509 Full Size Magazine question

I just purchased a 509 mrd full size from psa a few days ago and was researching magazine options since I live in Colorado. PSA won’t ship the included 17rd mags here and I’ve been having trouble figuring out what options I have for the full size. I’ve seen conflicting information on whether the 15rd mags will work and was hoping I could get some advice on fitment so I can order the proper mags.

509c potential purchase

I'm probably going to be getting a 509c for a new ccw, I want the mrd but I'm tempted with the comp because it's only 100 more. Yay or nay for the comp??

Fn reflex xl failure to feed

Serial number 98xxx
Have put roughly 500 rounds through it with different ammunition types and hollow points, the target ammo seems to be doing okay but the hollow points are struggling, with at least one failure to feed every magazine, im wondering do you think its the extractor? I thought that issue was fixed but mine looks pretty sharp. (Ik the gun is dirty, just came back from shooting)

PSA: Call FN service if you recently made an online request and haven't heard back

I picked up a Reflex a couple weeks ago that suffers from the grouping-way-low issue (and before you blame the shooter, I had the same result lightly-supported, and no such issue with another small 9mm under the same conditions), so I submitted a support request online as FN's website directed. I heard nothing for almost two weeks, so I decided to call today and see what was up (1-800-635-1321), and they responded both immediately and helpfully.

I then asked if phone was just a better way to reach them for service in the future, and the tech I spoke with told me that because FN US just did some sort of switch-over of their electronic systems about two weeks ago (right when I submitted my initial request...) and were busy playing catch-up to get all the kinks worked out, recent e-requests may be falling through the cracks.

Tl;dr: if you recently sent an electronic service request to FN and haven't gotten a timely response, follow up by phone!

Is FN still making the 510 comp?

I’ve had my eyes set on the 510 for my hiking bear gun for a while. With the frame cracking issue and 10mm being snappy the comped 510 was very appealing to me. I did not like the grip of the Glock 20, and the PMM comp is fine but it’s big and requires spending a couple hundred extra rather than just getting the pre-comped gun. I cannot find anywhere online that has had them in stock for months. It seems like FN just quietly discontinued them. I’ve reached out to FN by email twice in the last couple of months, but haven’t gotten a response. If anyone knows anything I’d appreciate any info. Thanks.

Scar 17 Groups

Black hills 168gr was used for the 1.1 MOA grouping fired from the Gen 2 Scar 17

Sellier & Bellot 180gr was used for the 1.8 MOA grouping fired from the legacy scar

Both rifles consistently shot ~1.8-2 MOA, with the black hills consistently performing around 1.1-1.5 MOA

FN509 with SRO stress test

200rnds winchester white box 115gr, no issues

100rnds federal syntech 124gr, no issues

100 rnds federal hst 147gr, no issues

40rnds hornady black 124gr, no issues

25rnds hornady critical defense 115gr, no issues

15rnds sellier and bellot 124gr, no issues

250rnds federal champion fmj 115gr, rounds struck SRO repeatedly with no damage, one malfunction as picutred

will update as i plan to put through some more of what i tested, as well as hornady duty and black, with 250rnds of the monarch zinc coated 115gr. Lots of contentious claims on the 509s performance with an SRO, I wanted to upload somewhere how it performed with specific ammunition. Mine is a 509 midsize tactical, I used a mix of 509 midsize 15rnd, fullsize 17rnd, and the 24rnd extended mags.

Overall, it seems to reliably eject carry ammo, but i want to put that test up to 300rnds before I can confidently claim reliable performance.

I would only by an SRO from somewhere you could return it and exchange for another red dot.

Updated round counts as of 5/16/26, it's easy to tell what ammunition gives problems within the first 20rnds, but i would not consider anything less than 100 reliable. So far, only fed champion has caused any issues, and it was still only a 1/250rnd failure.

What’s this noise?

So I got a 503 in trade for a Derya DY9, and it’s cool, but checking it out, when I pull the trigger and hold, rack the slide, and release my finger to get the trigger to reset, it does, but I’ll move the slide and there’s a click? Even without making it click, the trigger still resets, so it doesn’t seem to be something functional? Any help before I go and shoot it is much appreciated.

FS2000 acquired

Picked up this FS2000 from a trade, any quirks to look out for? Have a couple FN handguns but this is my first rifle manufactured by them. Scored the rifle with the original box, manuals, and magazine. Original fore-end, this pic rail fore end, and the EoTech. Super nice shape. Looking forward to putting a few rounds down range with it. Heard the triggers aren’t that great, but dry firing mine doesn’t seem too bad the couple times I did it.

14 years late but I finally got a 45 tac.

I’d swear when these first came out, I told myself I’m going to pick one up but another gun always somehow came before it. I finally walked into a shop that I’ve gotten pretty lucky at lately and saw it sitting there used for 750. No optic or light but it came home with me nonetheless.

Now on to the other thing I told myself I’m going to get into years ago and start researching cans.
