I made a PDF on management accounting basics for finance or accounting interviews

Been applying for entry-level finance and accounting roles and noticed the same topics keep coming up: cost behaviour, break-even, budgeting and variance analysis.

So I put together a blog-style PDF covering the basics, with worked examples, charts and a focus on how to actually explain these things in an interview.
It covers fixed/variable costs, contribution and break-even, flexible budgets, ZBB, rolling forecasts, variance analysis and some common KPIs.

The main thing I’ve realised is that interviewers don’t just want you to calculate a variance. They want you to explain why it happened and what you’d do about it.

I made it as part of a learning project I’m working on with Eixo Learning, basically turning my study notes into something actually useful for getting a job.
Figured I’d share it in case anyone else is currently applying for finance/accounting roles.
