Room available in SW Portland — ~$700–800/mo — Sept 2026 move-in

Hey! I’m moving out, so my room in a shared house in SW Portland will be available anytime after August 31.

The house is a spacious three-story home about a 5-minute walk from Elephant’s Delicatessen on Macadam Ave, and around 20 minutes by bus / 10 minutes by car to Lewis & Clark College.

Rent: ~$700–800/month
Utilities: ~$170/person/month
Lease: Sept. 2026–Aug. 2027, with option to renew
Parking: Free street parking
Pets: No pets
Smoking/vaping: Outside only

The common areas are already fully furnished, and the bedroom can come with a comfortable bed/mattress, so you wouldn’t need much to move in. There’s also a large laundry room and plenty of storage.

The housemates

You’d be living with three people in their early 20s, all connected to Lewis & Clark College.

Everyone is friendly, busy, and pretty laid-back. People mostly do their own thing, but there’s also casual chatting, cooking, baking, gaming, and hanging out when schedules line up.

It’s not a party house. Small get-togethers are fine, but things usually quiet down around 10 PM.

You’d share a smaller bathroom and the second floor with one person, and share the second-floor kitchen/common spaces with two people. There’s also another kitchen downstairs.

Looking for

Someone in their 20s who is:

  • Responsible and reliable with rent
  • Tidy and considerate in shared spaces
  • Communicative
  • Comfortable in a relatively quiet, laid-back household

The house is queer-friendly, neurodivergent-friendly, and 420-friendly. The household tends to be most comfortable with women/AFAB housemates, but finding someone who genuinely fits the household dynamic is the biggest priority.

For transparency, the household is also strongly anti-Trump, and living with a Trump supporter would not be a compatible fit.

If you’re interested, DM me or leave a comment. I’m happy to answer questions, send photos, or connect you directly with the current roommates.

Feel free to share with anyone looking for a place!

Anyone in Portland ready to start over?

This might be a little unconventional, but I figured I’d put it out there.

Is there anyone in the Portland area who is at the point where you’re ready to walk away from an unhappy domestic partnership/relationship and start over, but the financial reality of living alone makes it feel impossible?

I’m in that position. I work full-time, can reliably pay half the rent, utilities, normal household expenses, and I’m wondering if there’s someone else out there thinking, “I could leave if I just had a safe, normal person to split the bills with.”

I’m not looking to jump immediately into a lease with a stranger. I’d want to meet, get to know each other, talk about finances, pets, lifestyles, boundaries, expectations, etc., and make sure we were genuinely compatible as roommates.

Mostly, I’m looking for a peaceful fresh start, and wondering if someone else in Portland might be looking for the same thing.

If this sounds like you, feel free to message me. We can just talk at first. No pressure or commitment.

21F looking to find someone who needs a roommate

I live in Florida

I’m currently a university student who’s graduating next year round summer and I need a place to live after graduation. I can’t live in my current living conditions because it has become extremely toxic. Right now what’s keeping me going is my faith and the goal to leave soon.

I’m Christian and I have 1 small cat. I’m a content creator and artist, so currently I work from home. But I’m set to have a job soon. I have my own car so transportation is not an issue. I’m willing to move anywhere tbh. the max I can afford is $1100 split costs including amenity fees.

I clean up after myself well, I don’t cook but Im used to ordering enough food to share, I’m financially responsible, and I am considerate of my surroundings. I don’t mind adjusting my habits to make your life easier, but I’m very adamant about my faith, so please don’t ask for me to not do things expected of a Christian lifestyle and I won’t impede on your beliefs either.

im communicative so if something bothers you, please don’t hesitate to let me know and of course I will do the same. I tend to sing and hum throughout the day (which ofc I do quietly) and I stream on twitch sometimes. I play video games as well, so if you’re looking for someone to have good convo while playing coop, I’m your girl!

I do prefer to live with another woman, but I don’t mind living with a man as long as you can respect that I do have a sexual assault history.

I’m an introvert so I don’t go out much and I’m not one to bring people over to the apartment often, but if you like bringing your friends, that’s fine with me! as long as I’m notified ahead of time.

that’s all I can think of right now. if you have any questions, I'm happy to answer them either via dm or through this post’s thread.

[SE Portland] Looking for a roommate, $1150/mo (utilities included)

Hi! I (32M) am looking for a roommate to join the lease for my Sellwood apartment. It’s located on the first floor of a 2-family house. You’d have your own room (9'8" x 10'6", furnished with a full-sized bed and a dresser and with two closets), plus access to a shared kitchen, bathroom, dining, and living room. I didn’t include photos of the dining room since it’s a little lived-in at the moment, but there is additional shared space beyond what’s pictured—the dining room has a counter with stools, bookshelves, but not much else. Probably need some more furniture in there, like a table 😅

There is a washer and dryer in the semi-finished basement for our unit. The other side of the basement (about 11' × 30', or 330 sq ft) is also yours for storage/personal use. The house has a wrap-around porch and a side garden to enjoy. Street parking is available right in front of the entrance, and there’s a 1-car garage for storing stuff (e.g., bikes). The house is also within walking distance (5-15 minutes) of shops, restaurants, a New Seasons grocery store, and the Springwater Corridor bike path. The 40 and 70 bus lines are about 5 blocks away.

