I'm wondering if i could build a commander deck around cards with clever names using The Reaper, King No More. BRG cards that maybe are double entendres, puns, meta references, or slight changes to common idioms.

Hey everyone,
Looking for a Dragon theme (Dungeon & Dragons / Tarkir / The Hobbit).
Or a dungeon kind but with dragons, you get the point, we like dungeons dragons and hobbits.
I also looked for cards in the LOTR set but didn't find anything..
Yesterday i found out about this card [[Sword of Dungeons & Dragons]] but sadly is not commander legal, i was like damn, WHY.
But yeah..
The idea is to gather some dragon staple cards and then implement more dragon cards from the hobbit coming next month.
If you have any decks or ideas, please right below, or if you have moxfield links feel free to share.
Thanks in advance.
Instead of choosing a commander first, I decided to do the opposite this time. I picked a bunch of cards I really enjoy and now I'm looking for a commander that can make the best use of them.
Who would you recommend, and why? I'm open to any color combination if it fits the cards well.
I’ve been putting this list together for a bit now, slowly adding and trimming and changing stuff around. I’ve yet to break it out into an actual game, and I wanted to see what the general consensus was about the power level.
As far as my goldfishing shows, this deck can consistently win with infinite mana combos and Finale of Devastation/Thassa’s Oracle on turn 6. While it can technically wins together before that, it generally doesn’t seem to, even uninterrupted.
I’ve been looking for another big creature to put in the deck as a big slam option alongside Coma, but I can’t find anything that presents the same level of threat on its own. (Plus the Coil tokens are great with Enduring Vitality, often my first tutor pull [adore that card]). I love the Eldrazi titans, and while they’re certainly serviceable, both getting the cast trigger from the “put on board” tutors has swayed me away from adding any of them.
Let me know your thoughts and any suggestions you may have, be it a slam creature or just a general note to add!
Hello all,
One of my good buddies has a deck that runs Shadowborn Apostle's and brings out cool demons. He runs this deck as mono black. I think the multiple copy of a single card idea is neat and is a space I have not deck built in. I typically build multi colored and haven't attempted a mono style deck. I know that mono white gets a bad rap but I want to build and deck tech out a mono white Templar Knight build. However, I am open ideas in a dual color space if its a must.
The mono white commanders I have landed on so far are:
Hokori, Dusk Drinker: The white control commander who does not get a lot of play. The idea here is that the commander slows everything down but with the Templar Knights I can bring out artifacts that get around the mana crisis that would be created by Hokori.
Avacyn, Angel of Hope: Flying, vigilance, and gives the knights indestructible. However, with the Templar Knights ability, I imagine I would tutor up a big artifact that can give them indestructible so I don't know if I would want that on my commander.
Multi-colored commander options:
Sigard, Font of Blessings: goes into a human build and creates a lot of good protection for the knights and humans.
Goldbug, Humanity's Ally: Just a neat commander trick.
3) Grand Arbiter Augustin IV: Operates kind of like Hokori but with access to blue.
Another thing that I am looking for help on is what big artifacts I could be targeting with the Templar Knights.
I appreciate any feedback! I'll update this thread as I update the build.
Thank you!
I am looking for feedback on this Koria Sovereign of the Deep list I'm planning to build. The feedback I'm looking for in particular is if the ratio between the different card types is good. Also if any cards are to strong for bracket 2/3 as that is what I'm planning to play.
I’ve been trying to find a way to just make a bunch of Crabs.
I’m prob super late to trying to make infinite crab tokens, but I feel like there’s a way to do that here.
I would have things like [[Ojer Taq, Deepest Foundation]], [[Exalted Sunborn]], and [[Mondrak, Glory Dominus]] to make tokens. Plus [[Helm of the Host]] and [[Quantum Misalignment]] for some other tokens. Obviously a [[Skull Clamp]] What else would I really be looking to add if the goal was to make a swarm of crabs and kill with them? Is there anything that would let them deal damage equal to their defense? Also I have black so maybe some [[Mirkwood Bats]] and similar stuff?
Also torn since I wanted to either use Marneus for a 40k Warrior Tribal to match the Quandrix x Tyranid Swarm Magus I built (pretty much X Spells and Tyranids). The other plan was to use the Aharon the Everchosen (also add that Ghazghkull card) and do 40k Warrior Tribal that way.
Originally I was doing Howler as commander and then Dancing Crab but with “Tap Deal Damage” + Scuttletide, but I’ve realized it’s two opposite goals and it’s better as two decks.
Im looking at Loki Lord of Misrule and I have a few ways I want to build this deck. I think one of the things I really want to do is somehow also change my opponents stuff, so for example turn their board into DanDans. What cards would enable something like this? This is a bit out of my wheelhouse but sounds really funny.
Ganax is one of my most played commanders, mostly because i really like the whole background system, but also because i really like dragons. I've tried a bunch of different background combos with Ganax, and i am now experimenting with Far traveler.
Far traveler background allows a tapped creature to get exiled and then immediately return back to battlefield. In worst case scenario, it can be used to generate one treasure through Ganax's ability. In best case scenario, it can be used to activate a powerful ETB and also spawning a treasure.
General idea: dig through deck to find and slam Galactus, then assemble Exodia with extra turn loops and cloning abilities to speed up the Galactus beatdown. There's plenty of infinite blink combos with the usual suspects, and in testing the lock typically comes online around turn 8/9.
I'm looking for advice on better/different card choices like draw, better ways to fish up the Surfer/Galactus combo, maybe means to streamline and start the clock a turn earlier, as well as general feedback (also whether I should include more staple blue stax pieces or if they'd just slow me down). Earlier builds had mill combos with [[Traumatize]] and [[Riverchurn Monument]] / [[Fraying Sanity]] as an alternative to Galactus, but sudden full-library mill feels arguably worse than presenting a combat loop win in monoblue.
I’ve been playing magic for around a month now and ive concocted what I think is so far a decent deck but I’m having trouble making a land base. I just don’t understand what it is or how I can make a really good one so I thought I’d turn to here for help. If anyone wants to bash my deck or can lend assistance I’d appreciate it. I’m playing cloud ex solider. I’m looking to spend around $130 on land base I could do more could do less whatever works really.
working on a secret commander deck. Im thinking of lavaleaper as the choice, because it struck me as fun during lorwyn reveals. What's the most fun tactic I can brew with it? Izzet x spells?Aggro gruul? Who would you put as the commander?
Has anyone brewed a Deck with Venom using some of the new Marvel cards & would share their list?
I focused on an Aegar deck that is supposed to be a battle mage. No giant tribal stuff just pure burn spells that will be used as removal/card advantage, until I draw one of my repercussion style effects as a wincon.
I do think in my opinion this is perfectly bracket 2, but obviously it’s going to be control. I don’t mind fighting a 1v3 I think the deck is built to win those scenarios anyways.
In your opinion, what thing(s) would you say make someone a great deck builder and/or talented player.
With many people putting together a pile of cards with the most synergy from edhrec, many decks with the same commander can look very similar. So what would you say is an indication that another player is a good/great deck builder?
What would you point to that would indicate that someone is a talented player? Conversely, what would you point to that a player is below average in talent and/or deck building?
At first I was looking at this guy as an edict tribal commander, but as I got into scryfall I realized just how much treasure support there is in mono black. I'll admit I'm not super versed in this type of deck, so any suggestions very welcome. I want to trigger him on other players turns and am looking for more ways to do that.
Apologies for the UB, I don't like it just as much as the next EDH player, but this one spoke to me. Shocked (relatively speaking, I know the Marvel cards are new) he has so few decks, seems like he occupies a pretty unique play space? He's a souped up [[Evin, Waterdeep]].
Let me know what you think: Link
Hi guys, I'd like some feedback on my maralen fae ascendant deck. Its aiming to be bracket 3. Im trying to make it better and see if anyone else sees weaknesses. Also it's a bit too slow maybe and a little inconsistent, im finding i have to mulligan quite a few times to get lands, even though im running 38! While also finding a hand that has an early engine i can get online
Thank you!

