Elegoo Neptune 3 plus

So I bought this off of FB marketplace for $150. Original it was leveling good and then for some reason now it won’t “snag” the paper. I don’t know what I didn’t wrong and I’ve very new to 3d printing. Also any other tips for 3D printing especially for cosplays and props would be greatly appreciated. Sadly I can’t spend a whole lot of money because I spent most of it on this and my job pays like shit.

Help! 3D printer is acting weird 🤔

Hi everyone!

So for specs

I'm using an Elagoo Neptune 3 printer

PLA filament at I believe 1.75 mm?

Elagoo cura splicing software

Printing at 15mms for the first layer and 50 mms for then onward

To preface I have finished modeling for the first time a project now onto 3d printing. I have 3d printed odds and ends before! Including their little test Buddha statue thingy!

I finished printing the first part as well! However as this is a multi part structure I immediately wanted to try queueing up the next part but now the 3d printer forgot how to print? Unsure.

Usually when it starts to print it will go to the center and Zero it's Z axis then go to the left hand side making two strips and finally starting the print.

Instead the printer now moves to a few spots pretty quickly before the filament or bed have even warmed up, does not even attempt to actually use filament, will start trying to print-ish in the air? Like wayyy higher than it needs to be, and then finish in like 5 minutes complaining about the filament?

A video is attached above.

This one strikes me off cause I changed no settings and all of a sudden it just bonked?

P.s. I have tried the factory settings reset and that did not help sadly.

Please any and all help is very appreciated!!

Neptune Maxout: Easier Klipper installs, OTA updates, custom themes, KAMP, and guided calibration

The Neptune Maxout project has received a major update! It is designed to make installing and using Klipper on the Elegoo Neptune 3 family easier—even for new Klipper users.

GitHub:

https://github.com/HDR-Performance/Neptune-3-Maxout-Configs

WHAT DOES IT DO?

Instead of manually creating folders and uploading every configuration file separately, users can select the package matching their printer and controller and install it through SSH.

SUPPORTED PRINTERS

• Neptune 3

• Neptune 3 Pro

• Neptune 3 Plus

• Neptune 3 Max

SUPPORTED HARDWARE

• Stock Robin Nano controller

• BIGTREETECH SKR 3 EZ

• Pad 7 with CB1

• Pad 7 with Raspberry Pi CM4

• Raspberry Pi 4

• BIGTREETECH Pi V1.2 and compatible 7-inch screens

NEW FEATURES

🔄 OTA updates through Mainsail

After the first SSH installation, Neptune-Maxout-Configs appears in Mainsail’s Update Manager. Future improvements can be installed without manually copying every file again.

🎨 Custom KlipperScreen experience

• Neptune Maxout theme

• Landscape and portrait layouts

• Four Pad 7 screen orientations

• Correct touchscreen mapping

• Custom controls and menu shortcuts

• Optional retro toy-laser button sounds

• Separate CB1 and CM4 handling

📐 Z Calibrate + Clean

This guided tool can home the printer, optionally heat the bed, clean and purge the nozzle, open Klipper’s TESTZ controls, and save the new Z offset.

🛏️ Guided bed tools

• Front-facing bed screw map

• Support for four to six adjustment screws

• Saved screw locations

• Manual bed tramming

• Temperature-guided full bed mesh

🗺️ KAMP support

The installer can configure adaptive bed meshing, Smart Park, and controlled purge lines.

🧵 Filament and maintenance tools

• Load and unload filament

• Color changes

• Runout recovery

• Heater safety

• PID tuning

• Input-shaper calibration

• Pressure-advance material profiles

• Maintenance counters

• Improved pause, resume, and cancel functions

⚡ Experimental speed profiles

Normal, Fast, and Ludicrous profiles are being developed for controlled testing. These change Klipper’s maximum motion limits, not the speeds commanded by the slicer. Upgraded motors are strongly recommended before testing Ludicrous mode.

