900 Mbps Internet Plan, Only Getting 500 Mbps

When I run a speed test, I get over 300 Mbps on Wi-Fi and around 500 Mbps over Ethernet, even though I'm paying for a 900 Mbps plan.

How can I get the full 900 Mbps over Ethernet? I was originally on the 500 Mbps plan and upgraded to the 900 Mbps plan about three months ago, if that makes any difference.

How to escalate/resolve technical issues?

Spent hours this week talking to support.

We got to the escalation step 4 times. There is no ticket online. People give me random troubleshooting steps or made up explanations or excuses.

No resolution.

Cannot make international calls to China

Each time I try to make any calls to China, I would get "call failed". It used to be fine until 2 weeks ago and Fizz hasn't been able to resolve the issue. Anyone else have this problem? I'm considering switching providers at this point.

Activate Fizz eSIM in China

I just wanted to share my experience in case it helps someone else.

I successfully activated my Fizz eSIM while I was in China.

Here's what I did:

  • Connected to a local Wi-Fi network in China.
  • Used a VPN during the activation process.
  • Installed the eSIM without any issues.
  • No SMS verification code was required.

However, after the installation, my phone couldn't connect to the Fizz network. I restarted the phone as suggested by customer support, but it still didn't work.

I contacted Fizz support through the online chat. The agent said they could fix it from their side. After they made some changes in the backend, my phone connected to the network almost immediately, and everything started working normally.

The entire process took about 30 minutes.

So, if your eSIM installs successfully but won't connect to the network, don't panic. It may not be a problem with your phone. Contact Fizz support and ask them to check your eSIM provisioning on their end.

Hopefully this helps someone in the same situation!

FIZZ is almost the best cell company

When Fizz gets RCS and Wi-Fi calling, it's going to be the number one cell operator in Canada. Network is great compared to others

Is it possible to buy a ''preloved phone'' without a plan?

Is it possible to buy a ''preloved phone'' without a plan?

Might consider buying a Samsung preloved phone to keep as a spare, but it appears it is only possible to buy with a new plan or current plan? Is there any way to buy it without a plan? Thx.

Fizz referral bonus — can I switch to a <$20 plan after the first month and still get it?

Hi everyone,

I just transferred from Fido to Fizz, and I’m trying to understand how the Fizz referral bonus works in practice.

If a new member signs up with a plan that is at least $20/month, but then switches to a $10/month plan after the first month, would the referral bonus still be paid after the second month?

I saw that the FAQ says the new member’s monthly plan must be at least $20 before taxes and after discounts, but I’m not sure whether this requirement only applies at sign-up, or also when the bonus is released after the second month.

Has anyone actually tried this? For example:

  • Month 1: $20+ plan
  • Month 2: switched to $10 plan
  • Did the referral bonus still get applied, or was it cancelled/not released?

Thanks!

Fizz is running a Quebec-only $40 referral promo

Fizz is currently showing a $40 referral-code discount on its Quebec site, with the offer listed as available until July 7.

For Quebec users: sign up with a referral code and save $40, while still getting Fizz’s usual prepaid-style features like no commitment, no activation fee, and flexible plans.

Before switching, check the province selector, the checkout page and the final monthly price.

Confusion from Fizz: $25 or $40 referral bonus?

In Québec, the referral bonus is currently $40.

But in the rest of Canada?

Depending on where you click, you will see $40 or $25. Which is it?

Their Web site is managed by teenagers.

Referral increase to 40$ for Quebec until july 7

Normally Referral for Quebec is only 25$, but now until july 7 the bonus is 40$ like the rest of the Canada, yeah

Not sure if I used referral code when I signed up

I can't remember if I signed up originally using a referral code. No one referred me so I can't remember if I picked some random person just to get my own referral bonus.

How do I check this, and if I didn't, is it too late now that my account is already active? I haven't subscribed yet. I signed up to get a deal at the time but missed it.

New price for AB / BC /ON

As usually this applies only if you change the plan, or you create a new one

When is the next Fizz Internet promotion?

Anybody know when is Fizz's next internet promotion?

Looking to sign-up for the 30Mbps or 400Mbps, but price is a bit high right now. Not sure when the last promotion was either. Also, don't know how much of a discount I can get as I am already a Fizz mobile customer.

Price change in AB / BC / ON and introduced 150 and 200GB option

They reduced the coverage cost and they increased the data price :(

And for sure introduced the 150 and 200GB Plan

Travelling to Paris with Fizz Mobile

Would you recommend using Fizz while overseas or get an eSIM to save money? Just using it for data sometimes with Google Maps, no need for calls.

Canada’s wireless fee ban is being tested across the whole brand maze: Fido, Virgin, Lucky, Koodo, Public, Freedom, Fizz and more

Not breaking news, more of a follow-up/watchdog thread.

The CRTC’s ban on activation/modification fees took effect on June 12. Since then, the focus has mostly been on Rogers, Bell and Telus, but that misses a big part of how Canada’s wireless market actually works.

Customers don’t only see “the Big Three.” They see dozens of brands.

Rogers family: Rogers, Fido, chatr
Bell family: Bell, Virgin Plus, Lucky Mobile
Telus family: Telus, Koodo, Public Mobile
Quebecor/Vidéotron family: Vidéotron, Fizz, Freedom Mobile
Regional/MVNO layer: Eastlink, SaskTel, Tbaytel, Cogeco Mobile, PC/No Name Mobile and others

And the network/antenna situation makes it even more confusing.

Some brands are just flankers owned by the same parent company.
Some are prepaid brands running on the same network.
Some are regional carriers with their own towers plus roaming deals.
Some are MVNOs that sell service but use another carrier’s network.

So when a fee shows up at Fido, Virgin, Lucky, Koodo, Public, chatr, Fizz or another brand, it should not be treated as separate from the bigger carrier ecosystem.

Confirmed examples already worth watching:

Bell / Virgin Plus: $40 device handling charge
Rogers / Fido: $40 device setup charge
Telus: $15 SIM/eSIM fee
Freedom Mobile: appears to have backed off on some fees/requirements after the CRTC ban

That last one matters. If one carrier can adjust after the rule, why are others trying to preserve similar fees under new names?

Are activation fees disappearing, or are they being renamed across the whole Canadian wireless brand maze?

If you were charged anything since June 12, please comment with:

Brand:
Parent company/network, if known:
Fee name:
Amount:
Date:
Online, store, phone or chat:
Was it waived?

Thinking about switching

I'm currently with Koodo and they upped my plan $5 a month. It's not a big deal but I don't think it's right so I'm leaving. The question is which company do I try next.

I live about 25 kilometers from London Ontario (between London and Woodstock) and I only use about 4GB of cell data per month. I'm usually on wifi.

Question. Are any of you in this area? How is the call quality? Data ok in this area? Does Fizz offer voicemail changed to text. (Koodo has this. I didn't think I'd like it but I realized I do really like it). Can you add Fizz via esim and then port number over later.... Essentially sign up for Fizz, try it (mainly testing call quality and data coverage when not on wifi) and then port number from Koodo. I realize i would probably be paying both Fizz and Koodo during this trial.
