So this is just me spitballing ideas or housing around: I literally have no idea if what I'm considering is possible, nor difficulty level.

So what I've got to work with is a 90's-era VCR. I'm aware that gutting the machine, soldering the buttons and display to my RPi and use that as a housing is totally doable. What I'm wondering is what it would take to *also* keep the tape player portion functional and, maybe, use the Pi to digitize VHS tapes. Or would I need to have one Pi working on the FS42 software with another Pi dedicated to the video capture software? Would I be able to solder the optical outputs internally to a Pi, have the Pi do conversion and then solder the Pi-s output to the machines (or maybe easier to just have it go to an HDMI female slot?

Really excited to keep fiddling with this! My wife really wanted us to work together on this with her doing media collection and me doing the tech stuff. Eventually we'll get it on our CRT. Super fun and made me feel like a kid today setting up a new toy. 🤣
