Nice Old Poor Guy Needs a Home

I need a place to live, but my income, while steady, is much lower than the rent in most of the possibilities in the Portland Metro area.

I'm a retired writer/artist/crafter.  I'm quiet, somewhat introverted, with a prominent sense of humor.  I'm a gender-nonconforming male who is tolerant and accepting of others.  Kindness and compassion should be the goal of everyone.  I'm experienced with home repairs, and organic gardening.  I am open to a certain amount of non-strenuous work in exchange for rent or partial rent.

I would appreciate any leads you have.  (I think I've tried pretty much all the agencies and low-income resources.)  Trying to think outside of the box, as you can see.

Trans girl looking to rent room w/ private bathroom DT or near DT PDX

Hi, I’m a responsible ts girl, I live on my own currently in a 1 bed 1 bathroom apartment on the south waterfront. I absolutely love my own space, but looking to save some money…I’m looking to rent a room with its own private bathroom from a STRAIGHT man for $600 - $800 a month. I cook, I clean, I’m organized. I prefer to find a place downtown Portland due to me working on the south waterfront and not driving, though I’m open to nearby surrounding areas. I take public transit and uber everywhere. Please message me if you have something available, and send me pics of the room and bathroom. Feel free to ask me any questions. Im not desperate to move out I’m just curious to see what’s out there? I’m on a month to month lease and have lived here for almost 3 years now.

Large Room Available in St John’s!

Hi! I have a large room available! Great for a couple or individual. Pet friendly but I have two cats already (lease allows two pets). Decent closet space. Living room is fully furnished. $900/mo. The rent listed includes all utilities including monthly internet and electric. I use Flex so rent is also split — first half rent and utilities on the 1st, and the second half of rent halfway through the month. So you don’t have to have everything all at once.
Located five minutes from Vancouver, 15 to 20 minutes to everything else in PDX, and in a nice little neighborhood. The apartment complex has a variety of people, all very nice. There is parking off street, or the option to pay for a spot $50/mo in the apartment lot. 24/7 laundry with brand new machines. There’s a tiny pool too. Very close to several parks including Cathedral Park.

URGENT: Does anyone have a spare room that they are looking/willing to rent for 1-3 months @ a reasonable price (starting this Thursday, May 14th)?

Hi Everyone. I’m new to Reddit and this is my first time posting. A friend of mine (who’s a long time Reddit user) suggested I try looking here for help. He believes the Reddit community is naturally helpful, generous and resourceful enough to help me where traditional resources have failed.

So here is a little about myself and my situation (he said to quickly give an overview in case people only had time to briefly skim over the key details):

# ABOUT ME:

\- My name is Sean.
\- I’m in my mid-60’s and I am active and stay very busy during the day.
\- I just started a job doing on-call front desk work at medical buildings.
\- I am easy-going and easy to get along with.
\- I am respectful of people’s boundaries and personal space.
\- I have a 13 lbs. grey cat (see picture) named Maude who stays inside and wouldn’t leave my room (she gets along with other cats and dogs).

# MY SITUATION:

\- I desperately need a room to rent for 1-3 months (that I can move into this Thursday, May 14th).
\- I was set to move into a rent-controlled apartment at the start of this month, then the DHS program I applied through lost its funding and was terminated.
\- My current landlord gave me an extra 2 weeks in my current apartment (which ends on 5/14)
\- I have money saved and I work so I’m obviously willing ace able to pay rent (even if it’s higher, or much higher than my rent control unit would’ve cost)
\- I am have a new Case Manager in a new program now and they’ll have a new place for me within 3 months.
\- I have a storage unit and would bring VERY few items with me
\- I use public transportation and don’t currently have a car (and don’t want one).
\- I actually enjoy the bus/max rides so don’t worry I won’t ever ask you for rides.

NOTE: I really could make just about anything work at this point. I just need to have a room where I can sleep, that I can also keep my cat in with me (during the day when I’m gone). I won’t be in the house much at all, as I’m out and about most of the day working and running errands.

Thank you for taking the time to read this! I *would really appreciate the opportunity to meet you in the next 3 days and see if we would get along well* and could possibly work something out.

**Please message me through the Reddit App if you have something that you think would work. from there, I’ll be happy to give my phone number and contact information to anyone who has a serious opportunity.**

Looking for a room

I'm looking for a room in Portland, Hillsboro or Beaverton area that I can access transit (I have a car but only want to use it if i absolutely have to:Need a new car eventually). I'm looking for a place in exchange to do chores or handy work around property. I have some medical things going on and needing an opportunity to get myself back on my feet. After a year I could arrange to pay "x" amount a month or I would move on with a new opportunity (goal is to get a place of my own). Unless the situation was still ideal for both of us to continue with arrangements.

I'm quite person, so I do not party but if you do, that's not a problem. I'm not a 420 participant but if you are, I'm not bothered. I'm a single lesbian, so hopefully staying with someone who has an open mind, but understands we may have different point of views. I have been single for 3 years and have no desire to have any kind of company over. I have no children but I helped raised my brothers so I do love children. My dog passed away last year, so no pets but I could help watch yours, no problem, if you needed to leave town.

I do not have a specific time in mind but would like to give some kind of notice where im currently living. Im just seeing if there are any opportunities close to what im needing.

If you have questions, please just message me.

Thank you for reading this.
