What an awesome show, and I loved his cover of American Pie

American Pie is the song that started off Beoga’s set tonight. (Usually it’s Galway Girl). Ed introduced it by saying he was doing something special for the 4th of July and America’s 250th Birthday, and urged the audience to sing the chorus loudly, saying that they’d know the words. Then he surprised them with the opening chords. American Pie was a huge hit internationally, in the early 1970’s.

And finally, the full song! The audio is good, the visuals aren’t close to stage but you can see Ed and it’s crazy to hear Ed singing all those lyrics nonstop for 8 minutes🤯

Ed does have a Teleprompter available, maybe the first time I’ve ever seen him use one. Who can blame him, with this song?!

I remember an old interview from maybe 10 years ago, Ed was talking about his deep love for Don McLean's American Pie, saying he thought it was one of the best American folk songs ever made, and he was suggesting people go on YouTube and watch videos that analyze and explain the meaning of the song! 😍 I think this is the first and only time he has ever covered it at a concert. Wow!🤯

EDIT: I’m still looking for that interview where Ed speaks at length about American Pie, but here is a gorgeous video of Ed sitting with Don McLean in 2015, rehearsing Don‘s song called “Vincent“. Ed sounds and plays beautifully here. 🤩

I’ve been thinking that Ed might sing the First Dance, but probably something less common or typical than Thinking out Loud or Perfect, do you think he wrote something new and special, personal to Taylor for the occasion?💕💐🍾
If he was going to sing, first dance or otherwise, what do you imagine he would choose? I’ve heard that Taylor says that Tenerife Sea is her favorite song by Ed.
Of course, Ed is wearing trainers!😁I love how the blue trim exactly matches his gorgeous suit. And Cherry looks simply stunning.🍒💐🍾

Ed and Aaron were dining together at an Italian restaurant near Saratoga Springs earlier tonight, and greeted guests and staff. Of course Aaron’s famous Long Pond Studios is in Upstate New York, but that’s two hours away from Saratoga, so I don’t think the location is related (though it would be awesome if Ed were recording at Long Pond Studios with Aaron again! 💛➖💛🍂🍁🍂)

My feed is FULL of info, gossip and speculation about a possible Taylor Swift 🩷 Travis Kelce wedding rumored to be happening in the next few days at Madison Square Garden. News outlets are reporting on it as though it’s a fact 🤷🏻‍♀️ Major event preparations are being made at MSG, road closures, permits, police, etc. (Some quietly say it’s related to a World Cup event but they’re drowned out by the wedding chatter).

What if the wedding is actually in Upstate New York? Because certainly Ed and Aaron would be attending. Of course they could have been visiting for many other reasons, but it’s a very out of the way place for both of them to end up. 🧐

(For some who might not know, Aaron Dessner of The Nationals co-wrote and produced Taylor’s Folklore and Evermore albums, and Taylor encouraged Aaron and Ed to work together, resulting in the ➖Subtract and 🍂Autumn Variations albums.)

So I was making an Ed Sheeran acoustic playlist and I read online that there are acoustic versions of "The A Team" "Lego House" and "Photograph" that are not available in the US. Sure enough I wasn't able to play them on either Spotify or Amazon Music.

I don't know if this is allowed on this Subreddit but I was wondering if somebody who does live in a country that has these (I couldn't find the Photograph one at all even though I read there is an acoustic version) could send them to me. Thank you!

ETA: I mean the specific studio acoustic versions like what I screenshotted above; not like the songs live, boat sessions, etc.