The lease runs from September 2026 through June 2027, and rent will be $1,150/month (utilities included). No smoking/vaping inside, and no pets are permitted on the lease. I work from home 1-2x per week from a desk in the corner of the dining room. I’m comfortable with someone using the common areas while I’m working, and most of the time my work is pretty quiet anyway. I occasionally have calls, so I’d hope we can be considerate of each other’s noise levels. On rare on-call days (about 1-2x per month), I could be on the phone quite a bit more. I’m also open to moving the desk to my bedroom; we can figure out the furniture arrangement together. I also have celiac disease, so I’d need a roommate to be conscientious about kitchen cleanliness and cross-contamination. You don't need to be gluten-free, but I'd need a roommate who's comfortable being careful about keeping shared kitchen surfaces and utensils clean.

About me: I'm clean, quiet, friendly, and fairly new to Portland. I enjoy biking, hiking, indie music, board games, rock climbing, and football. I am a scientist who works in public health. I also travel fairly regularly for work, so I'm not always around. When I am home, I prefer to keep it as my recharge spot and socialize outside of the house. I’m looking for someone who is OK with living in a quieter home and is communicative, respectful, and clean.

If you're interested, send me a little about yourself and your desired move in.

tldr:

  • Room size: 9’8”x10’6”
  • Rent: $1150/mo (utilities included)
  • Neighborhood: Sellwood
  • Ideal Move Date: 9/1/26
  • Lease Length: 9-month
  • Pets?: Not allowed on lease unfortunately
  • Parking?: Yes, street parking
  • Other requirements?: No smoking/vaping inside

Edit: Adding photos of the living room and dining area to this Imgur gallery!

Looking for One Good Opportunity to Start Over in Oregon

Hello there I am 35 year old male. My name is Salem. I am in Denver. I have a reliable vehicle. I used to live in Oregon years ago and I loved it. For some reason, I feel kinda depressed here in Denver. Maybe it's the lack of green space. Anyways, I am desperately am trying to get back and start fresh. My life is a mess and I found myself living in the car again, as of two weeks ago. So I am thinking to myself. What do I have to lose in making a long trip back to Oregon and starting fresh?

I would feel more motivated in making this trip if I can secure a room before I leave. I know that will be difficult. My depression is at the maximum now since I am in the car and I don't want to be in the car no more. I don't have much money but I have about 8K saved up. I will be looking for a job and I am attending online community college. I am trying to turn my life around completely. I am clean, will be responsible with the room, a bit religious (but I promise you I don't judge anyone and I will never impose absolutely anything of my beliefs of anyone), won't have any guests over, and I don't steal anything at all.If anyone can understand my situation and is willing to give someone who’s genuinely trying to rebuild his life a chance, I would truly appreciate it.

Looking to be a roommate!

Im struggling financially to keep up with renting a studio apartment(1200 ish currently). I can’t seem to find any cheaper apartments and because of the current struggle, I also can’t really afford a deposit-not one equivalent to rent but could maybe swing a much smaller one.

I’m looking to see if there’s a room for rent in NE near pcc Cascade or anywhere inner east side. Or anywhere inner SW/NW. Very open to location as long as I’m able to connect with a bus stop.
(I’m a pcc student and I work weekends in nw)

A little about me(27 NB);
I spend most of my time on little crafts or reading or rewatching trash 2000s sitcoms. I like wandering around the local parks with my instrument to practice outside. Also enjoy getting to the river with my paddle board when I can. During the last year I’ve quit smoking cigs and drinking, though I don’t mind being around folks that do. I’m an extroverted introvert sorta. Around people I can get chatty and I like group river days or outings but at home I’m pretty quiet. I’m a military veteran who deeply dislikes the government and cares about community organizing. Currently working on my nursing school pre-requisites I’ve been living in a studio so I have just a few pieces of furniture(a rooms worth).

Ideally I could find similarly private but friendly folks who have the space, access to bus routes, and ability to forgo a huge deposit. Maybe take over a room in an already established house. I would like to spend under 800 a month with utilities.

Let me know if you have anything available, thank you!

35 (He/They) with 1 cat looking for roommate in Portland proper (Goose Hollow)

Hiya!

My roommate has paid until the end of the month but is moving out of the place this coming Wednesday so the space will be available to view either virtually or in person. The 2 people I was in talks with have backed out with under 30 days left to find a roommate, I am stressin.

Rent is 2k/month split in half not including utilities. Usually is around 1200/1300 after/person. A gated garage parking spot can be added for an additional 135/month I believe.

The room is the "master bedroom" in a 2-story townhome style apartment with a private bathroom (only standing shower). I'm pretty sure it's 10x10 (actually measured it's 10x13). The complex is called "Goose Hollow Townhomes" and is right by a max stop on 18th ave behind the Timbers Stadium.

I have one 9-year-old boy cat who is very vocal about wanting attention and will probably want to hang out with you. He is typically good with other cats but is very playful.

I am a huge tabletop gamer and a 3d printer for both hobby and commission so there is a big library of boardgames and Warhammer stuff around. I also have about 8k movies on a server that can be accessed anywhere on the internet in the apartment and the whole place minus the room is furnished. (Roommate is potentially leaving a Full-size bed behind.

For any other info, reply or DM me here or on Instagram at ComboReversal

Thanks for lookin!

So im looking for a roommate it would be 570 a month I pay the other 570 for 1140 a month, I pay for internet and utilities.

Im a down to earth dad who just wants to enjoy my hobbies and be a dad.

I want a roommate who can keep a job and doesn't bring drama, I dont drink and id rather you dont, but if you do just dont be an angry drunk.

No smoking inside, I smoke tobacco and weed.

No animals unless you have a certificate saying they are your support animal in some way, and you will need to pay the animal deposit.

The apartment complex does expections so while I dont expect a spotless apartment we have to keep it clean.

Im in tough spot, and if you pay 1000 this month you will not pay anything next month, on the third month we will both pay rent correctly.

Im willing to answer any questions.
