🔥 Ptarmigan chick is asking me to follow her off the trail and who am I to say no?
Yesterday, I was a bit disappointed because I hadn't seen birds or hare all day. The mountain I climbed is called "Blyfjellet" - *the lead mountain* - and that name isn't about natural deposits, but...eh...explosive delivery.
The hunt hasn't started yet, so I was just hiking. Ended up meeting 8-10 ptarmigans here. What's remarkable is that this young female chick seems to have learned behaviour from its father: Directing potential predators away from eggs or siblings by staying on the ground, making me follow her. I complied with pleasure.
You can also hear the enormous difference in sound females and males make. The hen's clook clook can hardly be heard, the cock at the very end leaves no doubt as to what's flying up there.
How do Americans define "ALL NATURAL"? This one had the unholy quartet of industrial food: Corn syrup, aromas, colours and stabilisers.

Here are the floor plans to the house I built.
Can’t tell really from the picture, but there is a rooftop deck up there on the small section.

For all you fashionistas out there.
Rosso's recent sharing of floorplans reminded me that I have some of my old apartments' floorplans saved to my computer. Here's my very first apartment.
If you insist hard enough, even some dripping wet firewood from a long forgotten backup stack in the forest will burn... =8^)
Seeing Beluga whales in person, I understand the mermaid myth. They literally look like people in costume

It's mostly for my youngest, who fiercely loves stuffed animals and uses them to help regulate. They named her Toast.
We only had a partial solar eclipse in Norway...that was barely visible in this setup from the woods above my house.
My wife made crème brûlée today and I just love the final part just before serving: Caramelizing the sugar.
Almost as if I melted myself. Did any of you guys see the solar eclipse? I have a family film at a bonfire I can't share, but am looking forward to pick up my other camera from the forest tomorrow morning.
Sumer lunch: Red beete with onions and Ebly with red radish, both with a dressing served as salad.
Behold my $50 lasagna
A weekend trip with hubby resulted in a visit to an Italian market and purchasing of very expensive imported ingredients. This better be the best meal I've ever made.
Imagine this filtered water exploding in your face because the Chinese factory used a piece of plastic painted silver instead of real metal.
Wheat with meat 😎: Boiled ebly as salad with backed meatloaf.
'Like a Moody Punk Rocker,' the Red Handfish is National Geographic's 18,000th Species Photographed
I just read the article this morning. I'd give the NatGeo link, but they are proprietory and have a paywall.
The photographer, who created and is in charge of this project, has photographed animals that went extinct shortly after being photographed. He's preserving a photographic record of Earth's fauna.
He just turned 60 years old. He son will take over "when his knees give out".
