Financial aid is a mess

Tutiton is due today and I have to receive the pell grant for the fafsa that was processed in APRIL, have even updated to have my ssn match and name match and wtv else I need and all the responses I've gotten for this is "we never got a fafsa for that year"

Def can't pay the 700 dollars i need by the 6th, I wanna just let the enrollment cancel but I'm unsure if im finna get kicked out since summer 2026 is my starting term

What do I do or am I just cooked

Edit: comments finally loaded so id like to add that I did do noth 25-26 and 26-27 fafsa, they only had 26-27 for me and all calls after that post were something like "yeah we don't see that, but 26-27-"

Edit 2: did this yesterday (July 1st) but I filed for fafsa loans as that seems like the only option atp. Hoping for them to find that too

Looking for friends in the psych department

Am a little embarrassed to be posting this lolol but I'm looking for some friends in the psych department. I'm going into counseling psych and I'm a recent transfer (standing-junior) who's struggling to figure out how to land research/lab opportunities and make the most of my time at FIU. Does anyone else feel like this? Would anyone be interested in making a groupchat where we could pool resources and show each other some support?

Marxism Reading/Discussion Group - The Left is Dead! Long live the Left!

Hello Everyone!

If you are someone who is interesting in the history of the Left and Marxism, The Platypus Affiliated Society has been here on campus for about a few months now. Platypus is self-criticism and self-education of the Left for possibility of emancipatory politics today. We organize readings groups, public fora, research and journalism focused on the problems and tasks inherited from the Left.

This is a 20 year old international, educational organization. We are currently hosting "coffee breaks" on campus every Wednesday at 2 PM in the Barnes & Noble FIU Cafe. Its an informal discussion group where you can come along with any questions or thoughts about the Left or Marxism.

We will be starting our History of the Left reading group in the fall. You can find out more at platypus1917.org

We will be hosting film screenings soon too!

For updates you can check out our instagram, platypus.fiu

Bachelor's UM --> Master's FIU?

Hello guys, so not long ago I graduated with a bachelor's from the University of Miami and decided to stay in Miami. Recently, I have decided that I would like to earn a master's degree as well. I had a scholarship for my bachelor's at UM, but I don't think I could afford a master's there. A friend of mine brought up the idea of maybe going to FIU for my master's instead, and I visited the campus and actually liked the vibe a lot! I was wondering if you or anyone you know attended UM for their bachelor's and then FIU for their master's, and how the experience was. Would you recommend it? Also, is it hard to make friends as a master's student? Thank you.

Federal Work Study Jobs

When is a good time to apply to federal work study jobs for the fall? I see a few uploaded so far but I don't want to apply and commit to one before I know all of my options (mainly because I'm looking for something clinical or research since I'm premed).

Electric Scooters on Campus

Does anyone with an electric scooter find it worth it? I’ve really been considering one after this past year also just because I have a lot of health issues. Is it difficult to park or maneuver and is it way more convenient from getting from building to building??

Is there any way to find/filter specifically 1 credit courses?

I’m trying to find literally just any course that’s worth specifically 1 credit because that’s all I need left coming up in Fall. Does anyone know how I can find these courses in particular? Or does anyone maybe know any 1 credit courses they’re enrolled in that might still be open? Any help is appreciated

Where is this?

Image from ASKIT Support page

Google images

I'm on AskIT Support page, and I can't recognize where this photo was taken. I've mostly been to the MMC campus and only been to the BBC campus. It looks like MMC, but not quite. I'm honestly looking for that gazebo(I know there's one right next to the water for MMC) and trying to figure out if it's AI

accelerated nursing program at FIU or UM

Hi everyone! I am getting ready to apply to accelerated nursing schools and umiami and FIU are my top two. I have one more prerequsite for nursing which is chemistry. UM is giving me the option to do intro to chem or gen chem and FIU says I can do survey of chem or gen chem. I have no chem background. The most I did was back in hs. I really wanted to apply to both of these schools and yes its a no brainer to do gen chem since both will accept it, but I only have this summer to do it as FIU will not accept any prequsites in progress when applying. With that being said, I feel like i have to choose now which school to take off my list. Because fiu will not accept intro, i was thinking of choosing umiami now as my top choice. Is it worth it? for those in the program how did you like it? theres lots of pros and cons since umiami absn is around 43k versus FIU is like 15/16k. I really am not sure what to do and am nervous making the wrong decision. Im thinking of just doing the intro to chem class and not applying to fiu... anyone have advice.