I have an [[Osgir, the Reconstructor]] deck that I built shortly after it's release in 2021 during a time when I was playing with a group of friends pretty regularly. That group played almost exclusively bracket 4 decks, so I relied heavily on EDHRec to try and make this deck keep up with that group, adding some high powered cards that I didn't quite understand how to utilize.
Nowadays I don't play as often as I once did, and the group I now play with regularly run mostly bracket 3 decks. I find that with this deck, I can generate a lot of value, but I struggle to close out games. It becomes a bit of a game of solitaire, which isn't fun for me or my opponents. I've got some [[Basalt Monolith]] combo pieces, some burn pieces like [[Walking Ballista]], and plenty of cantrip artifacts, but these feel almost like conflicting themes.
I also really struggle to pilot this deck, as there are a lot of triggers and lots of combo potential that I miss. As I said, I don't play as much these days, and I think I'm just an okay Magic player in general, so a lot of the sequencing gets messed up. It has too much under-utilized combo potential that muddies the game when the rest of the table typically plays more of a battlecruiser or midrange style.
I do really like the commander and the potential this deck has, but given my play style and my normal play group, I'd like to make this deck less of a chore to play with and against. I'd be open to powering it up and making it more efficient, even if it pushes it further into bracket 4, so long as I find it a more fun and engaging play style. I'd also be open to simplifying it a bit to fit more closely to bracket 3 or the lower side of bracket 4. I'd be open to spending up to $100 on new cards for this at this time. More information regarding my thoughts on individual cards can be found in the primer.
Please let me know any thoughts or questions you might have. Thanks for reading!

I've been playing this deck alot at the LGS. I purposely wanted to move away from the potential voltron route for this commander(since he doesnt have in-built evasion) and just make him part of a wave of large artifact creatures he helps ramp into. Is there anything obvious I'm missing out on? What would you change?
