Interview with new Chervon CEO, Joe Galli

The former head of TTI (2008-2024, Milwaukee, Ryobi) and new CEO of Chervon, Joe Galli, did an interview with former tool user and current influencer Vince from VCG Construction on YouTube.

Despite the underwhelming interviewer prompts, Joe Galli managed to reveal some interesting information and hints on the new direction of Chervon. He clearly believes they will be making waves in the coming months and years, and his track record makes that belief credible.

I hope that Galli and his team choose their online persona partners wisely going forward. I'd like to see them partner with working pros or thoughtful reviewers rather than clickbait factories. Even better, I'd like to see them develop their own media channel like Bosch UK does.

Is the build quality of the new impact drivers knock off quality?

I got the 1/4" hex impact with the ring light on accident when I meant to order the one touch last week, and it feels like a knock off compared to my 4 year old quick eject. I got it verified for warranty, so I know it is real, but the rubber parts have been traded for a more plastic like polymer, and the back of the tool had a crooked sticker when I got the kit. The batteries fit too tight, even on the old impact, and feel like the new plastic on the tool. Also, when I shake it, the impact, something shakes inside, and I dont like that

FX3111A Cut Off Tool Tested

Tools Tested on YouTube (awesome channel) put the new FX3111A cut off tool through the testing gauntlet. Unsurprisingly, it placed at or near the top of the heap in most tests.

With that said, the MSRP is way too expensive at $370 for the kit with one 2.0SL battery. In comparison, the Chervon-made Kobalt KMC 224B-03 is only $99 bare tool. The Kobalt tested well, but it also used the older 8AH UO battery. The Kobalt might perform very similarly to the FLEX when paired with the new Kobalt tabless battery.

What's strange is that the Kobalt (even with the older non-tabless battery) cut rebar much faster than the FLEX in his testing, despite the superior watts out of the FLEX.
