Does Anyone Else Think NCAA 14 Feels More Organic Than CFB 27?

I've played pretty much every college football game that's ever come out, and I find myself playing CFB 27 but constantly going back to NCAA 14. NCAA 14 definitely had bugs, but the games just felt more organic to me. When I won or lost, I usually understood why. It felt like football, not like the game engine was influencing the flow of the game. CFB 27 sometimes has me sitting there like, "I don't even know what just happened." 😂 Maybe it's nostalgia, but I honestly feel like NCAA 14 is less frustrating because the outcomes feel more natural.

Anybody else feel the same?

Traditional Option offense

I found a couple of silly things like "Keep both hands on the ball" ok I will remind these digital dudes to practice ball security.

But outside of that it is a pretty decent guide.

I used to love running the triple option out of the Wishbone. Sometimes I would throw only 1 or 2 passes a game.

My buddies banned me from using it as an offense.

Matt10's Version 4.0 Sliders

I said I'd post the Version 4.0 sliders when they're complete, so here they are. Here's a summary of what was worked on:

----

Some significant changes to the set post-patch. The main focus here was getting the defenders to cool down just a bit on their aggression. Lots of canned pass breakup animations were starting to hurt the immersion. Too many drops and just perfect defending made it into a pretty frustrating experience overall. In response, the importance was to find a way the offense can have any kind of an advantage, for once. To do that, Fatigue was raised to 75 (from 55), and that instantly brought in the sense that the defense wasn't consistently overpowering the offense. Even if slight, there were more inches of space and more calmness from the CPU QB, more big plays from receivers since the DBs weren't blanketing them at any given route. The game is now what college football should look like.

Wear and Tear - Values changed to last year's CFB26 slider set as that had been fed back to be a solid starting point. Still being looked at as always.

Fatigue - From 55 to 75. As mentioned, allows a bit of a "cool down" in the aggression defensively. Results in a less super tight game, which is what college football is all about.

Penalties - Full regression was done, and upon finding Fatigue, the only value needed to be looked at in general was DPI raised to 65 (from 45) to allow more chances of the penalty to be called. Not to mention less pass breakups as was needed pre-patch.

Heisman difficulty - Wanted to introduce more forward momentum through the tackling, and more chance of elusive players to create more yards. Giving the QB more time in the pocket with receivers that can hold onto the ball in traffic.

All-American difficulty - Maintain the challenge of the previous set, while adjusting for the increased aggressiveness defensively.

Best Def Playbook for online dynasty?

Any suggestions for the best playbook to use in online dynasty?

Any custom playbooks that you can recommend?

I’ve been running the 4-2-5 zone pressure and I like it but it’s missing something that I can’t really put my finger on

Post Update Bugs

Here is a list of new bugs that I experienced in dynasty, post-update:
• Stunts create more collisions with teammates or players do not stunt at all (the update claimed to fix a problem I didn’t see instead, making it worse).
• The timeout bug is white rather than saying time out.
• Unable to change teams between divisions within a conference. Side note - rather than toggling a required number of protected rivals, make it so a team can rank order their own rivals individually to ensure rivalry games each year and the proper games on rivalry week.

What the update did well:
• Way less injuries.
• Less exits due to wear and tear
• The new uniforms are cool.
• Player growth is significantly better and requires less XP Slider intervention.
• Recruiting menus now snap to the top when switching between positions (thank you for that simple QOL fix).
• The offseason recap is a nice touch.

Outstanding issues:
• Team overall rating logic.
• Some fillable fields delete upon first letter entry (coach name) while others require use of the clear button (division name). This is a simple QOL fix that is caused by a lack of attention to detail.
• Playbooks driving sim results rather than overalls.
• Custom playbook creation should be available in TeamBuilder to reduce the workload for a custom playbook.
• Custom playbooks change the formatting in-game such that kickoffs start with onside (custom offensive) or weird return packages (custom defensive). Hail Mary plays are lost (Hail Mary Goal Post). Formation layouts are weird when selecting plays from the huddle.
• Pass and run blocking need to be better. Some missed block are just illogical.
• Assigning captains does nothing.
• Depth chart needs to support auto sub format (R and Sub packages).
• TeamBuilder attention to detail with logo centering, size and facemask clip colors.

I have some really cool ideas to add nuance that could make this game feel more authentic and every season feel unique. That can be for another post.

Let me know anything I missed below.

Guide to Building dumpster fire programs.

Building bad teams is my favorite way to dynasty. There is nothing quite like early struggle and the back and forth.

Once you get those first couple of difference makers and start to believe it is magical.

Coaching Carousel After Update

Has anyone noticed that the coaching carousel has little to no opportunities after the update?

Year one, my online friends league has several blue chip schools open up. Year 2 after the patch NC state was the best and only power 4 school. Does anyone have a few more seasons and know if it gets better with time?

Leave it to EA to over-adjust and blow up what was a much better mechanic…
