my end? Also can I rebuild the compressor or do I have to get a new one?

My 96k Mile 89’ 525i

After scouring for an old bmw to finally get into working on cars I picked up this beauty. Paint is not perfect, interior is for too gone and it’s an auto. But no rust! it runs great so far, and only costed me a little over 2g’s.

Got it running!

Just a little update. Got it about a month ago for $750

Had to pull the fuel tank and clean it. New fuel pump, new fuel filters, new battery, new spark plugs. Refreshed the injectors with a Race German kit, tightened up the throttle cable and voilá!

Haven't driven it too much yet, need to get a few other small things done but so far it seems to run and shift very nicely. Much different feeling than my e30 lol