AFTER INSTALLING OR UPDATING

  1. Confirm that the package matches the printer and controller.

  2. Verify the MCU connection and pin configuration.

  3. Run Z Calibrate + Clean.

  4. Verify input-shaper settings.

  5. Home the printer and perform low-speed motion tests.

  6. Keep the automatic backup until successful prints are completed.

Built and tested by HDR Performance. Community testing and feedback are welcome! Tell us which printer and controller you use and how the installation goes.

Surprising Find at the Local Thrift Store

Neptune 3 Plus. The bed moves, the toolhead moves, the hot thing heats and the extrudes. Tested it on the mystery transparent filament dangling out of it that it came with. Haggled it down to $100.

But this is my first Not Bambu printer and I have zero clue what should or shouldn't be with this thing. Any insight would be appreciated.

Now I just need to find a very long printer USB cable...

My printer keeps clogging

My printer is a Neptune 3 Max and keeps clogging mid print, when it started clogging, i replaced the hotend (including the tube and nozzle), because i checked and it looked very worn out, it printed fine for 2 hours after the replacement and then clogged again, i checked and noticed that the fan on the right is not turning on while priting, this may be causing the issue? i searched and it says that the printer may not turn on all the fans mid print, so i have no idea if this is the cause or not. There's no leaking or heat creep. I'm printing PETG, i dry the filament, 230C temp, 0.4mm nozzle, been printing PETG for 1 year and this is the first time that i had this issue

Extruder motor clicks once then stops on Load — not a jam, motor already replaced, hotend at temp

Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro, firmware v1.1.5.1b. Extruder issue that's stumping me:

  • Took the extruder apart, reconnected everything, and swapped in a new stepper motor
  • No jam anywhere — confirmed by fully disassembling and inspecting
  • When I turn the gear by hand, filament extrudes fine
  • Grub screw on the new motor's shaft is tight, haven't needed to adjust it
  • Hotend reaches temp fine (200°C) before I hit Load, so it's not cold-extrusion protection
  • When I hit "Load," the gear moves maybe one click, then stops completely — even though the hotend is at temp and there's no jam
  • I recently swapped the mainboard/PCB and that fix worked (printer ran successfully after that)
  • Machine printed successfully before, then sat unused for about a week — now this issue on the next attempt

Since I've ruled out a jam, cold extrusion protection, a loose grub screw, and the motor itself (already replaced), I'm trying to figure out where to look next:

  • Could this be a stepper driver issue on the new board specifically for this motor's axis?
  • Wiring/connector problem between the board and extruder motor (intermittent connection that lets one pulse through)?
  • Firmware setting related to extruder steps/current that could've reset or gotten corrupted, especially after the board swap?
  • Anything specific to it sitting idle for a week that could cause this (e.g. moisture, connector oxidation)?

At this point I'm leaning toward board/wiring/firmware rather than the extruder mechanism itself, since I've replaced the motor and can drive filament through by hand. Any diagnostic steps to narrow this down further would be appreciated. Should I just order another extruder or use this printer for parts?

Printer stops feeding filament mid print

Hey! I never really use Reddit but I thought this would be the best place to go, so I’m using an elegoo Neptune 3 pro and I’ve been having an issue where everything is printing fine, and mid print it will simply stop trying to extrude filament, it’s not a clog because I had cleaned it out, the gear on the top stops moving entirely, I had a second head which was brand new and even when I switched heads it has the same issue, I unplugged and replugged the ribbon cable on the top and readjusted it. I don’t really know what to do with this and was wondering if someone here has seen something like this before, Thank you!

Getting a nozzle temp to low and thermal runaway codes on a brand new extruder

Got a thermal runaway code so I got a new extruder head after disassembling the old one and not finding anything. Now it's doing the same thing on the new extruder head. Set it to 220 for pla and at later 2-3 it dropped down to 194. Put it up to 240 for a second and it steadily rose again. I'm keeping it at 230 right now and it's working fine. But if it happens again what is the best course of action

Broke the tensioner

Checked on my print and the tensioner broke in half somehow. Trying to find a replacement and it’s been a struggle. Anyone have a lead?
