PETG settings?

I made a post the other day about layer shifting on the y axis only when trying to print in PETG for the first time(linked below). I'm using orca and my SE is in stock configuration on stock firmware. I followed the advice given and slowed down the speed settings mentioned and while things improved, I'm still having issues as shown in the attached pics. I'm really new to this and trying to learn but this has been extremely frustrating. I'm wondering if someone could share their settings line by line(speed, quality, cooling etc)so I can compare to figure out what is off. I'm printing at 240 degrees with the bed at 70 and I've confirmed that my y belt is not slipping

Original post here:

The first pic is a temp tower that has a slight layer shift and is slightly curved. The second is a socket organizer I've previously printed in PLA with no issue. For that one ironing was turned off because I thought that might have caused issues on one of the many previously failed prints. I also set the print speed to 70% on the printer to further slow things down

Universal 3D Printing Automation: Take Control of Any Printer

Hey everyone, I'm excited to share a project I've been working on: a comprehensive, one-click install automation system for 3D printers.

It works seamlessly across native Linux, WSL, and Chrome OS, and is designed to support virtually any 3D printer.

Key features include customized Klipper configurations and a dynamic, user-friendly control interface designed for maximum ease of access, speed, and stability.

Known Completed Configurations: Ender-3 V3 SE

Known Compatible Printers: Ender 3 V3 SE

If you have any recommendations on my next configuration setups please do not be afraid to let me know as I am looking for all suggestions for anyone who needs assistance.

Please note that this is a work in progress and is not completed. I am not liable for any damages, etc.

Help with Stringing

Just got some new Filament (eSun PLA+)

Printed the Temp-Tower and settled on 210°C and 55° for the Bed

I use the standard Orca Slicer setting but adjusted the retraction to 1,4mm from 1,2mm

I don't know, who I can reduce the strining

Or is the amount of strining in the picture reasonable?

I'm just getting started with this printer and don't have much experience with 3d Printing in general

What do I do with my bed?

I am using eddy probe with klipper. I did a bed mesh scan and these horrible numbers came out. The bed was preheated.

What came out of the printer?

My creamery ender v3 se wasn’t printing, so I took the filament out and the bronze piece came out, then I took out the nozzle and the tube came out, is this fixable??

I just replaced the CR-Touch... trying to set the z offset and can't get it correct.

I just replaced the CR-Touch on my Ender 3V3SE. The old one was working fine for the year I have the printer (I bought it used).

After unscrewing the old, screwing in the new one (which side by side are the same height) and reconnecting the cable, I fired up the printer and did autohome. The probe came out, light was blue, it touched bed and turned red.

The booklet said to reset configuration and then go into z offset and dial that till the nozzle is .1 mm (paper thickness) away from bed.

I tried doing that and the offset stops at -10. and the nozzle should still go down some more to be .1mm from the bed. It's about 2mm above the bed when the offset tops out at -10.

The video isn't the best - the nozzle is NOT touching the bed during autohoming.

There wasn't any shims on the old cr touch, I never thought to see what the old z offset was / how close the nozzle was to the bed when autohoming or using z offset.

Anyone see issues?

why this happening ?

This happened suddenly.

At first I thought the nozzle was the issue, so I bought a new one and installed it.

But the problem is still there. Next, I need to open the extruder and remove the stuck part.

Then do another Auto Level.

After that, on the second print, this happens again.

I've now given the machine to a professional repair technician.

He says that after 6 hours of printing, the machine has no issues at all.

Opinions on the opportunity of buying an SE on the cheap ( already own a KE ): opinions of SE owners please -- is it worth it ?

Hello to you.

I already own an Ender3V3KE, and I'm waiting for an unicorn kit to arrive, so, I'll have a spare KE hotend.

I was already considering buying a second printer, and the SE has always been on my radar, and now, there's an opportunity to buy it almost half the price of the KE ( yup, in Brazil, the KE is about BRL 2.220,00 and I just found an SE for BRL 1.284,00 ) ( about USD 420 the KE and USD 245 for the SE - normally the SE is @ USD 344 ).

I was thinking of build a voron in the not-so-near future, but I think the SE would be good for now to reuse the KE hotend with a steel nozzle for all sorts of filaments and use the new unicorn nozzles on the KE to allow for rapid size change and be worry-free about blob of death on the KE...

I don't really care about the nebula pad, it is very limited in memory anyway ( Using OpenKE on my current setup ). Maybe add a RPI or some other tricky way later as klipper host.

This price is really tempting...

BONUS: I could share many parts; do the linear rail conversion if it improves my KE precision ( the kit just arrived ); and I could share the build plates 😄

Should I go for it? what do you think?

How Often Do You Replace Your Plates

I print often. Not every day, but often. I have had my printer for one year now, and I feel like I have to replace my plates a lot. I am now on my 5th PEI plate. No matter how many times I clean them, they just seem to lose the ability to hold prints.

I have tried upping the plate temp, but then the print warps. I have tried cleaning them after every print and was told that is too often and actually hurts the plate's adhesion.

At this point, I am wondering if I just need to start bulk ordering them from AliExpress or what.

Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated.

First time printing with PETG, layer shift issues

Had the printer for a couple months, it's stock except for a textured pei plate. Decided to try printing in PETG using eSun filament with its default setting in orca. The benchy I printed came out pretty good with just some minor stringing. I attempted to print some socket organizers that snap into a gridfinity base and am having layer shifting problems. I've printed these with PLA before without issues. What could be causing this and what settings do I need to adjust?

Cheap filament, great results

Put my SE to work. Still very happy with results. This was some cheap Hojor 3D filament.

Sonic pad not connecting after swapping from nebula pad

Just swapped from Nebula pad to sonic pad and the setup seemed straight forward until i got to the serial connector

since I have a ender 3 v3 se i have to install firmware via sd card (no usb slot) for this process i needed to get the bin file download from the sonic pad>extract bin from usb stick to sd card> plug back into printer

after this process is done and when prompted i take the cable from my nebula pad (10 pin) and plug into sonic pad to get hit with the error message “printer not ready” could this be to not having the bin on the usb or something else like not having the white 6 pin even though i feel that shouldn’t matter

any troubleshooting or anyone who has done this process from nebula pad to sonic

Bed wobble,

The bearings completely slid out from the bed of my printer, I've put them back in but the bed wobbles, this doesn't feel like it's correct, I've attached a video to show this, is this fixable or do I need to get a replacement?

Blobbing at start of extrusion lines

Just started printing a Raspberry Pi case for homeracker and I’m getting blobs of filament at the beginning of every extrusion. These are being squished out by the nozzle on its next pass and scraping during travel.

Do you think it’s my filament? Fiberology easy PLA at 205°C first layer
