Thoughts on lack of casual fashion pieces based off final fantasy

I feel like tetsuya nomura has so many great designs and attributes he gives to these characters and the possibility for actual good wearable clothing could be endless

But Square Enix doesn’t implement any actual casual clothes and i’m just left with cosplay stuff to work with

I can’t be the only one in this and was wondering if you guys were feeling the same

The Final Dungeon - Lost Materia?

Okay so, I just got party-wiped fighting a weird knight-thing after the party regrouped.

Two questions:

  1. When is the “point of no return” on using the save crystal? When the party reunited, the save crystal was greyed out in my inventory. I moved around a bunch, but it never became usable

  2. When the party split up, my “mains” (Tifa and Red XIII ) left me, and their Materia was put in my inventory. I got Vincent and Cait, and thought, okay cool! I’ll just give them the Materia, and then when the party regroups, I’ll get it back!

…that didn’t happen. The party regrouped, and I was given the option to put Tifa and R13 back in the party, but Vince and Cait still had my mainstay materia (including my major healing mats).

That led to me getting squashed as I was desperately looking for a place to use the Save Crystal.

So….what am I supposed to do here? I haven’t decided if I want to restart the entire dungeon again, but if I do, I want to make sure this doesn’t happen again.

Does any version have a UI that properly maps the buttons properly?

So I've been trying to play FFVII on steam (the 2013 port to be specific) but the UI still has the OG Playstation 1 buttons in the menus and such and it keep tripping me up. I know Steam rereleased a port and I know there's also a port for the Switch of the original game. I'm wondering if there's a version of the game that is playable with a UI that is properly mapped to the controller I would be using. Thank you in advance!

Jenova might be a WEAPON

I don't know if Max or any other theory crafters have touched on this, but I have a theory that Jenova may be a WEAPON from another planet. I mean Gaia, the planet we adventure on, made the WEAPONs we do know, being Ruby, Emerald, Diamond, Omega, and Ultimate Weapon. So say there was another planet that had one of those self-destructive stories and their WEAPON (Jenova) took their version of the lifestream and looked for another home but something they did corrupted either Jenova or the lifestream they absorbed and rather than being a peaceful alien she was turned into this disfigured, misshaped, and lost being that became possibly resentful or something and now goes planet to planet destroying the worlds and either absorbing their planets life force or just letting it wither away. Also, from what I've read, they (The WEAPONS) were made during the original conflict with Jenova, and since the Ancients were able to communicate directly with the planet, is it possible Gaia basically gave them the blueprint to fend of Jenova as a big red button kind of situation? if anyone has any thoughts or evidence to support/counter I'd love to hear them!

Chapter 3.

Hi,

I am a long time final fantasy fan!!!!

I remember the days when the og released and subsequent final fantasies released after that.

I was younger, it was colder, winters we had where im from always seemed to be snowing back then and at that moment when you held your hard copy in hands for the first time was just so meaningful.

Well im feeling a sense of anticipation for this third and final chapter, a sense of excitement if you will,

for probably what is the best game I've played ff7 the game that gave enough story that left enough room for the imagination, enough turn based battles to leave an embedded tune into one's being that we can still hear when we think of it the tune of Victory Fanfare.

I very rarely make posts but I felt I needed to , and well this is as good a place as any , so here I go. I wanna give my 10p on what the name should be for chapter 3.

As Connor MacLeod once said "In the end, there can be only one."

Final Fantasy Resolution

Why it fits

The Final Part: It refers to the concluding section of a story or final chapter where the plot points come together.

Full Reveal: This is where hidden motives, conflicts, and mysteries are fully exposed and explained.

Complete Story: It shows that the narrative journey has achieved closure and is now complete

Resolution means the official settling of a problem, dispute, or story plot.

I see no other option that makes more sense than this one.

Any thoughts of something more fitting and not because it just sounds cool?

Thanks Nerds.

Random question

So I just beat FF7! Super happy with myself, and now I have FF7 brainworms. I was walking around Boston a few days ago and got to thinking, I wonder if Midgar has any ethnic pockets in the way that real life megacities have? Like, I was walking around Chinatown, wondering if Midgar would have a "Wutai-town" of people from Wutai or an area mostly dominated by immigrants from the Gongaga area. I was wondering if this is ever brought up in any extra-canon material like a novel or spinoff, or if it is maybe in the remakes? Or if this has never been explored by the writers?

When to play Crisis Core - Reunion

I am completely new to the FF series, and recently bought FFVII Remake Intergrade. I am absolutely in love with it, and plan to finish it in the upcoming week or so, and have pre-ordered Rebirth for my Switch 2 which should arrive in June. I’ve also purchased Crisis Core - Reunion for switch (shoutout Best Buy, just $15).

Which brings me to my question, when should I play crisis core reunion? My understanding is that it happens years before the events of the original game and remake trilogy, but I didn’t know what the best way to sequence things.

Apologies if this is asked frequently, I did a cursory search and didn’t find an answer. FWIW I do plan to pick up the original and play it at some point whenever it goes on sale next.

I'm rlly having a bad time here

The game is fun, but I'm hating how bad designed the side quests are, everything is missable and there's no indication of when I can get it or if I've already lost it, I've lost my count of how many times I had to reset a save or retry one or two chapters just to get a single achievement.

