The Cornell Seven Shows Why Male-Only Spaces Should Be Outlawed
The Cornell Seven controversy has not done anything new. It’s the same national conversation we have every single time.
For some reason, men can’t be trusted to behave correctly when they get together. For some reason, men refuse to stand up to other men. Sure, sometimes when men get together they do things like write the Declaration of Independence—which, if we had a better historical record from that period, I’m pretty sure would have a lot more women attached to its history—but that doesn’t change the pattern we keep seeing.
In response to this controversy, there’s been this thing going around women’s Twitter asking women what they would do if they found a man completely fucked up, barely conscious, or otherwise vulnerable. Every single woman I’ve seen answer the question has said yes, of course she would help him. And I’ve actually been in a situation like that. I was driving and saw someone pass out on the street. I physically couldn’t stop to help them, so I called the police. My first instinct was: is that person physically okay? Do they need medical attention?
But in the Cornell Seven case, you had seven men sexually assaulting a woman while 52 fraternity brothers were around, and apparently the options were either “eh, whatever” or “let’s go join in.”
I’ve said it before on here: women choose the bear because men don’t give a fuck. And until there is a radical change in this behavior, male-only spaces should be illegal. Fraternities should be illegal. At this point, if you have a public or institutional space where a group is overwhelmingly men, there should be cameras. If there are more than two men together in one of these spaces, outside of somebody’s private home, fucking film it. Apparently you all need to be watched because you cannot control yourselves and, just as importantly, cannot be trusted to stop the men around you who don’t.
I know a lot of Red Pill guys are going to respond with, “But men protect women.”
Protect women from who?
Other men.
And I’m sure you’re all also going to claim this is sexism, misandry, whatever. Fine. You want to argue that whatever solution we come up with should protect everybody? Fuck you. Just like when we talk about cops in a racialized way, this is a gendered issue. This shit overwhelmingly happens to women.
And I know what comes next: “Men are underreporting it.” “Nobody takes male victims seriously.” Yes, male victims exist. That does not explain away the gender disparity. On the most basic practical level, it is incredibly difficult for a woman to physically rape an unconscious man in the way we’re talking about here. The anatomy isn’t particularly conducive to getting an unconscious man hard and then having sex with him.
And also: why? I promise you a dildo feels just as fine as a human penis. Women do not have the same drive to dominate and overpower somebody in this way, because rape has very little to do with sexual attraction. It is about degradation. It is about dismissing another person’s humanity. It is about using another human being as an object.
Women do not do these things at anything remotely resembling the scale men do.
So when men tell me that men are necessary because men protect women, I’m going to ask the same question every single time: protect us from who?
Women shouldn’t need men to protect them from men. You should all be able to fucking keep it in your pants.
