The FBC Is Falling Apart and I Have So Many Questions

WE JUST CLEANED IT ALL UP.

After watching the recent Control Resonant trailer, I can’t stop thinking about how oddly coincidental everything feels with FBC: Firebreak underperforming and the Oldest House being breached.

From what I remember, there’s even dialogue in Firebreak where the characters talk about how it feels like the team isn’t really making progress, not in some meta sense, but as an actual team dealing with the situation. Then we get this trailer with Arish telling everyone still surviving in the Oldest House that the lockdown has been lifted while basically begging Jesse for help. That is crazy to me.

Especially because Jesse is absent throughout Firebreak, and now she seems to be absent at the beginning of this follow up too. I’m sure it’ll all come together eventually, but it’s wild to think about. The last two games seemed like they were gradually resolving the conflicts inside the Oldest House, and yet somehow everything has apparently gone completely to shit anyway 😭

And what happened to the supporting characters from FBC: Firebreak? Hank and Jerry? Where’s Langston? We know Underhill was technically a temporary worker, the Mold lady, if you didn’t know, now you know, but I really doubt she just packed up and left after the lockdown was lifted. She seemed way too invested in everything happening and like she wanted to become more involved.

Also, Ahti’s absence probably has something to do with his presence in Alan Wake 2. For those who don’t know, there’s secret dialogue from him during the power outage at the Valhalla Nursing Home where he seems to be experiencing some kind of dementia or confusion about being in Bright Falls. Honestly, I found it kind of sad and concerning because we’ve always expected Ahti to be above the powers that be, but he suddenly seems vulnerable. It almost feels like he might actually be subject to the Dark Place somehow, or maybe he’s just genuinely lost.

And if the Hiss apparently isn’t responding to the HRAs anymore, then what the hell is actually protecting everyone exactly?

I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Drop your theories, community. What do you think happened to Jesse, Ahti, the Firebreak crew, and everyone else between the end of the Oldest House lockdown and the beginning of Control Resonant?

💧Water Grenades are Clutch💧

Maybe I'm super late to this, but they are now my favorite grenade. I've saved my fellow FBs from near death many times now, with a well timed throw; at a distance mind you.

Seeing their empty health bar pop back up to full is an awesome feeling. That and you can easily tank the Hiss or just get out of a pinch with a toss at the feet.

Do Not Activate The Elevator

Until everyone is close enough to escape in time. Lately I've been running missions with people who seem to want to rush the mission quick as possible, that includes rushing to call in the elevator.

A timer will set after a certain period, and if everyone doesn't escape, it's a MIA wipe for everyone who wasn't in the elevator when the switch was activated. That means no earned resources and wasted time.

Also, they literally have a sticky note telling you which direction the lever goes to leave. We are still somehow confused by this, and I'm seeing level 100+ who somehow still don't understand the concept.

Up. The lever goes up.

For Those Seeking a Guide

I realize my thread has been up for a year, and I just got to updating it, still a work in progress but if you're new to the game, you'll find a lot of information here for the current version. I try to keep it updated with each update.

Escaped 100 Wave Purgatory

So I haven't played the game in awhile, switched over to PS5, decided to get back into it. For those who want to reach the high waves, I don't recommend it, stop at 40 or less. I got nothing for completing 100 waves (pic says 95, took 100 to officially down them) despite my time and kills, the game says I completed 0 waves and even said my levels were 0.

How did I succeed? The host somehow existed in the game despite not being active, they were immortal. So no matter how many times I died, they couldn't take damage.

It wasn't until I directed the enemies to hit me, which in turn somehow still hit the other player who was and wasn't in the game anymore? Anywho, getting them to down while downing me in the process officially registered the mission as over.

If you're reading this Remedy, you owe me some resources.

Edit: Just to clarify, you must be standing next to the disconnected host, Demolitionists, Sharpeners, and the flying explosive hiss do the best job to injure the host. Just be sure everyone downs before the timer.

References in Resonant

Reckon we'll see any Firebreak stuff in the upcoming Control game? Anything you'd like to see?

I just know that if I see a cameo I'd be so happy. Like if Dylan comes across Hank's tank on the way out of the Oldest House or something. Or if we briefly see Dave on fire. Maybe Dylan unironically enjoyed Threshold Kids, meets Jerry and geeks out.

Just saying, Firebreak easter eggs could be really fun to see.