Right now I'm at Chapter 6 and there's an achievement abt completing all Hojo's experiments, but I just discovered that I must talk to an NPC that only appears at the chapter 3, but now I can't just reset the save, I must restart the game from the beginning, and it's destroying all the fun

And i am following guides, I am searching for what I need to do, but there's always something that shows out of nowhere and it's lost, I'm almost thinking about dropping it. Can someone please recommend me a detailed guide for everything that's missable?

Just beat FF7, can someone explain all the Final Fantasy 7 spin offs?

I just beat the og Final Fantasy 7 for the first time (absolutley amazing!) And I just discovered there's a bunch of FF7 media spin offs so now I'm interested in exploring that since I enjoyed FF7.

So I'm wondering what's all included and what's worth experiencing or skipping? And please do release order or the way it's intended to be experienced. Thanks.

Gosh dang this game was really something

Maybe my new favorite single player game of all time now. Not sure

Thank ffviR for motivating me to play the original.

Looking for a Completionist Guide for FF7

Hello everyone!

I am a completionist by nature and, after beating the Pixel Remasters, I am ready to tackle the PS4 port of FF7.

I am looking for an easy to follow guide that fits the bill. Even better if it clearly flags missables.

For reference, I consider a completionist run to include:

- Completion of all side quests and optional objectives (such as purchasing the villa, chocobo racing etc)

- Obtaining at least 1 of every item / weapon / armour / accessory etc

- Reach max level on all characters, skills, materia etc.

- Obtaining all PS4 trophies.

I know the Steve guide is the bible for this game, but the formatting hurts my eyes, and I find it to be almost too detailed and step by step for my tastes.

Any advice is greatly appreciated :)

Series replay

Maybe due to my lack of current new games and the possible impeding announcement of remake part 3 I’ve decided to do a full series replay.

I’m now towards to end of Remake and then I play to do a full replay of the OG. Then Crisis Core and topped off by a Rebirth replay where I 100% it again (outside of hard mode.) it’ll be a fun month+ of just being in this world again.

Overworld Secrets?

Are there overworld secrets in FFVII like there are in FFVIII?

FFVIII has secret draw points, islands with powerful monsters and some secret interactions like the aliens and the lake monster.

With FFVII I only know about Yuffie, are there other secrets like that?

Partway through Rebirth, pausing to play OG (which version) ?

I was new to the series, finished Remake on PS5 Pro and had a blast ! Didn't do Intermission.

I'm now 40 hours into Rebirth and only just started chapter 7 (leaving Costa Del Sol). It's great but taking forever ! I'm a bit of a completionist, but the Chadley quests are getting repetitive tbh. I don't have unlimited time to play. So my curiosity for OG is resurfacing as it's supposed to be a tighter story...

I had briefly tried it a few times but couldn't go past the dated graphics. I'm mid-40s but didn't play it in 1997, and in my opinion this era of 3D models has not aged very well (I love the 2D backgrounds though). Don't hate on me, but I think the Remake games are probably everything the OG developers would have dreamed of making the first time if they could, from a technical PoV but also in terms of taking more time to flesh out the characters and cutscenes (not so sure about gameplay : some parts are too grindy compared to OG)

Last night I gave OG another chance on Switch and ended up playing ~3 hours ! I couldn't believe how far I went compared to Remake : to the train graveyard basically. The sector 6 tunnel took like 5 minutes, same for the sewers (perfect, they were unnecessarily long chapters in Remake) ! Wall Market was over in like 30 minutes (disappointing, too short IMO).

I'm here for the story, so the QoL improvements + boosters on Switch are a godsend.I don't love the blurry pixel art though, and the boosters icons on the side are a bit distracting.

I also have the 2013/2026 Steam/GOG versions so I'm wondering if I should start again with some light graphics mods ? A complete overhaul makes no sense to me, there's Remake for that. It must still feel OG. Which ones would you go for ?

Also I've read that 7th Heaven/FFNx actually always use the 2013 engine and disable the 2026 QoL/boosters. Does it have mods with equivalent features ? Otherwise that would be a dealbreaker to me.

▲ 46 r/FinalFantasyVII+10 crossposts

I'm a solo dev and I've been building a daily video game trivia game called Skill Check. Every 24 hours it picks a different gaming franchise and gives players a themed run of trivia questions. Today the theme is Dragon Quest 11, and since this sub is where the real Dragon Quest fans gather, I thought I'd share it here.

How it works: You get a hand of cards themed around the game. You work through three stages of trivia mixing questions about NPCs, lore, weapons, locations, and game mechanics. Between rounds there's a shop where you can pick upgrades. At the end you get a score, a rank, and a spot on a global leaderboard that resets when the next daily drops.

It takes about 5 minutes to play a full run. Free, browser-based, works on mobile and desktop: https://skillcheckgame.com

No account needed to play, but if you make a free one your score posts to the leaderboard and your streak tracks across days.

Why I'm posting here: I want honest feedback from people who know Dragon Quest inside and out. My biggest worry is that questions might feel "too easy," have obvious wrong answers to veterans of the game, or accidentally mess up the deep lore. If you spot a question that's factually wrong, has a weak distractor, or just feels off, please call it out in the comments so I can get it fixed.

I had a similar response on other gaming subs recently and the feedback was incredibly useful for refining the game.

What I'm NOT trying to do: sell you anything. Skill Check is fully free. There's an optional one-time supporter tip but everything is playable without it.

If you beat my score today I'll be impressed post your results in the comments if you want to share, or let me know which question tripped you up the most.
