I’ve never seen this discussed…

I’ve watched Fawlty Towers many many times over the decades, and I’ve seen a lot written about it, but the one thing nobody ever mentions is that Sybil seems to have a friend whose husband beats her up regularly. She talks to her on the phone saying to hold her head back to stop her nose from bleeding, and “I don’t know why she stays with him“. I’ve always found that kind of sad, and nobody ever really brings it up.

Another classic comedy star has sadly passed away

up there with prunelle scales, patricia R. we have now lost penelope keith - Margo from the good life. she was also lucky enough to meet prince philip and the Queen in a special episode of the good life.

The Funniest Single Line in Fawlty Towers?

START YOU VICIOUS B*****D!!!!!

Basil screaming at the car as though it's a person is funny enough. But it's the way he says it that elevates it to greatness. With complete and utter fury!! Nobody could have uttered this line better than Cleese did here. The funniest line in all of comedy imo.
