Muscadine Grapes or scuppernongs - where to buy or u-pick

Hi friends, NOLA-native but been away for awhile. Where can I purchase muscadine or scuppernongs in the area? Willing to drive 1-2 hours to MS or northshore or pick up on the way back on I-10 W. Thanks!

Harrison County: Help stop Flock Safety ALPR cameras tracking our vehicles without consent

Hey East Texas neighbors,

I'm circulating a petition to end the Flock Safety automated license plate reader (ALPR) camera program in Harrison County. These cameras track every vehicle that drives by — recording where we go, when, and how often — often without most residents even knowing or consenting.

This is taxpayer-funded mass surveillance that raises serious privacy concerns and potential overreach. We deserve public input and transparency before systems like this expand.

If you value privacy, consent of the governed, and keeping local government accountable, please take 30 seconds to sign and share:
https://c.org/yMhJTpqL5Z

What are your thoughts? Have you noticed these cameras around Marshall, Waskom, or elsewhere in the county? Let's discuss civil liberties in our community.

This is a long shot, but does anyone recognize this news article from 1998?

When I was 8, I was diagnosed with ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia), and the doctors advised my family to put my cat up for adoption. She was adopted by a couple along with a kitten from the Palestine shelter, I believe. Or at least, Palestine wrote the article snippet about it. I sent the shelter a not so nice letter (at least, I thought I was being rude, hence the p.s. at the end), and a box of Sassy's "privet things". She was my best friend. She was the most tolerant cat in the world, and I pestered my doctors to death asking when we could adopt her back. (Obviously that never happened, haha.)

Anyway, I stumbled across the article again and thought, "I hope she had the best life." And then I wondered if maybe I could track them down to ask that question directly. 😂

Delete if not allowed. <3

East Texas

I remember it being so much more calm on the roads and places before people kept moving here. Am I the only one that notices people driving like maniacs and there’s way more vehicles on the roads now?

Has US Steel permanently closed the Lone Star Steel Mill?

I know a piece of it was shut down in December 2016 and that it planned to reopen in either 2019 or 2020 but then COVID-19 came and idled the entire plant again. They haven’t officially said it’s out of business as far as I know but the flags at the office are gone and the office itself looks pretty dilapidated. Furthermore, the railroad tracks at the plant are overgrown as well as much of the plant itself.

Have they just abandoned it?

Where to stay

Needing to go to Texarkana this weekend from Oklahoma and I wasn’t sure where to stay the night. Should we stay in Texarkana or drive on to Paris or is there somewhere in between that has a good place to eat and sleep.

Belt buckle restoration

Does anyone know of a good place to restore belt buckles? My friends dad recieved this when he was on the police force in Washington and he needs help finding a place that can fix it. This isn't the exact image of what it currently looks like, its just a similar one I found on the deep web.
