Epistles Mail 2.0 beta is out: email templates, tasks, label management, six new languages, and a lot more

Epistles 2.0 beta is out, and it's our biggest update since launch. Epistles is a privacy-first email client for iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, Windows, Linux and the web. It talks to Gmail, Outlook/Microsoft 365, Fastmail, Proton, Tuta and any IMAP or JMAP server directly from your device. Here are the highlights:
New in 2.0
- Email templates (Pro): save messages you send often, with subject, body and recipients, and start a new email from one in a click.
- Tasks: a full task manager built into Epistles. Turn any email into a task, with reminders, repeats, an Upcoming view by day, and tasks in your calendar. It syncs with Todoist, Any.do and CalDAV task lists (Pro).
- Manage your labels properly (Pro): create, rename and delete labels from the sidebar or Settings without opening a message. A rename reaches every message carrying the label, even mail Epistles hasn't downloaded yet.
- Open .eml and .ics files on every platform: double-click a saved email or a calendar invitation, or tap "Open in Epistles" on a phone. On a computer, an .eml opens in its own reader window, and an .ics lets you add the event to any of your calendars.
- Six more languages: German, Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal). Spell checking also works in several languages at once.
- Star does what Pin used to do: starred mail now waits in a card at the bottom of your inbox until you're done with it, and that works with stars from Gmail, iPhone Mail or any other app. Your pinned messages carry over as starred.
- Mail categories, plus grouping your inbox by sender or domain, with groups you can fold away.
- Calendar upgrades: see when guests are free while you create an event, event colors and categories, reminders a day or a week ahead, and a Join button right in the meeting reminder.
- Rules that do more: apply a rule to mail you already have, and use one rule for many senders.
- A new look: a new app icon (light or dark, your choice), a real Mac theme, a Midnight Black theme, more account colors, and smoother animations throughout.
- Snoozed mail comes back at the top of your inbox, so you actually see it.
- Smaller things people asked for:
- preview your draft on a light or dark background;
- see each account's Sent, Drafts, Archive, Spam and Trash in the unified view;
- act on a whole selection of search results;
- choose how many preview lines the list shows;
- an undo-send countdown;
- hide the unread count on Favorites.
Fixes worth calling out
- IMAP is much more trustworthy:
- When a server refuses a change, Epistles now tells you, instead of showing it as done and quietly undoing it at the next sync.
- Labels now work on Yahoo and other servers that can't store them; Epistles keeps those in your encrypted Cloud Vault.
- Label colors now sync across your devices.
- Faster: Epistles responds sooner in the first minute after you open it, especially with several accounts.
