Hello everyone,

First time posting here so, sorry if the post doesn’t follow the community typical format or theme.

I’ve been listening to FFDP for the best part of the last decade and I’ve seen them live a couple of times.

Then I started noticing questionable album and merch art verging towards AI slop looking imagery. Then the official videos coming start to finish out of a slop factory. Then lyrics and audio making me wonder if the band I loved listening to is gone for good.

Does anybody know if the band (or any of the member individually) has taken any stance, about the topic? If they’ve been questioned about it or if it has been addressed by them or to them in any capacity?

Hi, my name‘s Michelle. I have a question regarding 5FDP.

I myself do not listen to metal. I’m more of a kpop girly. My boyfriend‘s a metalhead tho and 5FDP is his favorite group. We are both liberals and I say that because I think that it is an important piece of information.
I was never into metal, mostly because of its infamous screaming. I don’t know why but I am afraid of men screaming and acting in an aggressive way. Might be because I got se*ually assaulted by a male family member of mine but that’s beside the point. I like some metal songs when they’re „softer“ or when they simply don’t scream.
I really like mythical kitchen and their last meal interviews. A couple of days ago I stumbled upon Cory’s interview (Slipknot). I knew about Slipknot because my sister used to listen to metal but that was only a phase and because of my boyfriend being a metalhead. He doesn’t really listen to Slipknot, but he definitely knows them and that’s why I came across some of their songs.
So I was watching this interview and then all of a sudden my YouTube algorithm decided to show me all of those metal videos. Some of them are really cool and interesting. Despite not being a fan of the music genre I appreciate their hard work and loyalty to the art.
What really surprise me tho, is that in a lot of metal videos they very rarely talk about 5FDP and I never understood it because looking at their streaming numbers, they should be quite popular but absolutely no one was ever mentioning them.
So I started digging and found out, that apparently a lot of Americans and people in general think that they are a right winged and a conservative band? And now comes my question. Why do people think that?
Here is what I believe. They are a military, veteran, army based group that sings about patriotism, soldiers, veterans and how they deal with PTSD and homelessness. I wouldn’t necessarily consider that as being conservative or right winged. I never watched any of their interview so I don’t know if some of them are Maga or not, but I don’t believe that simply being a patriot or wanting to spark awareness about how veterans are treated, especially in America, is conservative or right winged.
Can someone please help me to understand why so many people, not just in America but also internationally, believe that 5FDP is a conservative metal band 🫣🤷🏼‍♀️?!

Will they be making new albums after this one? If so, any thoughts on when? I know there's at least 20 songs left in the vault just after these ones.

I get why people make fun of FFDP’s lyrics but I think people mistake their unsubtle aesthetic for having no subtext. A lot of their songs have more going on.

Like I saw people mock Shelter for lines like “if it all burns down… we can remake it in Hollywood” and “we can rebuild it in Disney World,” but I actually think that’s a bit clever. Hollywood remakes, and Disney rebuilds, all sorts of catastrophes into sanitized, commercialized and artificial versions

Same with “all I see are robots, goblins and creeps”. I read robots as things like AI, goblins as greed and people hoarding wealth and power, and creeps as predatory people. Like “creeps” doesn't literally mean Epstein but those are the kinds of associations I make that are very poignant and with the time.

Like the lyrics are melodramatic, blunt and often corny, and that’s part of what I like about them. I just think there’s a difference between corny and stupid. Like some things are actually clever.

Sometimes they are just stupid though.

I know that Remember everything is a main one but at the show a couple nights ago he said there’s a list he won’t perform anymore due to past trauma from his addiction. Does anyone know some of the others on that list.

For me, it was definitely Jekyll and Hyde song(before I found the rest of their discography).

I guess as a bonus question, what was that first 5FDP concert like for you? I’ve never been to a show(I’m broke), but maybe one day will.

Saw them in Montreal last week, and it was probably one of the worst show i've seen...

Filled wit AI slop at a point that is was ridiculous and lazy.

There was Light Shows on screen made by Ai but barely in the actual show?

Lyrics on screen that Ivan sings with heavy delay, changes lyrics or even stop singing for some reasons?

Ivan really doesn't sing similarly to what he does on their album.

The stadium was quite empty, never seen anything like it before (been there 10+ times)

Eva Under Fire was good but there was so few people that the enerfy wasn't there enough, sucks because they were good!

I agree that Cody Jinks was ok, not my music at all but I can tell that they were good at what they were doing.

I've listened to 5FDP for years and and like their previous album even when I found it cringe to make AI music video, it left a taste of "we don't care about our art " in my mouth. But that show just proved me that I'm done with this band.

I hate they have a country music opener

The first 6 songs are actually REALLY GOOD and gave me the impression the band was back on track. It opens with 2 back to back heavy cuts, Nails sounds different from anything they’ve done imo, In Time is a top tier ballad and Unscathed sounds straight out of American Capitalist. Then the album IMO just shits the bed with 4 boring ass songs to close it out. I fight to find a single redeeming quality with Everybody Lies and the other 3 I can’t even remember even after 5-6 listens. The fact they had about 30 song ideas and couldn’t find anything better is concerning that they just lack inspiration now or maybe it’s just me??? Idk.

Also, I just want to preface that just because a song is ranked at the bottom doesn’t mean I dislike it. In fact, I like a majority of their songs, so keep that in mind.

Has anyone else bought the VIP Package only to find the merch sent was kinda disappointing? I spent well over 1.5k on VIP tickets and we finally got the merch shipped home and tbh it genuinely devastating. I was hoping for at least some clothing, or a signed item, and maybe some small stuff but guess not.

Can I just say; the first time I listened to it, I burst out laughing at "Fuck you" at the very end. 🤣
